Re: [videoblogging] What's the True Potential of the Videoblogging Community???

2005-09-05 Thread BevSykes

>>This whole disaster has demonstrated once again how worthless the
mainstream media is.Things were so bad on the ground in NO that even FOX
news reporters were calling bullshit on the scumfucks like bill oreilly and sean

things.<<

I found that film clip on the 'net and when I went
back to get the link, it was gone (I don't know if it was deliberate or
accidental).  Fortunately, I had downloaded it, so, despite my abhorrance
of people who post copyrighted material, I did post it to YouTube, at http://www.youtube.com/watch.php?v=597C0KPlb3w.

I am already seeing the spin doctors at work,
praising Bush for "leaping into the situation" and "directing all departments"
to make New Orleans their top priority.  Very nice, but where was he a
week ago?  (Oh--that's right.  On vacation and attending fund
raisers.  Now I remember.)  I have a feeling it is going to be the
vloggers who are going to write the REAL history of this disaster,
and it is the vloggers who are going to make it impossible to whitewash the Bush
administration's complicity in the death of thousands of people in New Orleans
and other Gulf coast communities.

[videoblogging] FireAnt

[videoblogging] Videoblogging for Beginners

2005-09-20 Thread BevSykes

I've been chatting with a couple of rank beginners,
like myself, who, while we find this group interesting, also find that most of
the time we are in wy over our heads.  I know that I've suggested
before a spin-off group for beginners like us, so I've just started one.
If there are any other floundering newbies on this list, check out:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Vblog/

(of course there's nothing to check out yet--I just
started it).  My statement for the group is:

"There is an excellent discussion group for
videoblogging. But it's designed for people who know what they're doing. This
group is for those of us who are just starting out, who are still struggling
with what exactly IS an RSS feed anyway? It's still good to join the other group
for to learn at the feet of the experts, but for those of us who can't
understand 90% of the content, this is the group for us!"

I will be curious to know who (if anybody) decides
to join this group!

>>It's really pretty incredible how
much stuff we use on a daily basis as videobloggers that is completely
free.  Feedburner, Blogger, Ourmedia, Flickr, the video editing software
that is built into our computers.  If you have the hardware and the
connection, everything else is free.  How wonderful and weird.
<<
It makes you wonder if we are living in the golden
age of vlogging.  I remember when almost nobody had a web site, when there
were no pop-up ads.  My friend was only the FIFTH person to decide to put a
journal up on line.  Times they have a-changed!   I wonder how
soon we are going to see all this "free" stuff begin to charge.

2005-09-22 Thread BevSykes

>>I think several services will begin
to charge - and I cannot blame them to be honest. If you have spent hundreds or
thousands of hours on something, you cannot be expected to not want some
monetary gain for it. We might all be communists, but we still need a place to
live and food to eat, right? <<
I wouldn't mind paying something.  I pay for
an account on Flickr, and don't begrudge them the money.  I would hate to
have it priced out of my ability to pay, though.  A $30/year fee (isn't
that what Flickr is?) seems reasonable.  I've been surprised, to tell you
the truth, at how much there IS out there that is free.  as you say, people
do need to live and food to eat.  Fotolog charged by the month and I didn't
mind paying that until the quality took a nosedive, then it became throwing good
money after bad.

[videoblogging] RSS Feed

says that it's doesn't contain links to the URLs of the movies.  I'm not
quite sure how you do that.  When I to go Feedburner to create an RSS feed,
it says there appears to be no "style" associated with the link and I don't know
what that means either.  Can anybody enlighten me?
Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean.  It sounds like a
great idea, but can you expand a bit?

Why don't we start making video comments on this group?
Then put themup on fireant? That would be so cool.  You would not
only have to read my dumbstatements but you could actually watch them come
out of mymouth...maybe its a bad idea LOL

Re: [videoblogging] the most prolific vlogger

2005-10-16 Thread BevSykes

Wow--what an endorsement.  Thank you,
Josh!  I'm a little embarrassed by it.  The quality of my videos can't
hold a candle to most of the ones you guys make--but I make up in quantity what
I lack in quality!

after spending some time perusing the vlogosphere...I finally
made my way to subscribing to Bev Sykes vlog on Blip.tv. (something i have been meaning to do after
seeing her emmy's video) I then discovered her blog. Not only does Bev
post videos EVERY DAY! she also writes interesting extended posts to her blog,
often with pictures included...I guess if I wasn't working and didn't
have classes/homework...maybe i could be putting something close to the amount
of the stuff that bev is doingbut in the mean time all I can do is give
her credit for kicking blogosphere/vlogosphere butt!Bev's vlog: http://blip.tv/posts/?user=basykesBev's
