This is the same thing with address books.

Is there a trick I missed ?

http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=2120

I've checked it, and it's true.
When the email "from" or "to" field contains the "," character, the
part of the name need to be quoted:

e.g.
Doe, John  -> "Doe, John"

This because the "," character is the separator for multiple addresses.

e.g.
To: "Doe, John" , "Doe, Jane"

So, if the SOGo doesn't handle this situation perfectly, then is buggy.

The thunderbird sends the emails (comma in sender's name) perfectly,
and SOGo displays it as well.
I don't have user with comma in it's name, so cannot test the reverse
situation, but I think the SOGo webmail makes the mistake.

Objet : [SOGo] Adjusting shared calendar colors from iOS or Apple
Calendar

Hi SOGo users,

Does anyone know of a way that a user can configure the color of a
shared calendar from their iOS device or Apple app?

Currently, we have the administrator subscribing specific users to a
group of shared calendars (as it is difficult for them), but all of
the calendars default to the same “grey” color, which is extremely
confusing to the user. Either in Apple Calendar or iOS Calendar, it
is not possible to change the color of the calendar — however, the
user can change it if they log into the web interface.

The organization is all Apple OS and iOS, and we are trying to avoid
the inconvenience of forcing the users to log into the web interface
if they want to change basic things like this.

Thank you all so much.

[SOGo] Clustering SOGo?

2013-12-04 Thread Martin Rabl

Hi,

is it possible using two or more instances of SOGo (not workers),
where every instance runs on an own server, which are accessing to one
database together?

The idea is running a own SOGo instance in our DMZ so the users can
read their mail, events etc. from home.

Or should I create a database cluster which replicates to/from the
master in the intranet?

When I try to install I get some weird dependency errors.
Like it says libgnustep-base1.22 or newer required. I have
libgnustep-base1.24 installed but somehow dependencies are not met.

Call me adventurous but if it requires a little extra work to workaround
the installation step, I am up for it. As long as I know how.

Anyone tried to install it on Ubuntu 13.10?

Please let me know what you think...

Re: [SOGo] ActiveSync question

2013-09-03 Thread Martin Rabl
I think, the problem is ActiveSync itself, because it is not a free
solution. We are able to implement it, because of thousand pages of
documentation, but have to license using our implementation by Microsoft
- theoretically.
SOGo sets only on free interfaces like CALDAV etc. And it integrates the
free Openchange (which implements the IMHO non-free MAPI from Microsoft).

Ok, it would be nice to have a built-in ActiveSync solution in SOGo. But
IMHO the better way is to set on third party software, when there are
CALDAV-Interfaces (or SMTP/IMAP ...) available.

So, PHP-Push2 seems for me the only way for integrating AS with SOGo,
but its not a Inverse project, so they are not responsible for it.

The problem of PHP-Push is the big "less":
- less developers
- less testing users (!!!)
- less money

I'm sure, with more developer and more testing users it will do a step
forward making ActiveSync usable. And THAT would be for me a solution -
instead of grumbling to Inverse.

Re: [SOGo] Dear progammers and architects

2013-07-06 Thread Martin Rabl
Hi,

argl, another one mail with hidden subject "I got no running SOGo, but
its the fault of the others".

I like SOGo very well, and I got it running with MySQL several times
with no problems just by reading the docs, which impressed me (and my
managers ;-) ), by the way, because of the "100 Pages" with substance
(And its growing better and better with every version).

Ok - the OpenChange part made me some problems, but maybe I was to
chicken to assign SOGo via OpenChange to our stable running AD ...

But - the time I started my first experiments with SOGo, I began by
reading the docs, installed it with help of the docs (Ubuntu/Debian),
got it running with mysql.
I do not understand why a not native speaker like me (I'm from Germany,
and having a ... an ugly english) has no problems with the
documentation, and the "natives" have.

Sure, IMHO there are some parts to make a bit better, but as Ludovic
said: share it.
Sure, sometimes there is nothing to share because of low knowledge (i.
e. I have no glue about the filter language in the LDAP config of SOGo),
but asking for it in a polite way will give a good answer (some month
ago Ludovic gave me a tip which helped me quite a lot).
Sometimes the answer is not so you like it ... but you have to live with
it (MS TechNet is sometimes nice, but often ... argl! I have to live
with it and have to learn or solve my problem in an other way. Steve
Balmer will not take my hands ... ;-) (Better it is))

My experience is: the people which seems to be frustated are wanted to
much, in to less time with so much less effort and so automatic like
switching lights on. (Sorry for this! Its not constructive).
Going step by step, better: step after step seems not to be a way for
them to increase their knowledge about a system like SOGo.
But, YOU HAVE to invest some time to read and to understand - and
testing. You have to invest it with Zarafa, Zimbra, SOGo, Exchange,
Windows , Computers, learn to write mails ... its always work (and,
second experience, less work with SOGo).

I read the mails with the so called "constructive critic", but didn't
saw that. There was only critic. "Constructive" is, when you say, WHAT
you mean and HOW to make it better in your opinion. But it is not, when
you say "the documentation is ...".

So, please tell us, the quiet (frustated?) SOGo-using majority, what WE
ALL TOGETHER can make better and HOW. And, pls, be polite.

Greetings,
Martin Rabl

P.S.: sharing, i.e., means that:
http://iabsis.com/EN/article/35/Installation-de-Samba4-et-Openchange-sur-un-serveur-Debian-ou-Ubuntu
That is a good work!

[SOGo] Convert user data to multidomain

2013-05-30 Thread Martin Rabl

Hi,

in the SOGo documentation on page 40, Parameter
"SOGoEnableDomainBasedUID" I read the following words:

Consequently, activating this parameter on an existing system
implies that user identifiers will change and their previous
calendars and address books will no longer be accessible
unless a conversion is performed.

Ok, but how can this conversion to be done?

I want migrate a single domain setup into a multiple domain setup and
want all userdata converted

What is the best way to be done, can sogo-tool help?

Thanks,

[SOGo] Howto join samba4/openchange to a domain

2013-01-04 Thread Martin Rabl

Hi,

I'm working on the Outlook-SOGo-Stuff.
Following Server are there:
  * gw.example.de (holds SOGo and Samba, Ubuntu 12.04)
  * kairo.example.de (holds the AD, Win2003 Server)
  * Domain is named example.de, the Workgroup EXAMPLE.

I did the configuration like documented in the "Native MS Outlook
Configuration Guide", but still not joined the domain EXAMPLE.COM

Now I have to join the SOGo host to the domain example.com, and I'n
not shure if thats right.

Maybe can someone give me a hint.

Is it correct, that I join the Domain EXAMPLE.COM (Workgroup EXAMPLE)
with that command:

samba-tool domain join gw.example.de DC -Uadministrator --realm=example.de

Thank you!

[SOGo] Webclient, Loginpage in English instead of configured German

2013-01-03 Thread Martin Rabl

Hi,

today I updated our SOGo-Server from 1.3.17 to 2.0.3a. Runs pretty easy,
but: before the web login page were in german, now its in english (ie.
label of the checkbox was "Benutzername merken" before, now its
"Remember username").
As "SOGoLanguage" is "German" configured (as before) ... is there
another switch for selecting the language? Or does this now depend on
the servers locale (configured en-us) and not on the sogo configuration?
OS is Ubuntu 12.04.

Thank you for every hint,

Re: [SOGo] SMTP AUTH email address as username

Hello Julien,

install a local smtp-server, which relays to the smarthost. The local
smtp server can do the auth against the smarthost with a single
technical user and delivers the mails sent by sogo.

Examples:
http://www.dnsexit.com/support/mailrelay/postfix.html

From SOGo I think it is not possible to "route" the SMTP-AUTH

SOGoAccountsManager is composed by two (unamed) subprojects: the
backend and the frontend.

The backend is developed in PHP, using the Slim Framework[1]. It is
modular so you can adapt it to your users database (LDAP, SQL, ...).
It is a small piece of code, less than 600 lines of real code.

The frontend is developed using SproutCore[2]. So it is fully
Javascript and only runs in the browser. Frontend and backend
communicate via a REST interface.

SOGoAccountsManager reuses the cookie of SOGo, so there is no need to
re-authenticate.

SOGoAccountsManager is not features complete for now. It is stable
enought to be tested for accounts management. Domains management, Mail
groups management, etc... are not developed for now. As soon as
accounts management will be rock solid, it will be easy to continue
the development. It is like an alpha 1 release.

There is no real documentation for now. Basically:

1/ Place backend/ on your SOGo server (eg: in
/srv/www/webmail.example.com/SOGoAccountsManager/)

2/ Extract Slim Framework (tested with last stable, v2.1) and Zend
Framework (tested with last stable, v2.0.2) in one of the PHP includes
path:
- /usr/share/php on RHEL6/CentOS6
- [...]/backend/library/

3/ Edit [...]/backend/application/config.php

4/ Build the frontend with the SproutCore tools and upload it to your
server (eg: /srv/www/webmail.example.com/SOGoAccountsManager/static/)

5/ Put this in your Apache config BEFORE the SOGo config:
ProxyPass /SOGo/AccountsManager !
Alias /SOGo/AccountsManager/api/
/srv/www/webmail.ledisez.net/SOGoAccountsManager/backend/www/index.php/
Alias /SOGo/AccountsManager
/srv/www/webmail.ledisez.net/SOGoAccountsManager/static/sogo_accounts_manager/en/b26d3251b668789fa394b64f087d2f238e73ed65

Alias /static /srv/www/webmail.ledisez.net/SOGoAccountsManager/static

SOGoAccountsManager is an open source software released under the AGPLv3:
https://github.com/rledisez/SOGoAccountsManager

Any kinds of feedbacks/contributions will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards.

We use a mixed authentication with AD-Auth (for the Staff) and

Hi,

IMHO phpicalender allows to subscribe ics-calenders via URL. SOGo
allows to get calenders by a URL like

  http//www.example.com/SOGo/dav//Calendar/personal.ics
(just add the .ics-extension).

So, I'd like to export SOGo Calendars to the phpICal server.

How can I export SOGo people calendar in ICS format automatically? I
can script it, using crontab& co.

Thanks for your help!

Re: [SOGo] Sieve Integration in SOGo

2012-07-25 Thread Martin Rabl
A possible solution for Dominiques request could be seen in
http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=1392, but it depends on
sieve-files which are still on the server or send to the server via
managesieve-command or sftp or something else - but not with SOGo.

Sieve allows to store (sieve-)files on the server without activating
them.

So, a solution could be integrating an editor field for
clean-sieve-files in a own tab (name it "Sieve" ;-) in the preferences
window. This script could be stored as is on the server (and in the
database) and will be enabled by integrate an include on that in the
standard-sogo-sieve-script generated bei SOGo.
With some changes in http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=1392 and in
the preferences view it could be integrated, I think.

Sure, Sieve scripting itself is used by the experienced user ... our
"standard" users are pretty happy with the SOGo-generated sieve
script. But the others ... ;-)

  Martin

help to that many people ;-)

Hi

We run a Cyrus/Sieve Server with SOGo. However, the sieve
integration in SOGo is less than perfect (sorry). On one end, SOGo
offers Vacations and Forward options but on the other end no easy
way to access/edit/maintain/create/... sieve rules - including those
two options.

Could a new admin page be created to manage sieve (when available in
the server as per the .GNUstepDefaults file) through the SOGo webgui
to allow users to maintain their rules by themselves ? It seems that
Sieve is already somewhat supported by SOGo. Why not finish the
integration and offer to use either one or the other option or both?

I think the code described by the patches can be easy integrated in the newer
code, as there are IMHO no great changes.
Most of the changes are done in SOGoSieveManager.m, in SOGoDomainDefaults.m
will get the new configuration params

The patch itself depends on an other patch you will find in
http://www.sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=1391. That one retrieves SIEVE-Capabilties
from the server, which is needed for #1392 (it checks for the availability of
sieve-"include"-command and enables a fallback if failed)

Would be great, when the patches will find a way into the SOGo code!

Thats right, but I love it - the extensions are the best feature, I don't know
any other client with such a capability.
And: a webbased client is no alternative for a desktop based application - not
as fast, has not the security for your mails and so on (yes, I archive my

This ist not a Bug.

Only the personal ("default") calendar will be named "normal". All other
Collections (WebDAV-speak) are named by this hash-key (? looks like) for better
seperation. The mapping to the human-memorizable name you see in the GUI is
done by SOGo, which holds the data in the database.
