There *IS* a way to get an embedded player. Every one of the videos in
your eyespot account has a publish link underneath it. Just click it

Subject: [videoblogging] vPIP 0.12 Beta is out

vPIP (videos Playing In Place) allows the embedding of videos only
when a link, usually image representing the video, is clicked. This
allows a vlog page to load quickly. Then when the link is clicked,
the video replaces the link and appears next to the blog text. vPIP
supports Quicktime, Windows Media and Flash movies. Those who've
been on this list, I'm sure have heard me mentioned vPIP several times.

The current version has been tested on Firefox, Internet Explorer 6,
Opera and Safari. It works well on all these except on Safari the
revert feature does not work well, so it's been disabled. The revert
option makes a prior video that was active revert back to it's link
information when the next video is selected.

The blogging systems that vPIP has been tested on are Blogger.com and
Wordpress. It should also work on any other blogging system like
Typepad and website by referencing it's javascript file.

The installation and usage information is at:

 http://www.utilities.cinegage.com/videos-playing-in-place/

In the usage section is an image link to the Generate vPIP flash
utility that lets you specify the video file, image file and other
parameters. Then it generates the code to copy and paste into your
 blog or web site.

Currently I know that Geek Entertainment TV,
 http://www.geekentertainment.tv/, Lo-Fi St. Louis,
 http://lofistl.com/, Tech Alley, http://techalley.cirne.com/ and
Cirne, http://www.cirne.com/vlog/, are using vPIP. Have a look at
those sites to see it in operation. As of this writing, Geek
Entertainment TV and Lo-Fi St. Louis are using the prior version of
vPIP that require the page to completely load for it to go into
effect. My sites, Tech Alley and Cirne, are using the new version
 that operates immediately.

Let me know if there's any questions, recommendations for improvements
 or problems.

   Thanks,

   Enric

[videoblogging] Cleaning up audio help...

I was hoping someone might fast-track me to a site that has some good

We shot some footage on a fujifilm 2800 and some of the audio if
really awful. Lots of hissing, and any of the audio from a subject
that was more than 3 feet aways is really low. I can punch up the
gain on the segments where it is quiet, but the hissing is a pain.

I've tried Audacity's remove noise, but it's stripping out too much of
the good audio.

I was hoping there might be a good site for some basics of audio
fixing-upping, or something that someone might now about.

Cleaning up audio is very hard - expect very little. It's almost
impossible to drastically improve bad audio. That's why the emphasis
always on good sound with video.

Good luck anyways!

 Thanks in advance.

Gee thanks, that's hopefull ;)

It's a borrowed camera luckily, not one we bought. It is a handy
little unit for the most part compared to what we've been using...but
yes the audio thing is a big drag.

A good caveat for someone shopping around for a used digital camera I
guess..the Fujifilm 2800 has less than great audio.

  Good luck anyways!

2006-03-29 Thread Michael Meiser

I'm posting this to a few groups, forgive me if you think it's spam.Thought ya'll might find this very interesting. I haven't checked it out yet.(see forwarded email below)Now wouldn't this be nice if it included automatic transoding? And how about actually automatically adding your title sequence intro, your outro, even perhaps a watermark or logo. You could take all those little unedited 30 second videos right off your camera or cell phone and post them right to your vlog.Yeap, I'm nutty that way...This sounds like a big step in the right direction... Ourmedia, Blip, and all the posting and hosting services should pay attention to these feature sets.Making videoblogging more accessible to everyone is probably the single most important issue right now to it's success and with it all the startups and individuals in this space.  Tools like this help everyone.-Mikemmeiser.com/blogmefeedia.comBegin forwarded message:From: "Will Brown" Date: March 28, 2006 8:05:18 PM GMT-05:00To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: [podcasters] I'm loving the new PodpressReply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Finally a good iTunes compatible RSS Wordpress plugin! [videoblogging] Revlog MegaThread

2006-03-29 Thread Charlie Rosen
It doesn't seem like there has ever been a real
discussion about the pros and cons of revlogging. I'm
not talking about video mash-ups. I'm talking about
vlogs made completely of other peoples' videos.

Two examples:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheRevlog
http://feeds.feedburner.com/joshleospicks

I've never had one of my videos revlogged but in
theory I'd be ok with it because the enclosure link
would be pulling the video from my server, so I know
that it was downloaded.

Some things that are important to me:

1) Give credit. A permalink to my blog would do. I'd
prefer to have the source listed in the item title and
description to make it really obvious.
2) Enclosure must sit on my server. Don't copy it
onto your server and republish because I like to know
how many people are watching my vid.
3) The emphasis about the feed should not be watch
this feed! but rather watch these other feeds that I
watch.

Overall I agree with Josh Leo that ReVlogs are great.
Check out his About Josh's Picks blurb here:
http://www.joshleo.com/picks/?page_id=2

I'd love to start revlogging. But where's the line in
terms of courtesy to the video makers? What's proper
etiquette? Do you need to email the person first
before you link to their video on your vlog? What
about ads? If I revlogged an episode of Rocketboom
with a TRM ad next to one of Verdi's vids, would I be
pissing Verdi off? What's proper use?

Ideally, I would want to creae a feed that originated from my blog, but when you click the comment button in fireant, it would take you to the original post by the original author. This way, people would subscribe to my feed to find more feeds, and then you would get more people subscribing to your feed because i linked to it.
but for right now the best we can do is include permalinks within the posts..On 3/29/06, Charlie Rosen

The current version has been tested on Firefox, Internet Explorer 6, Opera and Safari.  It works well on all these except on Safari the revert feature does not work well, so it's been disabled. The revert option makes a prior video that was active revert back to it's link information when the next video is selected. The blogging systems that vPIP has been tested on are Blogger.com and Wordpress.  It should also work on any other blogging system like Typepad and website by referencing it's _javascript_ file. The installation and usage information is at: http://www.utilities.cinegage.com/videos-playing-in-place/ In the usage section is an image link to the Generate vPIP flash utility that lets you specify the video file, image file and other parameters.  Then it generates the code to copy and paste into your blog or web site. Currently I know that Geek Entertainment TV, http://www.geekentertainment.tv/, Lo-Fi St. Louis, http://lofistl.com/, Tech Alley, http://techalley.cirne.com/ and Cirne, http://www.cirne.com/vlog/, are using vPIP.  Have a look at those sites to see it in operation.  As of this writing, Geek Entertainment TV and Lo-Fi St. Louis are using the prior version of vPIP that require the page to completely load for it to go into effect.  My sites, Tech Alley and Cirne, are using the new version that operates immediately. Let me know if there's any questions, recommendations for improvements or problems.     Thanks,     Enric    -===-    http://www.cirne.com Yahoo! Groups Links YAHOO! [videoblogging] Site Icon Tutorial

2006-03-29 Thread VlogDan
Hello fellow videobloggers.
I just joined the group, and this is my first post.
I have two vlogs:
Dan and Jen's Animal Friends at http://whitebearbeauty.blogspot.com/,
and VlogDan at http://vlogdan.blogspot.com/.
I'm from MN and, I have been vlogging since October '05.

Aside from the intro, This post is about the fact that I just made a
tutorial explaining how we can add a little icon to the address bar in
the browser whenever your site loads, i.e. Rocketboom has a rocket.

The tutorial is here:
http://vlogdan.blogspot.com/2006/03/site-icon-tutorial.html

I hope you all like it. If you have any suggestions, leave a comment.
