[videoblogging] Re: pocketPC video editor?
I think thats to do with future devices using Intel chips that arent released yet, and its unclear whether this platform will make it to mobile phones or whether it will be reserved for UMPC's and upcoming MIDs. Windows Mobile is probably not the target OS, bur rather full-blown windows or alternative linux-like MID OS that Intel wants to encourage. http://blog.digitalbackcountry.com/?p=1047 Cheers Steve Elbows --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, taulpaulmpls [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I caught a news snippet the other day from Intel announcing support for a mobile version of Adobe AIR. Although, Windows Mobile devices seem to be pretty popular in the states anyway. I just upgraded my phone to a new Windows Mobile 6 (wm6) device, and the OS is quite nice (a significant improvement over wm5 which wasn't too bad itself). Windows has an advantage in the cell phone market similar to the advantage they have in the PC market their OS can be licensed and installed on hardware that others make. So you'll have HTC devices running windows mobile (which are really nice little devices), you'll have palm devices running windows ...etc etc etc There's also no shortage of developers out there making windows mobile apps. My windows phone can store music and video, and stream tv shows, and get my email, and twitter, and websites, and google maps w/ GPS, and Instant Messengers and on and on and on and on ... and its pretty nice interface even if not multi-touch ... so Windows isn't out of the game at all. ( That being said ... if the iPhone did video and was 3g I'd have gone with the iPhone no questions asked. :-) ) With a mobile version of .NET and DirectX available ... I'm sure the windows mobile platform COULD do simple trim/combine edits on video ... I think it might be more likely that editing capabilities will be built into more camcorders etc in future. And if there is a future iphone that records video, or some other mobile mac device that makes use of multitouch screen, we could be in for a treat. On the camcorder front I suppose its feasible that the cameras of the future will be wifi enabled. In the meantime, I think nokia mobile video editing stuff possibly has the largest potential audience right now, in terms of number of people who buy nokia phones, but this may not be so true in the USA, and the lack of touchscreen or large enough screen is a hindrance. I dunno, I guess its one of those things that would be incredibly useful if done right, but only a very small %age of people who buy suitable devices will actually use this feature. I havent ended up using the basic video editing on the nokia N95 much yet, its just a tad too painful, but I guess I would use it if I were travelling the world or taking speedvlogging to an extreme. If the economy doesnt slow development pace, I think we are about to see mobile devices of all kinds reach a new level of useability, so the next few years should see some of these hopes come true. Hey there everybody, I know I don't post here as often as I used to, I guess I just use twitter more these days... But I wanted to let you all know about the video project I have been working on for the past 2 months. Some of you who watch my vlog may have noticed that my video output has slowed a bit over time, so here is my explanation. I have been working on a video show about cute pets! I am a co-editor on Ultra Kawaii (http://www.ultrakawaii.com) It is a show for Next New Networks and I am really excited about it! I have learned a lot in the editing process of the program and have embraced my love for cute animals in a whole new way (heck, I have been doing vlog-cats for about 2 years now) So I would love to hear feedback from you, and if you have any constructive criticism, please send that also! Hi Pat You might want to provide both URL options (a RSS and a stream). Nothing against you, I avoid downloading what I cannot (first) see. http://tinyurl.com/34cvqt I searched Pod O for your show and this result returns page with a player for each episode. I watched two episodes #8 and #7. Episode confusion or time travel? You are right about the video quality, very impressive for a 100 bucks. Outweighs the minor audio problems (and inside there were none except for the echo). One tip ... take a bathroom break before you start rolling (pun intended). I am guilty of not knowing much more about you. I had, prior to today, watched a couple of your shows and met you in a few of the Flashmeetings ... I assumed (on occasion) that you drank which is not the kind of respect (damn I wish I could still pound and carry on a conversation) you deserve. None of my BUSINESS but I think you would make a great host/instructor to help others with disabilities master video and blogging. Maybe that is what you do already and I need to take the time to watch more of your work. I have to ask ... people are people ... when you were rolling around talking to what appeared to be to yourself did you get more looks than normally? Keep your chin up ... Be safe out on the road ... nothing but admiration from me. When you say the URL, do you mean the url connected to the pictures of the videos on your blogspot site? Because if so, right clicking makes no difference, its not an issue of what people are doing with the url, its that those URLs are requiring us to login to podomatic. I think you may be posting URLs that only work for the person with the podomatic account, ie you. The links work for you because you are already a member of that site. I imagine the way you are getting the URLs from podomatic is wrong, and there are different ones that are meant to be posted to your blog. around the 30/10/07 Patrick Cook mentioned about Re: [videoblogging] First Outdoor Video Just Posted that: Remember, it's an MP4 video and MP4s aren't as easily recognized in the browser plugin. why not save as .mov then, it will still be mp4 but it's hard to find a webserver or a plugin that isn't configured for .mov, whereas sometimes (well, in the olden days) various windows media plugins always tried to hijack various media types away from quicktime so you'd have to reset them manually -- cheers Adrian Miles this email is bloggable [ ] ask first [x] private [ ] vogmae.net.au [official compliance stuff:] CRICOS provider code: 00122A
Re: [videoblogging] Re: First Outdoor Video Just Posted
What David said. I watch a lot of vlogs, and I've never come across one that I've had to right click on and download. And there are no instructions on your page for us to do that. I don't know if you watch other vlogs and places that show online video, but they pretty much all (I can't think of one that doesn't) involve a thumbnail that you click on to play, either directly in the browser or as a pop-up. MP4, MOV, WMV, FLV, whatever. You can make the thumbnail a Flash file and you have an MP4 linked as an enclosure for podcasting. It won't get confused. So you can still put a link to your MP4 file, and have a fast loading flash player that's compatible across systems. I strongly recommend that you do that. Blip.tv allow you to upload your MP4, they'll automatically convert it to flash and give you a player that you can use AND free hosting for your mp4 for podcasting. If you want, you can also upload it to Podomatic, but that seems like overkill unless there are other benefits to Podomatic that I don't know about. I can't urge you strongly enough to follow this advice. People just won't be able to view your videos otherwise. That means THE ONLY thing you can do IS download it. There's a SEPERATE URL that's used for streaming videos. I don't know why this is though. [videoblogging] Brief early view of Apple Leopard for videobloggers
Its a nice OS but at this stage doesnt have much of particualr note to vloggers, unless you use iChat in which case some of its new features might be useful. Photobooth also records video now, and front row is part of the OS now, although I havent checked to see if any of its podcasting features are improved. If you use Adobe Premiere or After Effects you probably need to avoid Leopard for a while as I think Adobe need to issue new updates for them to make them compatible. On a fast mac with a clean install Leopard is very nice, and things like Motion 3 seem faster to me. Quickview and coverflow for video files may also be handy for some if you like that sort of thing. But be warned that some features like iChat special effects are disabled by Apple on older Macs, including all PowerPCs I believe, which isnt going down too well. Also it may eat more RAM. So probably not too many reasons to rush to upgrade, and it remains to be seen whether Core Animation will lead to a new breed of sexy apps, as there dont seem to be any apps that use this stuff yet. Cheers Steve Elbows PS. If you have Leopard and an Intel Mac, you might want to check out some iChat/photobooth effects that I butchered together in Quart Composer at the weekend, to try to make up some peoples disappointment that Apple removed some of the effects that were demod ages ago. Others have now joined in and started to offer effects too. Here is the thread, got way more attention than anything else Ive ever said or done lol: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=376295
Re: [videoblogging] Re: First Outdoor Video Just Posted
If you are worried that your video wont get picked up by the video aggregators, and you are using blogger, just put the video link in the title. Not make the title the video, but in the title link section of your blogpost form. Does that make sense? I'm with the other saying that having it automatically download without knowing is kinda disconcerting; especially with such a large file. But I enjoyed the video nonetheless! -- Schlomo Rabinowitz http://schlomolog.blogspot.com http://hatfactory.net AIM:schlomochat [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Once bitten Twice shy I am sitting on a upgrade to Leopard, ain't gonna install for at least a month. Already reading about people having some problems and in response Apple issued a patch. Don't read this as complaining ... but OS updates and OS upgrades have taken their toll here. http://tinyurl.com/345o23 news articles. --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Bill Cammack [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I hear that. Re: [videoblogging] My New Video Project
I noticed that your halloween episode was a collection of clips from YouTube. Can you talk a bit about how you cleared the copyrights of all these clips? I know many videobloggers feels very strongly about protecting their rights and this has been discussed many times on this list from the other viewpoint. I'm interested in hearing how you as a producer at a commercial network deal with these issues. - Andreas Den 30.10.2007 kl. 11:18 skrev Josh Leo [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Hey there everybody, I know I don't post here as often as I used to, I guess I just use twitter more these days... Re: [videoblogging] My New Video Project
we messaged every person who created the videos, we explained to them how the videos would be used and they agreed... 65 emails sent out 15 responses, only 1 no that is usually how it goes for each video a lot of foot work but worth it i think and we always link back and include their url in the video itself good topic to bring up! Hi everyone: On 10/30/07, Steve Watkins [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: When you say the URL, do you mean the url connected to the pictures of the videos on your blogspot site? Yes. Because if so, right clicking makes no difference, its not an issue of what people are doing with the url, its that those URLs are requiring us to login to podomatic. Well if THIS is the case, it looks as though I may need to consider changing hosts (BlipTV comes to mind). I think you may be posting URLs that only work for the person with the podomatic account, ie you. No. It's a public URL.
