[videoblogging] Re: Copyright and Brightcove

2008-06-06 Thread Sheila English
We do the music cue sheet thing for tv as well. We've never been asked
to provide it for online use, though I'm sure we can do that easily
enough.

What Brightcove is doing just isn't user friendly and they're
obviously okay with that. I think they're wanting to be looked at like
a TV network, but they're not going about it in the best manner.
That's just my own opinion.

[videoblogging] Re: Which is the best video site for:...

2008-06-06 Thread Sheila English
As far as utilizing a private site for employees, my company has set
up a private site on www.ning.com. No one else can get in unless
they've been sent an invitation.
We put up video tutorials, resources lists and employees share their
expertise on blogs. It's like MySpace where each employee can have
their own profile, but you manage the main profile page and can easily
share video, music, files, etc.

[videoblogging] Is Veoh going belly up or just going through a growth spurt?

2008-06-06 Thread Sheila English
In three months I have 2 Veoh reps "move on" from Veoh to something else.
I can't get customer service to answer emails anymore when that was
not a problem 6 months ago.
We utilize the Veoh platform for Reader's Entertainment TV and have
always enjoyed working with the folks there, but lately there seems to
be a lot of internal changes that have affected the quality of the
customer service for us.

Anyone hear anything about the health of Veoh?

[videoblogging] List of social media sites

2008-06-06 Thread Sheila English
I listed this a while back, but I found someone selling this same list
online for $10. It's my exact same list, which is funny since I paid
$10 just to find out it was my list being sold.
I don't really care that someone is selling the list, but I thought I
would mention that you can get it for free here-

http://dc15.4shared.com/download/41626459/f9978ca7/SocialMediaList_Generic.doc

It's a list of over 400 sites that I put together. I checked each site
at the time I uploaded this list and they all worked. Hard to say if
they all still work since so many sites fail anymore.

I am updating the list at the end of the year and should have about
500 sites listed by then. I will always make the list available to
this group. I get a lot of great feedback and help from people here
and I want to be able to offer something in return.

And if you want to sell it for $10 I don't care, but do be kind enough
to credit me for it since I put a lot of hours into the creation of
the list.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot for the list. Greatly appreciated.

Out of interest, did the person selling the list actually change
anything (add descriptions, PR, Alexa rank etc.) or did they simply
sell it as is?

[videoblogging] Re: List of social media sites

2008-06-06 Thread leesarbarnes
Hey Sheila, I'm not shocked that this has happened. I had someone 3
years ago grab content from my blog and post it to her own as if she
was the original author, however, I'm shocked that you wouldn't demand
that the person selling it at least give you credit. Or, maybe you
have and you just didn't share that here. But to "not care" that
someone is making money off your hard work is surprising to me. I'm
even angry for you.

Oh, and thanks for sharing your resource. I would suggest that you
also group the social media resource under broad categories as well.
For example, youtube, revver, blip, etc. should be under a category
called "Video Sharing" or something like that.

Then, monetize your list ;)

Thanks,
