Re: set sender address on SMPP connection
On Thu 2012-09-06 (16:45), Guy Antony Halse wrote: What I'd like is a single sendsms-user that can send to any number (prefix) without the end user needing to know anything about the underlying routing or the sender number. Thus I need a way to set the sender number based on the destination prefix. I've managed to do this by running multiple instances of Kannel. I have a master instance that receives web requests from users (it has a number of sendsms-users, corresponding to real users). The master has a number of smscs configured, each being another instance of kannel (smsc = http, system-type = kannel). Individual destination prefixes are routed to different instances by using the allowed-prefix/denied-prefix options. I then have four separate slave instances, all of which connect to the same SMPP provider. However, the connections from the master come into a single proxy sendsms-user (the only user in each instance). This user uses faked-sender to set the correct source address for the prefix. So I do prefix routing in the master, and use it to set the sender address in a slave. This works, but it is an ugly hack :( The net result is that I'm establishing four separate SMPP connections to the same provider, one for each source address I need to set (one per slave instance). This is obviously not particularly efficient, and it confuses the routing of incoming SMSes (the SMS is received by the first instance to poll, and has to route it to the master because it might be for the wrong prefix). I'm waiting for the provider to complain about the four connections. If anyone has a cleaner way to do this (preferably with a single instance of kannel), please let me know :) - Guy -- Manager: Systems, IT Division, Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa Email: g.ha...@ru.ac.za Web: http://mombe.org/ IRC: rm...@irc.atrum.org *** ANSI Standard Disclaimer ***J.A.P.H

Usb HUBs with GSM modems
Hello, I don't really have a place to ask this question, it is indirectly related to kannel. But this seems the best channel for it. I'm sorry for the incovenience this may cause. I have a box running kannel and I'm sending messages using E220 modems. I'd like to have a lot of them by using USB HUBs. I've tried some cheap hubs (with external power source) but they do not work (I get some errors on dmesg and kannel cannot send messages through them). Someone has a good hint on a usb hub that would do the task? Regards, Rudy

Thanks for reply Rene, I has read about the permission issue on /dev/ttyUSB0. I have given chmod 777 permission to /dev/ttyUSB0. Hi Rudy, Ideally any USB hubs should work. I assume you are using Linux. Re: Kannel With SIM300 GSM Modem
Ok then maybe something is wrong with the port speed and autodetect... do you know modems default speed? you can try seting it to a fixed speed; else you can try with minicom to get the right port settings also you can run: # wvdialconf wvdial.conf It will test all ports in your equipment and will try to get a init-string for it Regards Alvaro On 9/12/12, sudhakar_yg sudhakar...@gmail.com wrote: Did that configuration getting the same log message, -- 2012-09-12 01:05:16 [8841] [6] DEBUG: AT2[gsm]: detecting modem speed. 2012-09-12 01:05:16 [8841] [6] INFO: AT2[gsm]: opening device 2012-09-12 01:05:16 [8841] [6] DEBUG: AT2[gsm]: device opened. Rene, Thanks. That is what I saw looking online but wanted to make sure. I am not sure I will for certain go with a paid solution as I have some alternatives but please do tell me the price model separately. Outgoing SMS routing via different SMSC by destination number prefix
Hi, What is the right way to route outgoing SMS routing via different SMSC by destination number prefix + default route for any unknown prefixes? I tried to do it by this configuration: group = core admin-port = 13000 admin-password = admin smsbox-port = 13001 dlr-storage = internal group = smsbox bearerbox-host = localhost smsbox-id = smsbox-0 sendsms-port = 13013 group = smsc smsc = fake smsc-id = smsc-7 port = 10007 connect-allow-ip = 127.0.0.1 allowed-prefix = 007 group = smsc smsc = fake smsc-id = smsc-8 port = 10008 connect-allow-ip = 127.0.0.1 allowed-prefix = 008 group = smsc smsc = fake smsc-id = smsc-0 port = 1 connect-allow-ip = 127.0.0.1 group = sendsms-user username = password = Messages with prefox 007 are routed via smsc-7 but sometimes are routed via smsc-0. Why can it be? What is the best configuration for my use case? -- Regards, Eugene Prokopiev
