The email address you sent this message from is unsubscribed. If you

You subscribed to this user list with this account
(mlconsid...@yahoo.com), so you are receiving the list traffic. As this
is an active list, it is not surprising that you have received that many
messages. No legal action is required to stop receiving them. Since you
apparently did not really want to subscribe, just unsubscribe.

 Complete directions for doing so are included in the message you quoted;
just substitute your own account name as needed.

Then you will be suing yourself. To receive mail from this list you must
subscribe yourself and then reply to the auto response message you

Good luck with suing yourself.

Hello Michael,

Sorry to bother you with these details, but your email comes at a
particularly interesting moment in time, coinciding with a discussion
begun by myself regarding this subject. (well kind of on subject at least)

This is a mailing list - for you to receive 159 messages you needed to
have requested your email address be added to the list.

After that - a confirmation email was sent to that address.

After that - you would of needed to respond to that confirmation email,
in the affirmative.
(These last two steps are done as a precaution, so that no other person
could register your address without your knowledge )

The first email you sent a few minutes ago was processed directly the
the list - which means that this registration process had been
successfully completed.

Looking at all emails to the list from April 2008 up to and including
yesterday I fail to find any other emails from your address, so I take
it that this was your first email to the list. This shows that your
email address was never used to as an un-subscribed email address.
(During this time frame appx. 20,000 emails where processed through the
list from both subscribed and un-subscribed addresses.)

Two possibilities exist therefore:

1) A subscription using your email address was performed without your
knowledge. In this case this really needs to be reported to the
appropriate individuals as there is a serious problem with the software
or the process.

2) The instructions and information presented on our web sites is very
poor and lead you to creating a subscription without adequately
explaining what would be coming - a lot of emails. Another problem but
of another type and needing a different solution.

If either of the two possibilities above are in fact the case please let
us know via the list so that appropriate actions can be started.

Also, let me point out that OpenOffice.org directly and indirectly
through it's supporters, provides a number of informational services
such as this list, web based forums, on-line knowledge bases, web sites
and a wiki. None of those services, not a one, require that you be
registered, or subscribed, in any way to browse or search the
repositories offered by them.

Finally, I believe others have already pointed you towards how to remove
your email address from the list.

Best wishes,

Drew

I think we need someone to run an autoreply to privately reply to
someone whenever unsubscribe is mentioned in a listpost. t'would
reduce the frustration on this list significantly, from what I can see ^^

From this account (willcar...@embarqmail.com) send a message to
users-unsubscr...@openoffice.org. (The subject and content are
ignored, only the address matters.) You should soon get an unsubscribe
confirmation message. Once you respond to that, your subscription will
be canceled. If you do not soon receive such a message, it may be that
it is being treated as spam -- check your junk folders to see if
it's there, and check your personal filters to make sure they're not
dicarding it. Another possibility is that your request is not being
seen as coming from this account. In that case, there is an alternate
form that might be useful:
users-unsubscribe-willcarman=embarqmail@openoffice.org (note the
equals sign in the embedded address).

That will also result in a confirmation message to
willcar...@embarqmail.com.

Please note that *the users on this list have no authority to
unsubscribe you*, you need to do this yourself. You must receive the
unsubscribe confirmation request and follow its instructions. If the
above process does not work for you, there is no way we can help. You

Mr Fuchs,

I do not now and I have never caused email to request read-receipts for
messages. Such things are a waste of everyone's time and resources. I
get the noise just as you do, and in fact you have generated a bit of it
yourself.

You generated a bit of this noise. You made several unnecessary requests
to the list about this. I suggest you read your messages more carefully,
give your answer more thought and make such complaints in off-list email
to the real offender.

A request person, privately, (you have my email address) would have been
sufficient, and would have produced less noise for everyone.

I did however respond to such a request, and it appears that is what you
are complaining about.
I did not originate the request. I repeat, you should read your email a
bit more carefully.

He did not say you sent the request. You did send the reply, which he
complained about. It is your fault and responsibility for sending a
reply to the request to this list. Take responsibility for your own
actions and learn to read more carefully before telling others to do so.

I have Windows 7 beta running under vmware - completely fresh installation,

I just ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. I got this remark about OO.o.

OpenOffice.org 3.1
version 3.1.9399
OpenOffice.org

Uninstall first

You need to uninstall this program before upgrading to Windows 7. You
won't be able to install it after upgrading to Windows 7.

Is there any truth to this? Does anyone here have experience with OO.o
under Beta Windows 7?

--David Teague

I have Windows 7 beta running under vmware - completely fresh installation,
not an upgrade - with ooo 3.1 loaded, and it seems to be OK, though I've not
used it as extensively as my regular installation on opensuse.

Thanks! I was hoping this report by the MS Win 7 Upgrade Advisor was MS FUD.
And thanks again to all who responded to my inquiry.
