RE: Standscan Pro improvements

2013-03-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Scott,

Since I don't have an iPhone 5 I can't do a direct comparison and in order
to get objective results one really would need to have both phones and do a
number of scans under the exact same conditions. However, I definitely
believe that having perfect lighting and a super stabil platform along with
the right distance and focus will make a much bigger difference than the
small improvement in the camera itself. This of course is why the Standscan
is such a useful device, really a game changer with respect to OCR on the
iPhone. After all, if you look at a device such as the Pearl from Freedom
Scientific, it is just a specialized digital camera mounted on a special
stand so you get exactly what the Standscan provides, a stabil platform and
good distance/focus. Of course the Pearl has other specialized features like
automatic detection for when you turn a page and all that, but I bet as a
camera it's no better than what the iPhone camera is and there is no reason
why the iPhone shouldn't be able to provide impressive scan results. The 4S
and even more so the 5 certainly have the processing power for accurate and
fast OCR and from the results Sandy and Anne posted the Standscan really
does make all the difference especially for us visually impaired users.

Take care,
Sieghard

Hello Sieghard.
I have not tried the 4s, so I'm not aware of how that compares, but
was told that the saffire lends in the 5 made a difference in terms of
working with glare. Not sure how much that would effect OCR, but I
gather that you think not much. So thank you for that info!
I ordered the standscan today, and am verry much looking forward to it.

Thank you for the informative email,
Scott

Providers/carriers in Thailand

2013-03-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello List,

I know Google will probably have some useful information and I will check,
but I also thought I ask whether there are any members from Thailand on the
Viphone list.

I am going to Thailand for 2 weeks starting around the middle of April and I
will, of course, take my trusty iPhone 4S. This was bought for full price
and unlocked from the Apple Store here in Canada so I can put in any SIM
card I want. Even though I am on holidays, I for one thing like to have the
ability to make phone calls there to maybe arrange for accommodation,
transportation and so on, at the same time I am self-employed and prefer to
be available for my staff if anything comes up. Therefore I do want to buy a
local SIM card and hopefully both prepaid minutes and prepaid data.

If there is anybody on the list who is from Thailand, maybe you have some
recommendations.

Thanks,

Sieghard

RE: Standscan Pro improvements

2013-03-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Scott and Denise,

OK, Scott, you maybe mix up the 3GS and the 4/4S/5. There is a very
noticeable improvement in the camera between the 3GS (a 3 MP camera) and the
4 (a 5 MP auto-focus camera). Yes, the 4S also has a better camera than the
4 (an 8 MP), but the difference between the 4S and 5 is minor. The 5 still
has the same 8 MP camera, just a slight improvement in the lens and maybe
the processing in low light. I highly doubt that in terms of OCR and with a
Standscan which guaranties perfect lighting and perfect stillness/focus, you
would notice any difference between the 4S and 5 and probably little
difference to the 4.

So, Denise, yes, the Standstand will work just fine with an iPhone 5. It is
actually not designed as an iDevice accessory and will work equally well
with any Android or Windows 7 Smartphone as it is meant to be simply an
accessory which gives you great lighting, a stabil surface to put your phone
on instead of holding it and the distance is designed to be perfect for most
uses.

I highly recommend you read the information at www.Standscan.com and of
course there have been dozens of messages by now which you can review in the
archives by searching for "Standscan". Both Sandy and Anne have posted very
impressive OCR results in some of these posts.

Thanks, Sieghard.

I was going to order the standscan, and I added the 12-volt adapter and was
surprised to see it show up twice. So I quit the process. Now seeing you're
message, I will go back and order the device and the battery holder for 12-v.

Re: Standscan Pro improvements

2013-03-16 Thread Scott Davert
Hi Deneese.
It will work best with the iPhone 5, but also works with the 4 and 4S.
I remember reading somewhere that OCR results were not so good with
the 4, but read elsewhere that there was some success with the 4s and
5. But that has nothing to do with the product itself, rather, the
camera in the phone.

Thanks to the person who took the inniciative to do this. I tried to

mind, but Standscan is a good example of a company who is responsive and
interested in making their product available.

The list member thought it wouldn't hurt to inquire and Harry replied
promptly and said that they had in fact already been considering such a
discount, but were just a bit hesitant because a few people already
purchased the Standscan and they were concerned how people who paid full
price would react if they now offered a discount. Said list member
suggested that in his opinion there could be a few people who might be
upset, but that on the other hand this happens all the time in daily
life. You might buy a box of laundry soap for $10 only to find it's on
sale 2 days later for $6.99. Furthermore, we are talking about a $30
product here and they are not offering a 50% discount and it is only
because a few list members contacted them and gave them such positive
feedback.

The anonymous list member has asked me or Cara Quinn to post the
following offer to the list: anybody who orders a Standscan Pro using
the discount "Viphone" during the check-out will get a 10% discount and
a free 9 Volt battery holder. This means you get the $29.95 Standscan
for approx. $27 + a free 9 Volt Battery Holder which normally I think is
$4.95. The 10% discount in fact applies to any item you order from their
website. Once again, use '"VIPHONE" without the quotes of course as a
discount code in the appropriate discount code field during the
check-out process.

If a StandScan Pro is part of the order, we will include a free 9V

Standscan Pro improvements

2013-03-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello again,

Harry has also emailed me and told me that they are about to start a new
production run on the Standscan. I know that many ordered it but only some
have already received it, but Harry would like to know if there are
suggestions for improvements. Here is his email, if you own a Standscan Pro
and have suggestions or feedback, please send it directly to

Hi Sieghard,

I forgot to mention that we will be doing a new production run probably
towards the end of next week.

If there are any suggestions on how we can improve the product for the
visually impaired, I would love to know and try to incorporate those changes
if possible.

I realise most of the units ordered are still on their way being delivered
so I will try and push production time back as far as possible to get the
most responses.

Thanks again.

Clarification on how to order Standscan Pro

2013-03-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello List,

I also ordered my Standscan Pro today. I asked Harry before how exactly this
should be done in order to get the discount and the free 12 Volt DC Power
Adapter.

Harry said that if you use the VIPHONE discount code, you actually should
not add the 12 Volt DC Power Adapter as an accessory to the shopping cart.

They will include it at no extra cost if you use the discount code during
check-out.

So, if you want the Standscan Pro with the 12 Volt DC Power Adapter you
order just the Standscan Pro and use the discount code.

If you want the Standscan Pro with the 12 Volt DC Power Adapter and the 12
Volt Battery Holder/Adapter, then you order the Standscan Pro and add the 12
Volt Battery Holder/Adapter for $4.95 as an accessory.

I hope this clarifies how to go about the order as I can't think of a better
way to describe this.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hi martin,

Podcasts in iTunes used to be treated just as any other media which means
you could sync all podcasts or selected podcasts and they used to show up
in

the Music app under "More". However, since Apple has their own Podcast app
you now have to install it and I think then you can still sync Podcasts.

However, if you enjoy Podcasts I would highly recommend you invest the $2
or

$3 (can't remember exactly how much it costs) into an app called Downcast.
This is considered to be one of the best Podcast apps and it is fully
accessible. It is much more feature rich than Apple's own Podcast app. I
never even subscribe to Podcasts in iTunes any more since I prefer to
listen

to them on my iPhone with Downcast. You can subscribe to the Podcasts
directly wit the app and decide how you want to handle the Podcasts, e.g.
download the latest, the 2 newest etc. You can also not download the
Podcast

at all and just stream it.

Sieghard

Hi Rex,

Simply go to www.Standscan.com, there you can read about the Standscan
and
the accessories they offer as well as a few other products they also
sell.

Make sure you select the Standscan Pro and remember the discount code is
VIPHONE.

As Raul pointed out, by using the discount code you get the Standscan Pro
including the 9 Volt Battery holder at a 10% discount and in addition to
that you get the 12 Volt wall adapter at no charge.

Standscan also offers a second battery holder which uses 8 Double A
batteries. At 1.5 Volt each, 8 AA batteries will give you the full 12
Volts
which will give you the brightest light from the LED's, using a 9 Volt
battery will be a little less efficient and according to Sandy's
experience
may not give you always as good a scan result. The 12 Volt Battery
Holder is
an accessory and is $4.95 and you also get the 10% discount if you
order it
together with the actual Standscan. This means for approx.. $31.50 you
get
it all, Standscan Pro including 9 Volt holder, 12 Volt adapter and 12
Volt
battery holder. Normally the Standscan Pro alone is $29.95 and the
adapter
and 12 Volt holder are extras at $4.95 each. I believe their shipping
from
Hong Kong is about $8 so altogether it will cost you about $40.

Hi. You are correct that the holder is already included. There was a
slight
error in the offer and what they actually mean is that the adapter is now
included with the offer. I wrote a separate message in a separate thread

The list member thought it wouldn't hurt to inquire and Harry replied
promptly and said that they had in fact already been considering such
a discount, but were just a bit hesitant because a few people already
purchased the Standscan and they were concerned how people who paid

might be upset, but that on the other hand this happens all the time

about a $30 product here and they are not offering a 50% discount and
it is only because a few list members contacted them and gave them

The anonymous list member has asked me or Cara Quinn to post the
following offer to the list: anybody who orders a Standscan Pro using
the discount "Viphone" during the check-out will get a 10% discount
and a free 9 Volt battery holder. This means you get the $29.95

Re: Voice Over friendly ring tone app

2013-03-16 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi there. I am glad you find the app useful. It is true that it is not very
professional, but if you're looking for fun ring tones then this is the best
one that I have found. When you mentioned emailing the ringtones to yourself,
are you meaning on the regular PC or everything from the iPhone? It is my
understanding in order for ringtones to be added successfully, they need to be
done via iTunes on the computer. Although, there is a way to do it from the
iPhone since you can purchase ring tones from the iTunes app in the iPhone
itself. I have never done this since I have never purchased music or tones from
iTunes. So I admit that I do not have much experience with this. I always make
my own ring tones or get them from an app like the one I suggested.

Songza on the iPad.

2013-03-16 Thread Amy Billman

Hello all!

For those of you who have used Songza on the iPad, what are your
experiences?
It seems to work all right on the iPhone, but apparently something is broken
in their iPad app, at least it seems that way.
I so love apps when you double tap on buttons like search etc, and it does
nothing. LOL!
Is it just me, or are others having similar issues?
I always find it strange when an app works well on one iOS platform and not
another.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Hello, my wife can ask siri for a zip code; when I do it, it says sorry I don’t

Any ideas why?
All of our settings are the same.

On another note, how does raise to speak work?

Thank you.

RE: Fitbit

2013-03-16 Thread ptrholdstock
It's only one four digit code and it only needs inputting once. I'm pleased
to say the issue of strange results seems to have gone after I charged the
unit. I'd recommend giving it a two hour charge when you first purchase. I'm
very impressed with it, especially combined with the Aria scales. All very
clever and very useful. I'm now trying to link it up with the new Microsoft
Helath dashboard. I also want to connect my Ifit crosstrainer but can't find
a service where I can connect both Ifit and Fitibit devices so if anyone is
aware of one please let me know.

click on the save option and I download it and can play it and
other similar files in whatever application I wish. I am not sure
why so many people are having such a bad time with this. I can try
to find some other place to house it. I have uploaded it to

 Hi all,

I got it to play using internet explorer. It took a little while,
but I did here the choice to open or save. I then used alt+N to
choose play. ITunes then opened, and the podcast began to play.
The entire process took more than a minute, but it did work.

Re: Voice Over friendly ring tone app

2013-03-16 Thread Sherrie
Thanks for this heads up. I downloaded the app and was amazed at the number
of ring tones available. The directions were very complete and easy to
understand. I also liked the fact that is was super easy to just email the
ringtones to myself and put them into iTunes just by playing the ring tone
attachment.

The following is a good source for cool ring tones. Once you download them
using the app they show up in the file sharing section of iTunes when your
phone is connected. You get 10 free downloads and adds. If you upgrade to no
ads then you also get unlimited downloads. The cost for that is $1.99. Have
fun.

Making Videos with iPhone 5?

2013-03-16 Thread Lisa belville

Hi, all.

Yesterday I shot my first video using the iPhone and attached it to a text
message. let's just say I was impressed with how easy it was and how well
VO provided feedback.

The people watching the video said it looked Okay visually, but suggested
that I turn the phone sideways I'm thinking landscape? because the actual
video portion was very small and there was a black border around it.

I'm totally blind, so going on what people are telling me. What can I do to
position the phone so that videos look better?

I use the back facing camera, and when I made the video, the phone was in
portrait mode. Would choosing landscape help visually?

Hi Andy,

I have an iPhone 4S, but I seem to remember some people said the iPhone 5
had maybe slightly better sound, but I couldn't say from my own experience.

Also, if I were looking for a phone but wasn't absolutely in a position
where I had to buy one right this moment or maybe I should say in the next 3
months, I would not buy an iPhone 5 now. There are a lot of rumours that
Apple is releasing this year's iPhone in June again rather than in the fall.
They are of course rumours, but I think in the next 4 to 6 weeks we should
hear more about this and see if there are leaks to indicate that this will
be so.

I also saw some messages about some new thing where Apple will be working
with a number of hearing aid manufacturers to offer very good integration
between the iPhone and hearing aids. I could easily imagine that this is
something that may be a feature of iOS 7, but I am not sure if there is also
a hardware component to it. If it is strictly a matter of iOS then it should
work fine with the iPhone 5, 4S and maybe even back to the 4. If special
hardware is needed it would only be something that is supported in the new
iPhone that's coming this year.

I highly recommend the Today in iOS podcast, the guy who is doing that
Podcast, Rob, has been at it since just before the first iPhone came out in
2007 and I think what he presents is well balanced and very informative.

Hi Chris,

I'm going to paste in a tip that Mario left in another thread
discussing FiRe that you participated in, with subject title:
"Recording while out". It doesn't show up in the search thread
results example I wrote up for Fanus, where I listed how to find the
various starting posts of threads that discuss FiRe 2, because the
originating post doesn't mention FiRe. But if you read through the
subject link results of a search for posts that Neal made on FiRe, and
compared them with the subject link titles of posts on FiRe that began
threads, you'd have picked this one up. You'd also have found it if
you read up and down the threads of all of Neal's posts on FiRe.

tip: when you have recorded something, the playback cursor is alwais
at the end of the track, and you can't click the play button.

To go to the start of the track, disable vo and double tap the middle
left and right sections of the screen.

Mario also gave a brief post of where to change the settings for the
Record button action in that thread. By the way, FiRe isn't the only
music app that bypasses the normal Mic recording, but many of the
others are not accessible. take a look at this list of Core Audio iOS
apps from the iOS Musician page:
http://www.iosmusician.com/2012/06/list-of-core-audio-ios-apps.html
Thie list on thus page can be read with Safari Reader (e.g., on an iOS
device, double tap the "Reader" button in the Safari address bar, or
on a Mac, press Command-Shift-R to toggle into and out of the reader,
to read only the article and not the surrounding web page contents).
However, if you navigate by headings through the full page, you'll
find a list of currently oh sale music apps (heading level 2). This
includes the Korg synth apps like iKaossikator at half price ($9.99 vs
$19.99 until March 20). Haven't tried this myself, but the deals are
posted up at AppleVis with links to the app and podcast entries.

HTH with both FiRe and information on using the Mail Archive search
functions.

Cheers,

Esther

Hi Fanus,

To change the button action so you can record by double tapping the Record
button instead of sliding it to the right (which you'd have to do with
VoiceOver turned off) in FiRe 2, go to Settings (4th of 5 tabs on the
bottom), double tap, then flick right to "Transport" and double tap, Then,
on the "Transport" screen, under the "Record Button"
heading, flick right to "Button Controls". A further flick right will tell
you the switch button status, which is initially set to "off".
Double tap to set this to "switch button, on", and you will notices that
some of the other options under the "Record Button" heading, like "Slide
To
Stop", will disappear. I also set the switch button for "Hold to Record"
to

"switch button, off", so you don't have to keep holding down the "Record
Button" for the length of your recording session.

The ability to change the way of starting recording in Settings by tapping
instead of sliding the "Record" button is a recent modification (version
2.6, January 2013). This is basically the reason that Annie and I stopped
playing with this app when this new setup for FiRe 2 appeared in late
2011.

Fanus, I think Carla was mainly thanking me for some old tips on using the
Mail Archive page to search for posted content on this list, more than for
describing how to change the Record button action in FiRe 2. Let me tell
you how you can find out the answers to your questions for yourself, by
using the link to the Mail Archive page that appears at the end of every

First, just typing search terms into the text box on that page and

Good Saturday morning, all!
Here's another demo, (not done by SpeedDots,) of the Beatbox.

we did in our demo, but it also reaffirms, and hopefully clears up the very
obvious misconception that everyone (including us until we saw it

and will, show up as an airplay device.

RE: question IPhone 5

2013-03-16 Thread Rose Combs
I have a 4S and my husband now has a 5, sound seems to be exactly the same
to me and if we are sitting in his room at the hospital and both doing
something on our phones I get confused, he can see his, I can't and
sometimes I have no clue which phone is talking. Last weekend we were both
playing Clever Clues for example I am just starting on the 4-letter words
and he was finishing the whole 6-letter clues sometimes I'd hear a phrase or
a clue and think it was my game and find myself looking for his words. It
was actually funny.

Subject: RE: question Iphone 5

RE: Adding Ring Tones to iTunes library - Was Re: Voice Over friendly ring tone app

2013-03-16 Thread Rose Combs
Wow! When I added ring tones from one of the apps a couple of years ago, I
e-mailed them to my computer e-mail, open them and they went right into the
tones area. Then I did a sync tones and every one of the tones I selected
are still in my tones folder.

I recently bought about four tones from the store, easy as pie.

The unfortunate thing is that I set a tone for a particular contact and it
works only some of the time and if it doesn't it reverts to the original
ring tone for the phone. I go in and check and the correct tone is selected
on the contact and the next time they call it works but then another time it
goes back to the marimba sound, which I don't even want to use because
everyone else does where I work and spend about 80% of my free time lately,
the hospital.

ring tone app

Hi, you have to use iTunes to get the tones into the iPhone for use. So,
this app for example, has an entry in the file sharing section of iTunes. To
get there, connect your phone to the PC, bring up iTunes, go to the device
where it shows the name of your phone and the battery charge status. Tab
until you reach the apps button or tab. Press space to activate it. Now you
are in the apps section of your phone. Now, keep tabbing until you get to
the list of file sharing apps. Once you reach this list, arrow down until
you get to the app which has the files you want to save. In this case, look
for the ring tones app. When you reach it with down arrow, tab once and you
will see the list of files it contains. If you've downloaded ring tones
prior to all this, they will be listed here. Using shift-down arrow, select
all the ring tones you want to save to the computer and tab to the save as
button. Press space to activate this button and a standard save as dialog
will open. You can press shift-tab to see the list of folders. Navigate this
to choose which folder you want. I recommend a temp folder called ring tones
on your desktop for starters. Giving you the steps on how to create folders
and copying and pasting is a bit out of scope for this question, so I hope
you feel comfortable in doing this. Once the tones are saved to the folder
you want, close iTunes. The next step is for you to copy the ring tone files
into the automatically add to itunes folder. Be sure to put just the files
there, not the actual folder. Now when you restart iTunes, the ring tones
will automagically be added to the library. If you have your iPhone set to
sync all ring tones, then they will all be added the next time you sync your
phone. If this isn't set up that way, then you will have to tell your phone
to sync all tones.

RE: Attention: Standscan Pro discount code and bonus

2013-03-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Les,

This is probably a stupid question, but did you make sure you wrote VIPHONE
into the discount code field?

Anyhow, just write to Standscan and tell them and I'm sure they take care of
it. Here again the offer which maybe sounds more complicated than it is:

Order a Standscan Pro which includes a 9 Volt Battery Holder for $29.95 and
you get 10% off, discounted price should be $26.96.
You also get (are supposed to get) the 12 Volt DC Power Adapter which
normally is $4.45 at no extra charge.
This means the value of the Standscan Pro and 12 Volt adapter normally is
$29.95 + $4.45 = $34.40 and you get it for $26.9 - a saving of $7.44 which
just about offsets the shipping cost.

If you were billed incorrectly just send an email to i...@standscan.com and
tell them what happened, that you are visually impaired and used the VIPHONE
discount code.

Hello,

I just placed my order prior to the reduction of 10 percent and the free
offering of the adaptor. I am wondering if I should send the company an
email to see if I can get in on the deal. This wouldn't be the first time
that I have missed out on a sale of a product, as I was one of many that
paid full price for Fleksy, but don't resent it. I am just seeking advise
that's all and if I still pay the full price for the StandScan, I will still
treasure it in order to use an OCR app on the phone with increased accuracy.
I look forward to any recommendations on how to proceed.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The thing doesn't come from the US at all. It is shipped directly from Hong

Hello List,

A Viphone member who prefers to remain anonymous recently thought to ask if
Standscan would consider offering Viphone members a small incentive/discount
since Harry expressed to that person that he was happy their product was of
such practical use for visually impaired iPhone users. The Standscan was not
developed with the blind users in mind, but Standscan is a good example of a
company who is responsive and interested in making their product available.

The list member thought it wouldn't hurt to inquire and Harry replied
promptly and said that they had in fact already been considering such a
discount, but were just a bit hesitant because a few people already
purchased the Standscan and they were concerned how people who paid full
price would react if they now offered a discount. Said list member suggested
that in his opinion there could be a few people who might be upset, but that
on the other hand this happens all the time in daily life. You might buy a
box of laundry soap for $10 only to find it's on sale 2 days later for
$6.99. Furthermore, we are talking about a $30 product here and they are not
offering a 50% discount and it is only because a few list members contacted
them and gave them such positive feedback.

The anonymous list member has asked me or Cara Quinn to post the following
offer to the list: anybody who orders a Standscan Pro using the discount
"Viphone" during the check-out will get a 10% discount and a free 9 Volt
battery holder. This means you get the $29.95 Standscan for approx. $27 + a
free 9 Volt Battery Holder which normally I think is $4.95. The 10% discount
in fact applies to any item you order from their website. Once again, use
'"VIPHONE" without the quotes of course as a discount code in the
appropriate discount code field during the check-out process.

If a StandScan Pro is part of the order, we will include a free 9V battery
holder (they do not need to purchase the 9V holder). So for $27 they get
$34.4 value.
This is almost 25% off, I hope they will be happy with this deal as I have
worked hard to get the best possible.

Would really appreciate if you could help to have this posted this over on
the forum.

Thanks,
Harry

2013-03-16 Thread Esther

HTH with both FiRe and information on using the Mail Archive search
functions.

Cheers,

Esther

Hello,

I just placed my order prior to the reduction of 10 percent and the free
offering of the adaptor. I am wondering if I should send the company an email
to see if I can get in on the deal. This wouldn't be the first time that I have
missed out on a sale of a product, as I was one of many that paid full price
for Fleksy, but don't resent it. I am just seeking advise that's all and if I
still pay the full price for the StandScan, I will still treasure it in order
to use an OCR app on the phone with increased accuracy. I look forward to any
recommendations on how to proceed.

Thanks in advance.

Hello List,

A Viphone member who prefers to remain anonymous recently thought to ask

incentive/discount since Harry expressed to that person that he was
happy their product was of such practical use for visually impaired
iPhone users. The Standscan was not developed with the blind users in

discount, but were just a bit hesitant because a few people already
purchased the Standscan and they were concerned how people who paid full
price would react if they now offered a discount.

I find it interesting that they would offer a less expensive, less effective
accessory at no charge yet offer the one which works best at regular price.

Just my two cents.

Hi Rex,

Simply go to www.Standscan.com, there you can read about the Standscan and
the accessories they offer as well as a few other products they also sell.

The 12 Volt Battery Holder
is
an accessory and is $4.95 and you also get the 10% discount if you order
it

together with the actual Standscan. This means for approx.. $31.50 you get
it all, Standscan Pro including 9 Volt holder, 12 Volt adapter and 12 Volt
battery holder. Normally the Standscan Pro alone is $29.95 and the adapter
and 12 Volt holder are extras at $4.95 each. I believe their shipping from
Hong Kong is about $8 so altogether it will cost you about $40.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi. You are correct that the holder is already included. There was a
slight

error in the offer and what they actually mean is that the adapter is now
included with the offer. I wrote a separate message in a separate thread
from Harry which clarifies this. I hope this makes sense to you guys.

The anonymous list member has asked me or Cara Quinn to post the
following offer to the list: anybody who orders a Standscan Pro using
the discount "Viphone" during the check-out will get a 10% discount
and a free 9 Volt battery holder. This means you get the $29.95
Standscan for approx. $27 + a free 9 Volt Battery Holder which
normally I think is $4.95. The 10% discount in fact applies to any
item you order from their website. Once again, use '"VIPHONE" without
the quotes of course as a discount code in the appropriate discount
code field during the check-out process.

2013-03-16 Thread Les Kriegler
Hi Sandy,

Thanks for all of the great info you provide regarding scanning with the
iPhone. I just ordered the StandScan Pro with 12 volt adapter and 12 volt
battery pack, and upon your recommendation, TextGrabber as well. Can you
explain the process of scanning with this app? I made certain English was
selected in settings. Are there other settings to modify? Within the main
interface, I saw an option foe taking a photo. Is this the first step in the
process? Are there any help files or a manual for this app? Thanks for the
assist.
