David you need to flag up "Control panel" on your computer start up list. It
will have a section named install/uninstall. Scroll down the list of programmes
to Open office and click on that to highlight it. Then click on uninstall. It
will take a few minutes to uninstall all the files. If you are asked "this
programme wants to make changes to your computer" just click on accept. I hope
that is helpful.

RE: Uninstall Issue

2016-07-13 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
Also, if you are on Windows, Robert, you can use the Control Panel to uninstall
Apache OpenOffice. There are different ways to find the Control Panel
depending on the version of Windows you are using.

On the control panel dashboard, use the Programs (Uninstall a program) item.
The programs are listed in alphabetical order. You'll find Apache OpenOffice
under OpenOffice 4.1.2 (for the latest release). Select that and click
"Uninstall" in the menu above the list of programs.

This will leave some information on your system so that a reinstall will
preserve some of your settings. These are benign and should not be a concern.

I have never needed to uninstall OpenOffice from Windows, but the advice I am
aware of on the User Forum is that when a complete uninstall is required one
can download Revo Uninstaller and use it at its most aggressive to completely
remove OpenOffice.

So tell me, just what authorities do you plan to contact, the internet

In addition to what Dave has provided:

 1. If you are unable to resolve the problem, please tell us
(a) What operating system you are using
(b) What specific program you are attempting to install/uninstall
-- the name and the version
(c) Where you obtained the program, if you recall

 2. This can happen if files used for the installation have been removed,
so that the uninstall procedure cannot operate. Could this be related

You have obviously downloaded from an unofficial source, hence the obtrusive
popups which the sponsors of such unofficial sites often add. As you are using
Incredimail I assume your operating system is Windows. Start TaskManager (Ctrl
Shift Esc) and kill any soffice processes shown on TaskManager's Processes tab.
Then try to uninstall OpenOffice. A legitimate copy should uninstall easily at
that stage. If yours doesn't (as I suspect it won't), you need to run a virus
scan with updated virus definitions, then a malware scan (MalwareBytes is well
regarded). You may need to run the virus scan again just to be sure.

For information, the only recommended source for OpenOffice download is
www.openoffice.org/download
which will redirect to SourceForge servers where the files are stored.

search for the string 'openoffice' within contents of the files (not just in

in case this doesn't work, users also advise revo uninstaller
