[xwiki-users] [myxwiki] new wiki request

2011-03-21 Thread Stefan Leon Orzu
Hi, I would like to create a wiki on myxwiki.org which I will use for a
school project, for collaborative documents and resource sharing.
The Wiki's name should be HCI (comes from Human-Computer Interaction),
so the url would be hci.myxwiki.org
The myxwiki account I created is sorzu, and I would be its main
aministrator.

Thanks,
Stefan Orzu.

[xwiki-users] Add a form in a ClassSheet page

2011-03-21 Thread Pidoux75
Hello all

I've a problem with IE (tried with IE7 and IE8, same result) in adding in a
ClassSheet page a really simple form like:

1
2
3

No problem in view mode, but when I go in inline mode then:

 - if I try to Save and Continue I got a error message like Error :
'this.form' is Null or not an object and debug target line in
actionButton.js and I stay blocked on the page with Saving... animation.

 - if I click on Save and View, nothing happens (no error or anything
else) but I stay also blocked on the page.

I got none problem with FireFox...

Has someone could help me?

Forgive my ignorance but I'm not sure where to find the document you mean
when you say change it in your translation.

You have to extract ApplicationResources.properties file(s) matching
your language(s) from the xwiki-core jar, modify it and place it in
WEB-INF/classes directory, so that it overwrites the one(s) from the
xwiki-core jar. Finally, restart your wiki.

When you're referring to translation bundle, is this the same as for
 internationalisation?

Yes.

Hope this helps,
Marius

Yes managed to get that all working fine. Remapped to use Ctrl+Z instead of
Ctrl+G. Interestingly, after doing this, Firefox maps Ctrl+G to find
(similar to Chrome). Appears as if both browsers have the same mappings but
Chrome grabs the key first before passing to XWiki, whereas Firefox gives
XWiki first crack at the key?

Another ignorant question; what is the Meta key under Windows? The panel
refers to Meta+G and Ctrl+G does what the Meta+G keys should do. But
is there another key sequence, or does Meta+G under Windows just mean
Ctrl+G?

Yes, Ctrl+G is find next. Even with the Ctrl+G mapping in XWiki, if
the windows doesn't have the proper focus (try clicking on the address
bar), Ctrl+G will show the find dialog.

Meta = the Windows key, the one with the win logo on it, usually
between Ctrl and Alt. It's bad to call it the Windows key in a
multi-OS environment, where it maps to the Apple key on macs, and it's
wrong to say Windows to GNU/Linux users.

I thought that's what it might have been but pressing the Windows key with
G takes me to the Windows gadgets. And Windows key with the newly

Not a problem, happy to use Ctrl; just curious as to how Windows is
supposed to work as a Meta key.

Yes, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Tried it on one of my test machines that is running XP using Internet

actually - how could I do this ?
I'm not an expert in forum software so I'd to go for the naive approach
 - comparing features e.t.c.

I was hoping for some insight that it is beneficial for the whole
project to encourage users first to browse and then to participate -
even if it means for you and the others around here to give up beloved
 habits.

Anyway - I'm not going to push you guys back to the future of Web 2.0.

Given the lame participation when compared to the survey 4 years ago it
seems to me that quite some people have already left the boat and it may
 not matter anymore.
I'm not sure how to read your last 2 paragraphs.

Just note that fro my POV there's no you and me here. There's only a
global community and you're part of it. That said at some point some people
are going to need to work to make it happen, this is where the distinction
will happen. How far are you willing to help? Maybe a first step would be
that you help find either a forum software that fits the bill or a hosted
service that would work for us.

From the people who answered so far my feeling is that:
 * people seem to agree in general that at least for users a forum would be
 nicer
 * since xwiki committers provide a substantial amount of answers to the user
list as of today it would be nice that they can continue to have the
 information coming to me

For my own FOSS project I'm hoping to start soon - I'll be going with
http://stackoverflow.com. Providing support means checking the site for
tagged questions a couple of times a day. It's just one mouse click. For me
it makes no real difference in getting mails or checking a forum as long as
you have a one-click list of open topics.

[snip]

Well, stackoverflow.com is one global site for all questions, it's not a tool
you can install or host.

It's part of stackexchange which is list of QA sites.

FYI, I've contacted the guys just to check what is the process to get such a
site and here's their answer:

All of our sites are created through a process we call Area 51. It is the
staging area to propose Stack Exchange sites to the community and, if it gains
enough support, we create the site. Stack Exchange sites can only be created
via the democratic, community-driven process at Area 51. You can read more
about that process here: http://area51.stackexchange.com/faq.

I like that too but I think the most compelling factor (about

[xwiki-users] XE 2.7.1 Office Preview nor Macro NOT Working

2011-03-21 Thread Ramon Gomes Brandão - SERINT
Hi,

I've could get my upgrade from 2.4.3 to 2.7.1 working in my test environment.
The new features seem remarkable indeed, but one of the most important for our
XWiki instance is not working properly: the Office Preview in attachments of
Office Macro. The little eye right beside the edit and delete buttons on the
attachments sections doesn't appear. Is there something I'm missing? Any
configuration steps required?

If I try the office macro, I get an exception:
org.xwiki.rendering.macro.MacroExecutionException: Failed to view office
attachment.
and Caused by: java.lang.Exception: Attachment [name =
[DescricaoSGAeSGA1.doc], type = [ATTACHMENT], parent = [name = [WebHome], type
= [DOCUMENT], parent = [name = [Main], type = [SPACE], parent = [name =
[xwiki], type = [WIKI], parent = [null] does not exist., but the
attachment is really there, showed in the attachments section.

How can I handle this?

our XWiki instance is not working properly: the Office Preview in attachments
of Office Macro. The little eye right beside the edit and delete buttons on
the attachments sections doesn't appear. Is there something I'm missing? Any
 configuration steps required?

If I try the office macro, I get an exception:
 org.xwiki.rendering.macro.MacroExecutionException: Failed to view office
 attachment.
and Caused by: java.lang.Exception: Attachment [name =
 [DescricaoSGAeSGA1.doc], type = [ATTACHMENT], parent = [name = [WebHome],
type = [DOCUMENT], parent = [name = [Main], type = [SPACE], parent = [name =
[xwiki], type = [WIKI], parent = [null] does not exist., but the
attachment is really there, showed in the attachments section.

If you try to download the attachment, is it valid? This error could
mean that although the attachment appears there, it's content is
actually empty.

[xwiki-users] Comment Moderation , Right approach

2011-03-21 Thread Anjankumar . Panda
Hello XwikiUsers,

Greetings for the day.

Need to know the best approach form your experience in Xwiki to
implement comment moderation .I could not find any topic in forum related
to this .

The appoach i've taken is this

Initiating a new boolean property isApproved in XwikiComments Class

Modifying inlinecomments.vm to have an approve link in similar way to
delete

I'm getting stuck in the second point being not sure what would be the URL
to update that property .

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Anjankumar Panda
