Hi all Just a comment on the Amazon app hence the change of subject line, I have the Amazon app on both iPhone 4s and iPad Mini 2 but rarely use it because of its difficulties with VoiceOver. Anker do smaller packs the size of lipstick I would say, but they only charge the phone once and won't charge a tablet at all. Re: Looking for a keyboard for my iPhone 6 that has a toggle on off switch
Aren’t the Logitech keyboards rather huge? I don’t want an extra backpack just to carry around a keyboard. My idea of a keyboard for the phone is one that’s either foldable or so small it fits in a pocket. Not that i myself use external keyboards at all, but if i were to get one, that’s what i would want to have. This though is only my opinion. /Krister 2 mar 2015 kl. 21:48 skrev Neal Ewers neal.ew...@ravenswood.org: Hi Aman, and Thanks. I just ordered the k811. Thanks to both you and Jonathan. I do hope I like the touch, but it will be nice to have a keyboard without a switch that turns on and off whenever it accidently presses up against something when I carry it. Not a very good design in my opinion. Also nice to have it be used on more than one device without paring it each time I want to change devices. Someone should do a review of this keyboard on AppleVis. Hmmm, perhaps there is already one there, If not, I may just have to do that. Thanks again. Also, do you care about specific hotkeys? For non-folding, I really like the Logitech K81x keyboards (they have the k810 and k811). They have the on-off switch, they can use several devices at a time, and the key feel is, in my very subjective view, very nice. It just feels like you’re typing on keys rather than on mush. The same may be said of the Logitech K480, but it’s a good deal bigger than the k81x units and has a ledge. Both can unlock the iPhone nicely and operate the unit with hotkeys if you want them. I am tempted to argue that the K81x and K480 have keys that are as good or better than the Apple board, but again, this is subjective. If you want a folding one, try the Amtop folding bluetooth keyboard. It’s nice and cheap, the key feel is good, it has a switch, and it’s generally a good unit. I returned it because I didn’t like the key spacing, but I suspect most people would like it. I have not used it for a long period, though, whereas I think my K810 is nearly two years old, and I am very hard on keyboards. HTH. Reading with Ibooks and a braille display
Hi all, is there any way to get ibooks, like kindle does when having the setting on for automatically turning pages as you pan,to not show that you are on the next page but to just keep showing the text even after you go to the next page? Hope I am making sense. I am sure that at one point, yesterday, it was just smoothly going through the text and not displaying that, but I don’t know if it was a fluke or something I might have done that I didn’t realize I did at the time. If there is any way to do this, I would be very grateful. thakns. -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. Re: anger battery bank
I would like to point out something way cool. For Christmas my wife bought a new device for me. I have no clu what they call it but here’s what it does. It takes the standard 3 prong A/C wall outlet in the US and when you plug this device in, it will take up both outlets. It will then give you one outlet plus where the other outlet should be, you get 2USB 3 ports which will recharge iPhones or iPads or anything else needing recharging from a USB port. I tried it with my Victor Reader Stream II and it charges that too. My wife didn’t know which one I’d like so she bought me a second device. Again, you plug it in to a US standard wall outlet and it gives you 3 standard 3 prong A/C outlets one right next to each other and 2 USB 3 charging ports. So, I stuck the smaller one in our motor home and the larger one in the bathroom wall outlet by the double sink counter. Both these devices have a built in braker. As people collect more and more portable devices, they will also recharge my Plantronics Voyager Legend too. As more and more of these devices come on the market, people are going to need more and more outlets that can recharge them. Just thought you’d like to know. Re: Looking for a keyboard for my iPhone 6 that has a toggle on off switch
The Amazon Basics Bluetooth wireless keyboard also has a slide switch to turn on and off. It runs on 2 triple batteries wich seems to last quite a long time. From: Alan Lemly Sent: Monday, March 02, 2015 1:57 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Looking for a keyboard for my iPhone 6 that has a toggle on off switch Neal, I have the Verbatim Wireless Bluetooth Folding Keyboard and though I've never really used it, I can attest that it has the kind of on/off switch that shouldn't give you a problem. Although the Verbatim switch is small, it does slide to the left to turn on and to the right to turn off and has a definite clicked into position feel. This is a full keyboard and folds in two which makes it more portable for traveling. It has a sliding lock switch along the top edge left of center that keeps the keyboard fairly stiff although using it on a table rather than a lap is probably recommended. It comes with its own case and even has an iPhone stand that slides into the case itself although I'm not sure it will hold an iPhone 6. I never used the stand but tested that it held my iPhone 5 okay. The keys are actual keys with no membrane and have a good feel to them. As I said, I never really used this because I became familiar with the on-screen keyboard and the original Fleksy app and decided I didn't need a separate keyboard. Amazon sells this for $43.99 at this link: http://www.amazon.com/Verbatim-Wireless-Bluetooth-Folding-Keyboard/dp/B004L9LT2E/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronicsie=UTF8qid=1425330436sr=1-1keywords=verbatim+bluetooth+wireless+keyboard Here's a TinyURL to the same link since that last one was 3 lines long and might break: http://tinyurl.com/oxwckn7 More than one vendor sells this at Amazon and the main one that came up when clicking the above link charges a little over $40 but adds on over $6 in shipping. Other vendors including Amazon itself are listed on the right side of the screen and by getting this from Amazon, you get free shipping since it costs over $35. I've had this in my drawer for going on two years now but it's been powered off and the LED still burns brightly so the 2 AAA batteries must last a while. Good luck with your keyboard hunting. I have to take out the batteries every time I put it in my equipment case else the button at the end is often pressed to the on position and my keyboard starts talking to my iPhone. Someone told me about the Logitech keys to go keyboard which does have a slide switch, but it is a keyboard under a membrane. Evidently the keys are able to be felt, but I don’t know how hard it would be to type on it. I like the fact that it is rechargeable and the battery is supposed to last for months. Does anyone use this keyboard, or are there others you might suggest that have a toggle with for on and off? Thanks much for your help. Re: anger battery bank
Yes, you charge the battery back up device while at home and then when you leave home and notice that your iPhone, iPad, iPod or a ton of other devices that charge via a USB cable, is loosing the battery power, just plug the USB end of your charging cable into the battery back up device and then plug the other end into your phone or tablet so your device can recharge. I love it, I never have to worry about having a dead phone or iPod while away from home. From: Andrew J. Re: The Facebook app update
Hi, i'm running the latest facebook app with voiceover on iphone6+ and IOS8.1. The only problem i have with the new update is that it seems like the app does not open the external link like what it used to before the update, nor it gives any 'open with' option. Re: Looking for a keyboard for my iPhone 6 that has a toggle on off switch
I think one must first decide on the type of keyboard. Obviously everybody wants a QWERTY keyboard. The thing of it comes down to size. If you get a small keyboard, the typing keys are going to be close together and cramped. Of course if your a hunt and peck typist, this probably won't bother you much. On the other hand, if you know how to type with all ten fingers, then your probably want a keyboard that's going to let you type normally with all your fingers. There are keyboards out there which just provide the typing keys with out any of the F keys you would find on a windows keyboard. I don't want to control my iPhone or iPad totally. All I need my keyboard to do is to um, type! I prefer a keyboard case in which the iPhone or iPad fits in a holder on the top with the QWERTY keys underneith making the case like a mini laptop. This permits me to flick and tap etc. The case can fold down so that the iPad or iPhone is laying flat on the typing keys making a more solid platform when the typing keys aren't needed. These kinds of cases are becomming more and more popular for obvious reasons. Not that i myself use external keyboards at all, but if i were to get one, that’s what i would want to have. Not a very good design in my opinion. Also nice to have it be used on more than one device without paring it each time I want to change devices. HTH. I don't think all iBooks have DRM protection. I know I got Shelly Brisbin's iOS Access for All from iBooks and it was in standard epub format which plays quite nicely in Voice Dream Reader. Here's what I did to get it there: 1. Went to the folder Documents\iTunes\iTunes Media\Books on my Windows XP system and found the folder for Shelly Brisbin which was the next level down. 2. I then copied the single epub file containing her book to my Dropbox folder where I was able to open it in Voice Dream Reader by selecting the Add button on the VDR bottom-line menu. RE: anger battery bank
There are a lot of similar devices out there, one I have for travelling is a Belkin power bar which has a very short cable that plugs into a wall outlet and which wraps around the unit when not in use and you then get 3 regular outlets and 2 USB plugs on the powerbar. You can also get complete wall plates which replace your standard wall outlet and which give you your regular 2 outlets + 2 USB ports so theoretically when somebody builds a new house or if you want to upgrade your existing outlets you could put these outlets everywhere and you’d have USB power at every outlet in your house. Regards, Sieghard From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Alan J Paganelli Sent: Tuesday, March 03, 2015 8:57 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: anger battery bank I would like to point out something way cool.
I think Keyboards are a personal preference issue. I don’t mind carrying a larger keyboard around because my fingers are large and I find it hard to type on really small keys which a small keyboard would likely have. Now, there may be some foldable keyboards with normal keys, but I’m guessing even they wouldn’t fit in your pocket. But I am sure others know more about small keyboards than do I. HTH. The subject says it all. I have the apple Bluetooth keyboard with the end push button for on and off. Re: Looking for a keyboard for my iPhone 6 that has a toggle on off switch
Hi, I don’t know how many on this list remember the old Nokia days, there was a keyboard back then that Nokia themselves produced called the Su8W. It was foldable yet as i remember it quite big when folded out. When folded you could put it in a large pocket, that’s the kind of keyboard i’d be after if i got one. And of course since i live in Sweden i had to have the scandinavian keyboard layout. Wonder if the Verbatim one supports Scandinavian layouts? /Krister 3 mar 2015 kl. 15:36 skrev Neal Ewers neal.ew...@ravenswood.org: I think Keyboards are a personal preference issue. Accessible html editor
Hello All, I help out doing some minor html editing for a website, and I am looking for an accessible html editor for iOS. I have checked on AppleVis, but did not have any result. If anyone knows of an accessible html editor for iOS, please let me know. Thanks, Chris Chaffin Sent from my iPhone -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. RING TONES WITH 4S
Hi all, I have a strange problem where my chosen ring tone for my husband doesn't always work and I'm finding it difficult to understand the pattern and/or what I might do about it. It seems that when I have my bluetooth earpiece in, it doesn't always come up but plays the default ring tone. (My husband's ring tone is a tune, should this make any difference.) As an experiment, I left my bluetooth earpiece connected and then plugged in my usual wired headset to see what happened. I ended up with the chosen song in the wired headset but the default ring tone in the bluetooth earpiece. Can anyone explain what may be going on and if this is expected behaviour, please? Thanks.
