[users] conditional sum
Hello, I have a problem with 'conditional sum' (as it was called in Excel). I believe it's SUM.IF in OOo. I'm spoiled by the way Excel led me through the motions, and don't quite succeed in doing the same in OOo. The idea is that when in the sheet 'journaal' two conditions are met in a range of cells in columns C and D, the amounts in the corresponding cells in column H will be summed in the result cell in another (second) sheet This is how OOo translated the formula made in the Excel sheet =SOM(ALS($journaal.$C$2:$C$179=nau;ALS($journaal.$D$2:$D$179=zek;$journaal.$H$2:$H$179;0);0)) (SOM.ALS is dutch for SUM.IF) I don't find an easy way to produce such formula in OOo. One condition (C=nau) is OK with InsertFunction, but do I have to add the second condition (D=zek) manually? This is what I get: =SOM.ALS(journaal.C2:C179;sec;journaal.G2:G173) Thanks, -- Guy using dutch OOo Aqua 3.0.0 Beta-2 on a iMac Intel DualCore Tiger and brazilian OOo Aqua 3.0.0 Beta-2 on an Intel MacBook Pro Leopard -- please reply only to users@openoffice.org -- Dodoes can't afford to have headaches

[users] turn off autoformatting?
OO insists that I should have an outline when I don't want one. I want several paragraphs under item 1, and then several under item 2, and OO will not let me! Let's imagine that the dates are in column B, starting at row 2, with the distances starting in C2. We can use the SUMIF() function to total all the values for a particular date. Enter in D2: =SUMIF(B$2:B$99;B2;C$2:C$99) Here the entire range B2 to B99 is examined for values that are equal to B2 - the date for the current row - and the corresponding values from column C are totalled. Fill this formula down column D to produce a column of daily totals. The only problem left is that the daily total will be shown for every row, whereas you probably want to see only one statement of it per day. The key fact about the last row for each day, of course, is that the date on the following row is different, so we need the total to appear only where this is the case. Change the formula in D2 to: =IF(B2B3;SUMIF(B$2:B$99;B2;C$2:C$99);) and fill this down column D. Now only where the data in the following row is different from the current row's date do we see the subtotal; otherwise the cell displays nothing. But I think perhaps you instead want a separate list of dates and totals, one per row - which is easier. In this case, put the first date in (say) E2 and fill down column E - to create a separate list of dates. Then enter in F2: =SUMIF(B$2:B$99;E2;C$2:C$99) and fill this down column F. For each date in column E, column F will show the total of the corresponding distances. I trust this helps. I don't know if this is where I want to comment to, but nothing else seems right either. I used Open Office on a computer a couple of years ago that I inherited (literally) from my wife's mother, who did not use it much. That computer died, and I loaded on the next one a copy of MSOffice 97 I had. That started getting recalcitrant, and they won't answer questions, so I downloaded OO from the website. That now takes a very long time to come up (maybe a half hour right now.) Any ideas? **Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Sign up for FanHouse Fantasy Football today. Hello Guys My System is Windows XP PRO. Plenty of Memory. I downloaded Open Office 2.4 and it installed, seemingly without problems, BUT-- The Wizard was too dumb to give me a desktop Icon to start the application, leaving me wondering how to crank it up and GO. Instead, the Install process put a Folder on desktop containing 24 packages, 3 folders, 2 installers, and 2 setup icons. Nothing in there CRANKS UP THE OFFICE Ensemble to make it GO. Please bring the Wizard back to Earth from its orbit around Pluto and make him add a START BUTTON to his Installation process. (Or tell me how to crank it up.) ALSO, I tried to Join the User Group and couldn't because Bill Jones is not accepted as a user name. I think this is because I am repeated in your membership for STAR OFFICE, from about 5 years ago. (Same email address: (Bill Jones: Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) ). Get me registered too if too can. By the way, Star Office was a Super program until Microsoft messed up Java and killed it. Yeah I know that SUN invented JAVA, but MS keeps on changing it so that SUN code wont work in MS Windows. [users] Making a simple HTML document
I am trying to make my first HTML document using OOo. It is to be about as simple a document as could be imagined. I am stymied. The document is to be a series of photographs, each one on its own page, with a caption under each. After inserting the first JPEG from file, I look for a way to insert an end of page mark, and find none in the menu system. Inserting a second JPEG only imposes the new image over the first. How to call for a new page? I do not find a way to insert a caption under the existing image. -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello, I downloaded the latest version and ran the installation setup. Once it was completed, it created a folder on my main screeen, with numerous .exe files. Do I have to open each file separately or is there a specific file to open, which in turn will open and run all the .exe files? I appreciate your help. Robert
RE: [users] Making a simple HTML document
Stan I think you're trying to achieve the impossible. As far as I know there is no such concept as end of page in HTML. HTML is intended to describe the type of presentation required for information, not to dictate the specific layout. By doing it this way, HTML can be device independent. If you want a page-at-a-time photo album book you'd be better off creating each page as a separate html document and then do some fancy footwork to link the pages with next and previous buttons etc. Murray Nicholas Systems Consultant (BASIS/DBA) Cadbury Schweppes IT -Original Message- From: Stan Goodman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, 20 July 2008 5:04 PM To: Open Office Subject: [users] Making a simple HTML document I am trying to make my first HTML document using OOo. Of course, I used a font (Lucida Grande) that contains Russian characters and I had no problems before with typing in Russian on my computer. MacOS 10.5.4 new iMac w/2GB RAM Please let me know if you could duplicate the problem. I am not one for other languages, but is OpenOffice.org setup to accept your Russian language? That is, does it have the language set to Russian, the appropriate dictionaries etc? That would be my first check before reporting a bug. You can check them under the paragraph styles to see what language is currently used - look at the help to see how to set this up. You have saved the file as a native Impress format, and PowerPoint can't open it. 2. When you saved it, you hadn't checked (ticked) Automatic file name extension in the Save dialogue. Windows requires the extension to know what to do with the file. HTH Russell -- You have posted to an OpenOffice.org mailing list.
