Sieghard, I amusing Window-Eyes 8.0. I am highlighting the book that is masquerading as an album. I type Control I to get to Info, right arrowed to the Options tab, and then tab through Options. Re: Help in shazam: how to send fragment to server?
Hi. I'm going to provide a step by step on how I use Shazam. I'm sorry if this is more than you need. 1. Open the app. 2. You should land on a page with a button named Start Tagging. 3. Activate that button. 4. Now shazam is listening for the music. 5. If it can recognize the song, it will automatically show you the result. If not, you may need to turn the volume up, or bring the device closer to the speaker. If it still doesn't work, it may be that the song isn't in Shazams database. 6. From the result screen, you can see info about the song, such as the title, and other stuff. On some results, there may be a link to preview or buy it in iTunes. I don't know why it is on some songs, and not others. 7. If you want to tag another song, then tab done in the upper left corner. 8. Now you are back on the screen where you can start tagging. Hope this is what you need. Oh, and btw, if you want to see your previous tags, you can go the My tags tab down in the bottom left corner. Just be aware that if you select the Tag tab in the bottom just above the home button, it will automatically start listening. HTH. New Sonos app makes my iPhone sluggish
Hi all: I recently upgraded the Sonos app to version 3.8.3. The new cool feature is the option to play music on my iPhone to my Sonos system. Very cool and it works just fine. However, my iPhone is very sluggish when the new Sonos app is running. This weren't an issue in previous versions of the Sonos app. If I close down the Sonos app by pressing Home to do other stuff while Sonos is running in the background its very slow. It takes quite a while longer for VO to read the text under my finger when I tap a icon etc. Flicking through the home screen is also very sluggish. If I kill Sonos in the app switcher my iPhone returns to normal behavior (no lag). PS: I removed the Sonos app and reinstalled it but no luck. Anyone else seeing this? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Re: My Thoughts on ITunes 11
Hi, actually this isn't exactly true. If you have an older installer of iTunes, then you can remove what you have, and install from the older exe file. I think where you might run into issues is if the new iTunes has copied things over to your new iDevice which requires the newest iTunes. However I think that going back to 10.7 or 10.6 at least shouldn't be any trouble. I've provided links to download the iTunes 10.6 setup files below for those who are interested. Hi Raul, I'd be careful with that advice to downgrade. I haven't had time to really read up on this, but I heard something that when iTunes 11 is installed it upgrades your library and that apparently this may mean you can't downgrade to iTunes 10 any more. I found the following, hope it will help: 5 Tips to Make iTunes 11 Look Normal Again Nov 29, 2012 - 69 Comments So you got iTunes 11, launched it for the first time, and now you’re wondering where everything is and why it looks so different? You’re not alone, any time an apps user interface is redesigned it’s sure to leave some people confused as things are switched around, hidden, and adjusted. If you’re a creature of habit like me, you’ll want to make iTunes look “normal” again, that is, more familiar to what we’ve long become accustomed to with the past versions, and here are five simple tricks to do just that. Show All Your Music Again by Sorting by “Songs” Instead of Albums The new album view looks cool and all, but it can make it harder to browse music because it shows less music on screen. This is a super easy one to change, just click the “Songs” tab across the top and you’ll see a familiar list of music again. Phew! Show Sidebar to See Playlists, iPhones, iPads, and the iTunes Store This is probably the most important thing to change immediately, because for whatever reason Apple hid the sidebar by default and if you’re accustomed to seeing it all the time, that’s really silly. Showing the iTunes sidebar again is simple, and you’ll immediately be able to see all your playlists, iOS devices, and other stuff again: From iTunes, pull down the “View” menu and select “Show Sidebar” Show Status Bar How Many Songs in iTunes Library Again The status bar in iTunes tells you how many songs are in a library, what the playtime is, and how much space it takes up. This is useful knowledge particularly if you’re trying to stuff an album or two onto a pretty full iPod or iPhone. Showing the status bar again is easy: Pull down the “View” menu and select “Show Status Bar” Show Podcasts Again If you subscribe to podcasts in iTunes and listen to them frequently, you probably want quick and easy access to them from the sidebar. You’ll have to check this option in the preferences: Open iTunes Preferences and click on the “General” tab Check the box next to “Podcasts” under Library Lose the Color Scheming in Album View iTunes 11 changes the background color of the display window depending on album artwork. If you prefer your UI’s to be nice and simple, disabling that feature is easy: Open iTunes Preferences and choose on the “General” tab Uncheck the box next to “Use custom colors for open albums, movies, etc” -Original Message- From: Jen Colley Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2012 4:59 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: How do you get your iPod to come up in the new version of itunes? Re: Viber
Hello Viber users and the development team. While Viber has issues, it is definitely usable. Issues I am talking about and I think this is the obvious to VoiceOver users is some of the buttons are not labelled properly. For example if I double tap the viberbadge button next to a contact, it places a call to them. So the button should really be labelled as call, for example. Another issue is in the messages part of the app. When it comes to selecting the contact(s) who you want to send a message to, you have no way of knowing whether the right contact is selected. This is due to some poorly labelled buttons. The only way to know you have selected the right contact is to actually search for them and hope for the best. This isn't ideal, so this needs fixing sooner than later. Another issue at least for me is since I wear hearing aids, I use the speaker when on a call, both for making and receiving. I can use an earpiece, but I would have to take my hearing aid(s) out to make it more comfortable and also to minimize interfeerance between the hearing aid and the phone. So this is why I use the speaker personally. For the benefit of others like me, an option to use the speakerphone should be implemented. I am putting this out there in response to a message from the Viber developers. Others may wish to contribute as well. Thank you for reading. Chris. RE: iTunes categorization: was RE: My Thoughts on ITunes 11
Hi Sandy, I just googled Media Kind in iTunes 11 and found a bunch of links which indicate there is an issue which may or may not be a bug. Most of what I read talks about changing MP3 files which are treated as music to Podcasts using Media Kind. Here is a link to a thread which may be of use: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4553858?start=0tstart=0 One post seems to indicate you may get access to the Media Kind drop-down if you disable iTunes Match temporarily. I seem to remember you recently started using iTunes Match so this may in fact be true because I don't use it and for me the Media Kind was not greyed out. I did in fact try this. I added 3 MP3 files from an audio book and they were in my music library. I selected all 3 by holding the shift key and arrowing over them. Then I did the Control+I, iTunes asked if I wanted to edit multiple files and I said Yes. Then I arrowed to the Options tab, 3 tabs brought me to Media Kind. I now also had several additional options in there like Movie and Home Movie and some more. I selected Audio Book, pressed OK and the files were moved to the books library where I was able to start playing them. Introduction
Hi Listers, I am brand new to the group, and a new cell phone user! I have the iPhone 4, wish I'd known about the 4S, as I've heard great things about Siri. I'm now the proud owner of the Apple bluetooth keyboard and am trying to learn to use a touch screen, after many years of having a cell phone with tactile buttons. I've read the getting started book from National Braille Press, but there's a definitely learning curve involved. I've heard the Vocal app is a good program, I'd appreciate any advice and/or helpful tips in getting started. Noe -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. RE: recording apps for IPhone
Ootunes and TuneIn Pro can both record streaming audio. I prefer Ootunes for this purpose because by default, it is recording everything. That means if you hear something and think, I wish I'd recorded that, you actually have, all you have to do is save the recording. By default, Ootunes keeps the last 2 or 3 things you listened to, and overwrites those recordings unless you expressly save them. Very cool idea. Re: Removing Cards From Original IPad
As far as I am aware there is only one card for the iPad which would be used for cellular data access. The iPad would otherwise use wifi, hence it still receiving mail. Neither iPads nor iPod Touches or iPhones support the use of memory cards. Christopher Hallsworth On 01/12/2012 18:36, Lynda Ingraham wrote: Hi Everyone, We are selling our Ipad to Gazelle. Gift certificate/iTunes
Yesterday when II re-downloaded all my apps I did so under a previous password. When I looked in featured I saw how much I had left on the card. I then received a request from Apple I change my password, not my apple ID. This I did on the computer. Now I cannot find the amount any longer on Featured. Where do I go from here? Must I re-do my card? I tried re-entering the code, and of course it tells me it has been redeemed. Thanks in advance for any help. Hoping all this iPhone stuff quiets down soon! Re: TuneIn Radio Question.
It's actually not that bad. If you're using Tunein on your phone, go into Car Mode which is one of the buttons on the home screen after you launch Tunein. You are presented with a few buttons, one of which is search for stations, songs shows, etc. Dobule tap that it brings up the edit box and tap in, wcbs and hit search, It will bring up your results. Exit car mode and it will drop you in your results I believe, haven't done it in a day or two, but it will show you your results and you find the one you want and double tap it and you're golden. Hope that helps Thanks again and take care. On Dec 7, 2012, at 4:03 PM, Tara Prakash wrote: Oh god. There definitely is. But finding it is a nightmare for me in the latest version. It has always been that there is a one-time login to the website to get the directions. That has not changed; the directions are still accessible, as is nutrition and ingredients information. RE: TuneIn Radio Question.
Hi Jim, As others have pointed out, one way is to go into Car Mode then find the search option. Another is if you touch the spot on the screen where the Car Mode button is, then slide your finger down enough to get off the Car Mode Button, but not so far as to get on the next button--so you are in the seemingly dead area of the screen and double tap, a search option will magically appear. Actually, It is not very magical, it is just that they didn't label that spot on the screen. My sighted wife can see it, but nothing speaks when you touch that spot until you double tap. Blind Square and 4square
I have my Blind Square linked to my 4square account, and my 4square account linked to my Twitter account, but when i make a check in on 4square via Blind Square, it doesn’t show up on Twitter. is this the way it is, or is there something that I need to do? Re: Blind Square and 4square
Hi, just because Twitter knows about 4square, it doesn't mean that all 4square checkins are always tweeted. For example, you can turn that off and only tweet certain things from 4square. So, my guess is that blindsquare does the 4square checkin stuff, but since it's not aware of twitter itself, maybe that's why it's not tweeting it for you. -- Raul A. Mac and IOS Tutorials
Hey all, I am cross posting this to both Mac and iPhone lists. I have just launched a new section on my website which consists of short to the point guides and tutorials on Mac and IOS. There are almost 20 recordings you can listen to right on the website and as of now, since it's so new, focus on mainly beginner topics. These recordings are separate from the podcast, which has a new RSS feed and therefore new iTunes listing. So if you have subscribed to it in the past, sorry but you have to do it again. Just search How to be Blind in iTunes or Downcast and you will find it. I will constantly be adding to the tutorial pages with more advanced topics once the beginner ones are knocked out. App reviews will start as well if your into that. I am trying to build a good resource for the blind and visually impaired so if you have feedback please share it with me off list. To visit my tutorial page you can click this link http://htb2.com/tutorials/ To visit the How to be Blind homepage just go to www.htb2.com Thanks everyone! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. Relabeling buttons no longer working
Hi all, Since the last two I O S updates I have not been able to relabel buttons and apps. I do a two finger double tap and hold, I get the label element text box, but when I try to save my changes nothing happens. Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix? RE: Relabeling buttons no longer working
The other issue is that if you get it labeled, there may be other apps of the same type that end up with the same label. The Dictionary.com, Webster Dictionary and another one whose real name I can't remember, all are labelled dictionary. If you change one, they are all changed. I have reported this to accessibil...@apple.com but I am not holding my breath. Re: recording apps for IPhone
Apps like TuneIn and Ootunes backup recordings you save to iCloud and iTunes. Your iTunes backups are stored in a local folder on your computer. In Windows for example, it should be c:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\backup. If you make a backup in iTunes, apps like iBackupBot and iPhone Backup Extractor will let you browse the tree structure of your backups and copy files from them. So all you'd need to do is access the folder where Ootunes stores your data and copy the files to another folder on your computer. You could actually do this yourself, without the aid of any other program, if you make an unencrypted backup. The trouble is that file names are obfuscated so you might be hard pressed to tell what file is what, though of course the file size might help. This information was conveyed to me by an app developer of a radio app for iOS. No modifying your phone at all, no voiding warranties. Note: apps like iBackupBot allow you to modify backups as though they are regular folders on your hard drive. So you could, say, set up your phone as a new device, but restore your old SMS messages.
