Re: printer * corrected response

Unable to edit document - under Windows, if you have the original
document open and try to open another copy, the second copy will
be a read only. To change from read only to active document, save it
under a new name. Less complicated that using windows to change the
attribute as suggested below.

Use Insert | Envelope... from the menu to get to a dialog to print to an
envelope. To have a print envelope button it is necessary to modify the
tool bar to show a button for this feature. It is not there by default.

I wrote a letter and tried to delete it but keep the heading but it will
not delete. Why not?

Not sure but... perhaps the document is read only? Right-click on the
document. If an Edit option is displayed on the pop-up menu that appears,
click Edit. The document will then be ready to edit.

If the operating system (perhaps you're using Windows?) sees the file as
read-only then clicking Edit on the pop-up menu will display a message
asking if you'd like to edit a copy of the document. Click Yes to edit a
copy. If the original file must be edited then need to use Windows to
change the file from read-only to read/write.

This may seem like double-speak, sorry. The file can be read-only from AOOs
point of view or from Windows point of view. If clicking Edit as
described above causes the question do you want to edit a copy of the
document to appear then Windows (if that's what you're using) sees the
file as read-only. AOO will not over ride that and so asks you if you'd
like to edit a copy. If Windows sees the file as read/write then AOO will
make the document editable immediately after clicking edit on the pop-up
menu and won't ask if you'd like to edit a copy.

Your question is: how do I control the number of spaces between words /
end of sentence beginning of new sentence? Is that correct?

Full justification will have varying spaces between words. Like other
writing products such as WordPerfect, the standard is one space
between words / end of sentence and beginning of new sentence (very
annoying in WP as I prefer 2 spaces between sentences).

Does this clarify your question?

Suggestion for getting a download without the so-called installers -
if you find the program, read the information on the site (such as CNET)
to find the domain originating the program. For instance, Open Office
information on CNET mentions the OO web site (openoffice.org) several times.

Another suggestion - use search engine such as Google (usually is
selective on results returned) / Dogpile (shows results from several
search engines thus greater chance of finding what you are searching).
Be sure to check the suggested domain name to ensure you find the home
site for the program being searched.

Once you find the home site.

Per comment before, I have used CNET for about 15 years and did not have
to download one of the so-called installers . . .

You must be running Windows. Altho Conduit says it's not a virus,
it really is, and it's a bitch to get rid of. Your best bet is to
Google it.

In your browser, if it's Firefox, *after* you delete it from every
other place you can find, then reset Firefox. (You will lose any
special setting you have.) Don't forget to follow the removal
instructions about the registry--you have to get it off there too.
The instructions I found did *not* clean the Microsoft Browser
(the e browser). Since I never use that, i didn't care. I also do
not use Windows very often, for those reasons and others.

You might consider installing a Linux distro on a partition on
your machine. Then you won't see things like Conduit and
other crap like it (and worse)! OpenOffice and LibreOffice
are both available on a Linux system. You may find you want
to use the kde desktop, since it works and looks a lot like
Windows. PCLinuxOS uses KDE normally, as does Kubuntu--
note the K--and Fedora, and a few others. I like PCLinuxOS
(PCLOS) myself. All of these are available in 32- or 64-bit
versions. A great many programs you use in Windows have
counterparts in Linux, and they're almost all completely
free! Only two programs that i use--AutoCAD and WordPerfect
--are not available, and if you are comfortable with OO
you probably won't be using WordPerfect. (There are also
cad programs, but they are not AutoCAD clones.) If you
are into games, a great many of them will run under an
emulator called WINE.

All Linux distros that I know of have a forum or a mailing list, or both,
so if you need help, it's available. The folks on the PCLOS forum are
very helpful, and the turnaround is quite fast--from a couple of
hours to maybe a day.

2014-03-10 Thread Tubular
Thank you, Tom for the insight; however, if these people cannot send

Hello OpenOffice Apache Moderators,

I don't want to unsubscribe from any of the three project lists to

assume that something is finally done administratively to unsubscribe
their addresses since they eventually stop pestering.

Many people who are members of ACM or IEEE or other professional
associations register using a Remailer Address serviced by the
organization. The use of a Remailer Address enables provision of at
least the following services by the organization:

 * Virus scanning of mail sent to the member's Remailer Address
 * Quarantining of S--- sent to the member's Remailer Address --
Note that I did not use the S-Word since using it might cause
Verizon refuse to send the message considering it to be S.
 * Forwarding of non-infected non-S--- messages to the member's ISP
   provided addresses.
 * Ease of changing of ISPs by simply registering a new ISP supplied
e-mail address with the Remailer Service so that mail sent to the
Remailer address is forwarded to the member's new current ISP
provided address. Correspondents need not be informed of the change
   of ISP.

These people *cannot* send from their Remailer Addresses. They can
and usually do include their preferred Remailer Address in the
Reply-To field of their message headers. Their e-mail messages are
sent from their ISP provided addresses.

So, I think that a significant proportion of those who send to the
list asking to be removed have tried sending to the address in the
footer of the messages and were not removed from the list since they
are subscribed with a Remailer Address. That address from which they
are send is different from the address which is subscribed

I recommend that some mechanism be established for such subscribers to
take action to be removed from OpenOffice Apache lists. The
instructions they need should be provided in the footer with the other
three instructions.

I can't imagine that *no* developers and maintainers of OpenOffice
know of Remailer Addresses. How could this problem have festered so
long? Does the project cadre really not know about Remailer
Addresses? If you can maintain Apache projects you must be able to
understand this dilemma now that I have explained it somewhat clearly,
I think.

Note that I am subscribed via an IEEE Remailer address.

I'd no doubt have the same problem which these other poor souls have
if I'd try to unsubscribe.

Re: Problem with OpenOffice path

To have control over where downloads are saved using FoxFire, Click
Tools ; Options ; General then look for Downloads you will see
Show the Downloads window . . . ; Save Files to ; Always Ask Me
where to save files select Always Ask Me option to give you control
to save file where you want it. Upon request to download a file, a
little box will open giving an opportunity to direct the file to the
proper directory for saving.

Dictating where files are saved when downloaded is a function of the
browser NOT OpenOffice nor Excel nor MS Word nor WordPerfect nor Lotus
nor Adobe.

Thank you Chari and Andrea,*

Is there not a way to check all the default paths used by openoffice
directory (other than Tool-Option-Path)?

I will try with different browser to see if the same thing happening.

Best Regards,

I believe this is either related to windows or the browser. I have the same
thing happen when opening files online.

I found this on Firefox but haven't yet found a way to change it.

I have just learned to save as when I see its happened.

Hello,

I use PHP to access a odt file (save on a server) on a client with

When OpenOffice opens the file, it saves by default in the Windows

I know this is a dumb question; however, did you use:

To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org

??

Could you tell us way you are not able to unsubscribe yourself?
