Looking for a solution: blindy.tv and multiple-stream playlists

2014-02-16 Thread Jordan Norregaard
Sometimes I enjoy the site Blindy.tv...welll, not their channels
directly. I download their AudioTV playlist that has about 20 or so
channels. FOr example, I'm listening to Myth Busters radio, a station
that someone put up, and is on the AudioTV playlist downloaded from
blindy.tv. I tried clicking on the playlist through safari. It plays
the first stream of the playlist, but no others. I wonder would
dropbox would work as a work-around? For anyone who'd like to
experiment, the uRL is below. Again, this is a safe and legitimate
playlist I am playing on my PC using winamp right now...I just wanna
plsy it on my iPad!

How to move item to the doc on iPad mini

2014-02-16 Thread Fanus
Hello list
I try to move the settings item onto the doc of the iPad

settings but when I double and tap and hold on settings,
even when I move my finger slowly to the bottom edge it
won't move to the doc. What do I do wrong?

You should be able to use the double tap and hold gesture and then drag the

RE: How to move item to the doc on iPad mini

2014-02-16 Thread Richard Turner
You may have to move something out of the dock to make room for another app.
Use the pass-through gesture, the Double-Tap and hold, until you hear the
tones and VoiceOver should say something like moving xxx app.
Slide your finger where you want the app and lift.
If it won't go into the dock, then double-tap and hold on an app in the dock
and slide it up onto the page. If that page is already full, move to a page
where there is room and move the one out of the dock.

Then slide the other app into the dock.

Then, if the app you moved out of the dock is one you want on the page where
the app that is now in the dock was located, you can slide it to that page.

Richard

You may have to move something out of the dock to make room
 for another app.
Use the pass-through gesture, the Double-Tap and hold, until
 you hear the
tones and VoiceOver should say something like moving xxx
 app.
Slide your finger where you want the app and lift.
If it won't go into the dock, then double-tap and hold on an
 app in the dock
and slide it up onto the page. If that page is already
 full, move to a page
where there is room and move the one out of the dock.

Then slide the other app into the dock.

Then, if the app you moved out of the dock is one you want
 on the page where
the app that is now in the dock was located, you can slide
 it to that page.

RE: Wifi connect speed

2014-02-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Speedtest, however, does not provide the Wi-Fi connected speed, it measures the
speed of your 3G/LTE connection if you are connected to 3G/LTE. If you are
connected to Wi-Fi it gives you the speed of whatever internet connection you
have, ADSL or Cable, and once again that is the connection speed to the outside
world.

The Speedtest app is from www.Speedtest.org http://www.Speedtest.org where
you can go on a computer and check the speed of your computer’s internet
connection.

I am not sure if the speed at which you are connected to your router is
available in iOS, I have never seen it displayed anywhere. I’m sure there is an
app out there for that.

Regards,

Sieghard

Re: How to move item to the doc on iPad mini

2014-02-16 Thread Tom Lange
Yes, I did. I got the three quick tones, and VO announced that I was moving
Settings. I moved it diagonally down the screen since Settings was toward
the top center, and I had to move it down to the botttom and let go of it
rather quickly so that I wouldn't accidentally move it over to another
screen.

It actually took me a couple of attempts to do it, but I got it done.

Hello Richard
Perhaps you did not read my email properly. I said that I
moved the messages app out of the doc to make space for
settings but it does not want to move to the doc. I can
move
it anywhare on the screen but it does not want to move to
the doc. You ar right as far as moving something out of
the
doc because that is how I accomplished it in the past. Now
I
wonder if this is a IOS7 bug.

You may have to move something out of the dock to make
room
for another app.
Use the pass-through gesture, the Double-Tap and hold,
until
you hear the
tones and VoiceOver should say something like moving xxx
app.
Slide your finger where you want the app and lift.
If it won't go into the dock, then double-tap and hold on
an
app in the dock
and slide it up onto the page. If that page is already
full, move to a page
where there is room and move the one out of the dock.

Then slide the other app into the dock.

Then, if the app you moved out of the dock is one you want
on the page where
the app that is now in the dock was located, you can slide
it to that page.

HTH,
Richard

SiriusXM Radio online 30-day Free Trial as Of Today, 02/16/2014

2014-02-16 Thread Teresa Cochran
Hi, all,

Forgive the cross-post, but I thought this would apply to both lists.

I don't know how long this will be in effect, but SiriusXM is offering a 30-day
free trial for new subscribers. You have to provide credit-card info, but you
can call to cancel before the trial ends. I believe this offer is only
available in the US. I started mine two days ago, and I'm having fun with it.
There's olympic coverage of full US men's hockey, women's medal games, sports
talk, sports play-by-play, and lots of music channels. The IOS app is
completely accessible, but the computer app is not accessible at all.

2014-02-16 Thread Donald L. Roberts
On my 4S, I have both radium and the Sirius XM app. Is there some
reliable way to determine the Sirius channel number to which I wish to
tune? For example, I know that Escape is on XM 69. It is easy with
Radium to locate by typing in Escape and selecting from the few choices
provided. But suppose an NBA game is on a designated channel. How can
I locate that channel number?

Thanks.

2014-02-16 Thread Teresa Cochran
I'm still trying to figure this out myself, as I don't find a specific channel
listing. I know that Sports Zone is Channel 92 and that 6, 7, and 8 are 60s,
70s and 80s, but that's as far as it goes for me. I'd appreciate knowing more
about this as well. I think that once you are tuned in, you can press the
action button to get more info about the channel, and it often lists the
channel number.

entirely from my iPhone 5s. I'll delete them, and then do a mass delete

not all of the ones I've deleted, but some. So, I again delete them and

BARD Mobile Stuttering

2014-02-16 Thread SSEric

I found an instance of words being repeated in a book. On rewinding, I
confirmed it is a repeat and not a technical glitch. There may have been a
glitch in the production, however.

The book is a recent release, so perhaps someone else has downloaded it and can
confirm. It is: The Gods of Guilt by Michael Connelly. The repeat occurs at
about eight hours 22 minutes 40 seconds.

yes, the repeating of words on the scene but happens to me. So, it's not a

want your music to fade out as you use VO? I need this for a radio show.

Basically, when you press the volume buttons, whatever is playing will
be adjusted. The simplest way to deal with this is to play something
and set the volume while it's playing. You can set VO and alerts not
to be adjusted with the volume buttons.

I do have the ringer volume at 100% where I wish them to be and have

Adjusting the tones and other volumes like text and the start/stop

voiceover volume and yes I have tried to set vo with the volume

I must be missing something or not doing something quite right, or I
am just doomed to have a phone with volumes that will be changing all

voiceover is speaking if ones does not want this?

A bug in IOS 7 could show up on an iPhone and not an iPad. An example of

HTH,
Richard

2014-02-16 Thread Lori Dent
hi Joe,

Well, first let me say that I do have dropbox installed on my computer hear at
home and I also have dropbox installed on my Iphone 5. What I'm having
difficulties with is how to get lets say for example photos from my computer
to dropbox on my I phone.

So I need step by step directions on how to select the photo I want. Where do
I put the photo at once I select the photo and how to move the photo from one
spot to another to put it into my dropbox on my PC so that I can cync the
dropbox on my pc to my I phone.

I have never done anything with dropbox so I have no clue to what I'm doing
hear. I guess once I learn how to do this a few times or so then I should be
good to go. Also do I need to create a folder either in my dropbox folder on
the pc or do I do this on my I phone.

So, I would need step by step directions on how to do all the steps needed to
put a photo or document into dropbox from my pc to my I phone? Sorry to keep
asking for help with this but I've tried to do this on my own and I'm not
getting anywhere. Like I've said this is all new territory for me. So any
suggestions and help would be very much appreciated . Thanks. Take care.

Re: other apps beside dropbox out there

2014-02-16 Thread Chris Chaffin

Hello Lori,

Here are a few simple steps I use to put things in my dropbox so it will
sync to my phone.
If you have further questions, please feel free to email me off list, and I
will do my best to help you.

On your computer, you have a dropbox folder. And within this dropbox
folder, you will have some subfolders, one of which is Photos.

Now you can create more subfolders in your dropbox folder if you wish.
And of coarse, anything you put inside your dropbox folder will also show up
on your phone automatically.

How to get to your dropbox folder on your computer.
I am using Windows 7 with Jaws.

1. On your computer, open up your system tray, this can differ depending on
the screen reader you are using.

2. Arrow down to dropbox and hit enter.
3. When I do this, an Open Dropbox menu button comes up.
4. Just hit the space bar on that button, and a menu will drop down.
5. The first choice in that menu will be to Open your dropbox folder. Just
hit enter on this, and a window will open, and you will be in your dropbox
folder.

You will notice a Photos folder. This is where you will copy and paste any
pictures you want to upload to dropbox and be able to access on your phone.
For documents, you can create a documents folder, or however you would like
to organize it.

Again, if you have more questions, please feel free to contact me off list.

can call to cancel before the trial ends. I believe this offer is only
available in the US. I started mine two days ago, and I’m having fun with it.
There’s olympic coverage of full US men’s hockey, women’s medal games, sports
talk, sports play-by-play, and lots of music channels. The IOS app is
completely accessible, but the computer app is not accessible at all.

here’s the direct link:

Have fun,

Teresa
