Unfortunately, you have to start the process by going to the site using

I just did a test when following the link to the Pat Price room and at the
top of the screen was a link to enter the room.
Then an option to open it in the tc conference app, which I double tapped
on.
When I got to the next screen, in the app, the room ID did include the rsc
and it had the IP address already filled in.

So this should work for you.
Enjoy,

Hi Everyone,

Recently I tried to attend one of the Accessible World Tech Talk programs

conference room I wanted, because I kept getting prompted for a room ID.
I had been told I didn't need a password, so I skipped that step, but I
couldn't get past that screen! Every time I pressed enter on if memory

Trying to sync books to BARD Mobile using Itunes 12

2015-10-18 Thread Nicki keck
HI all,

I thought I'd try this with some books I had downloaded. I am using Windows
10 and JAWS 17. I tab to BARD mobile and I click on that with my mouse
cursor, because there seems to be no other way to select it. Then, I choose
add file and choose the files I want. Itunes says it is copying these files
to my iPhone, but when I unplug it and go into BARD Mobile, the files are
not showing up in audio books under bookshelf. I got one of them to show
up, and don't ask me how. I've tried resetting the phone multiple times,
and I have closed the BARD Mobile app from the app switcher and gone back
in, but the files will not show up. If I choose BARD mobile again from the
apps, it shows me the bard mobile documents section with all the files I
have added, but they are not showing up at all in BARD mobile when I open it
and no doorbell sound. Any ideas? What could I be missing?

i could find nothing about the software that was a positive. i removed it

After i loaded the product I could not get the files to transfer. I
contacted the help desk on 5 different because they would suggest
something that didn't work After my 3rd email I asked for a phone
number,so I could talk with a human to solve the problem. They did not
provide me with a number. They told me in an email they had an update, they
were releasing the next day that would resolve the issue. It did not
resolve the issue. The help desk was extremely slow in responding. Since I
was getting a solution I decided to post to their Facebook page. They

they took my comment down because it wasn't accurate.

 Summary
The product didn't work and they didn't support the product to make it

I am going to try to contact the reviewer and find out what the other

RE: TC Conference App Question

2015-10-18 Thread Richard Turner
Here are two links for entering the Pat Price room and the BookNook room.
If you click on the link on your phone, it should open the app.
If not, the Room ID is the stuff following RSC in the below links. I have not
used it in a long time, I am not sure if you need the "rsc" before the
numbers/letters

Enter the Pat Price Tek talk Training Room at
http://conference321.com/masteradmin/room.asp?id=rsc9613dc89eb2

Enter the Book Nook Room at
http://conference321.com/masteradmin/room.asp?id=rs7867a2369e0e

If the room you were looking for wasn't one of those, look for the ID that
starts with RSC.

Richard

Hi Everyone,

Recently I tried to attend one of the Accessible World Tech Talk programs using

I didn't need a password, so I skipped that step, but I couldn't get past that

backing up apps to iTunes - was Re: iMazing for Windows

2015-10-18 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hello Ari,

that's exactly what I thought when I started this process, but it turned out
not to be the case. According to the tech support guy at Apple, an iTunes
backup is exactly like an iCloud backup, in that only the data is backed up,
not the apps. As near as I can tell, if you choose transfer Purchases, which I
always do before backing up, any new apps on your phone are copied to your
computer. Older apps are not copied, however. This is true even if the app
isn't in your iTunes library.

The app I was having trouble with was in my library at some point, but somehow
it got deleted from the Mobile Apps folder on my computer. When I realized
this, I deleted the entry for the app from my iTunes library and synced my old
phone with my computer, fully expecting the app to be copied from my phone to
my computer. It wasn't, and the tech support guy said that was to be expected.
Frustrating, but apparently that's the way it is.

Best,
Anna

Hi

My username is christopher916. I play all games but prefer not to play
Balut. My favourite is Farkle and am very good at that. Have beaten
opponents several times now.

RE: Blood pressure app

2015-10-18 Thread Rob
Notice the spelling of the Qardio app. It begins with Q and not C.

Do a search on Applevis.com for Qardio. My podcast is there as well as an app
review. The app review contains the link to the blood pressure measurement
device on Amazon. The app is free, but you have to buy the blood pressure
measurement device called QardioArm.

I had trouble getting the app to store my measurement results in the history.
I found that I had to leave a button called "switch" turned off. There is also
an item called "visitor mode" that the support team said I had to double tap.
VoiceOver does not tell me if that item is on or off. I have now gotten the
app set up to store my results in the history.

The support team says they plan to make VoiceOver enhancements in a future
update.

The app is free but it costs money when you use the app to request a

Are both the phones using the same Apple ID? If so, you should be able to sync

RE: since I updated

2015-10-18 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Michelle,

As for your non-TV Guide issues, I can tell you that the only way I was able to
get my 5 S running as smoothly as possible after first updating to iOS 9.0.2
via the Over-the-air method, was to restore the phone, setting it up as a new
device, then installing iOS 9.0.2 via iTunes.

As for TV Guide, it is still VoiceOver accessible, albeit in a somewhat
different way than before the latest series of updates.

The new TV Guide welcome screen is not yet VoiceOver accessible. You must get
to the end of the welcome/introduction tour in order to enter the main app.
You may do this in two ways: (1) Turn off VoiceOver and then swipe from right
to left, several times, about 6 should do it. Then, turn VoiceOver back on.
Now, using VoiceOver, you will discover a finish button located near the bottom
of the screen. Activate this button and you will be taken into the main
application. (2) With VoiceOver enabled, you can single-finger, double-tap,
hold and swipe from right to left, several times until you land on the screen
that contains the finish button.

Subject: since I updated

Hello everyone,
I have been having some problems since I updated to iOs 9 and above. Can you
tell me if these are common bugs or not? I am using a 5S

When I am on the phone if I move the slightest bit my phone goes to speaker.
This is highly annoying when I am trying to talk on a business call and I keep
breaking up because the phone goes to speaker.

My dictation is much less accurate. I often dictate my text messages and I find
that the dictation is not as accurate as it was before.

I also use the TV guide app and since the update I have not been able to get it
to work. I get a screen that says welcoe to TV guide and that’s all I get.

Any help with these issues would be much appreciated thanks.

unable to update software

2015-10-18 Thread Jed Barton

Hey guys,
OK, this is a bit of a concerning problem. I've been trying to update
to the latest update. I'm getting an error, that's saying, update failed
varification cause you are no longer connected to the internet. I'm
right next to my router, and have a perfect wifi signal. I've tried it
both at work and at home, same results. Any ideas?

RE: an audio tutorial on blindfold bowling

2015-10-18 Thread Paul Hunt
Hello John and all. Yes, here's how the two finger mode works. You place your
thumb where you want to stand on the alley. Then you move your index finger
around the alley to where you want it to be. While holding that position you
wait for a series of tones. Once you get it you lift your index finger. It's
more challenging than the one finger bowl. I actually bowled a perfect game
with the single finger mode and will be able to do it with the two finger aim
and throw mode. I'm using the large ball large pin mode. If you change to small
ball small pin mode, the game gets much more challenging. John, where do you
live? I'm living in Austin texas.

Hi Paul and all! Yes, setting pins at MSB sure helped in knowing the layout!
GRIN!

Rose, did you bowl here in the Valley? That is the one thing I miss since
moving out here from Michigan, but I live Way out here in Apache Junction, so
transportation is always an issue.

I bowled four games against the computer this morning and won 2 out of 4.
I like the fact that you get different aponents with different skill levels,
but even the poorer bowlers always seem to pick up there spares!
GRIN! This morning I was using the one finger simple mode, as I need to work
on the aiming mode a bit. Can anyone explain the 2 finger mode? I haven't
been able to figure that one out at all. It will be nice if they eventually
include the capability to play against others on line!

Have a good one:
John

Can you email them all at once from within that folder? Once you do this,
what is the best way to add them to itunes.

Do you mean, where can you find the ringtones ones they've been saved to
your phone via the save button in the ringtones screen? There's a menu
button in the top left-hand corner of the phone. Double-tap this, and in the
screen that pops up, you'll find something that says saved ringtones.
Double-tap that, and you'll be in the list of ringtones that you selected to
save. You'll have to email them to yourself one by one, and download them
from your email one by one, but you won't need any sighted help to do this.

Thanks,
Ari

Or you could just email them e yourself. You'd have to download them one
by one, of course, and then at them to iTunes, but you wouldn't need any
cited assistance to do this.

Document hi Jen,

Your ringtones will be saved in your saved ringtones folder. If you click
on the menu button in the upper left-hand corner of your iPhone, you'll
see a whole bunch of menu options including ringtones wallpapers
notifications one of the options under this menu is saved ringtones
that's where your ringtones go. They will not play in this menu. Do you
get them on your phone, you have to look at the help option which is in
the menu. It will tell you underneath the category how to download a
ringtone, or downloading stuff, to go to a website where you will install
software on your computer that will sync your ringtones from zedge to
iTunes. You have to install the software, then select the scan QR code
option from the menu. Then you have to get a sighted person to help you
scan the code. I'm visually impaired and can't do it. After that, your
computer will hopefully recognize dead. After that you just sync your
iPhone and your new ringtones will be. Where normal Ringtones go in
sounds.

I hope this helps.

Hi Jen,

Have you tried going to settings in the zedge app, and tapping
autopreview ringtones? It will not select like a normal button, but tap
it and wait for it to say on. It will be a little bit delayed. That's
how I got mine to play.

Re: iMazing for Windows

2015-10-18 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

I tried to use the Mac version of this app. I had an app on my old iPhone that
is no longer in the app store and isn't on my computer, and I was hoping to be
able to use iMazing to copy it from the old phone to my computer and then
transfer it to my new phone. I was unable to do it, but I got a response within
about 12 hours from someone who tried to help. I responded, and he responded
back within just a few hours. It turns out that due to an Apple policy, I can't
get the app onto my new phone, but at least their tech support was fast and
responsive. I will probably uninstall the app because I don't think it will do
more for me than iTunes can, but I wanted to let people know the company does
seem to be improving their tech support.

Best,
Anna

since I updated

2015-10-18 Thread Michelle
Hello everyone,

I have been having some problems since I updated to iOs 9 and above. Can you
tell me if these are common bugs or not? I am using a 5S

When I am on the phone if I move the slightest bit my phone goes to speaker.
This is highly annoying when I am trying to talk on a business call and I
keep breaking up because the phone goes to speaker.

My dictation is much less accurate. I often dictate my text messages and I
find that the dictation is not as accurate as it was before.

I also use the TV guide app and since the update I have not been able to get
it to work. I get a screen that says welcoe to TV guide and that's all I
get.

Any help with these issues would be much appreciated thanks.

Battery Packs?

2015-10-18 Thread SSEric
I have an Anker 6,000MA battery to recharge my phone, Touch, etc. This is
only the second such device I have used. I don't know if my questions only
apply to Anker.

When I hook up a device to the battery it does not start charging. I have to
press the power level button to get it started. Thus far, I have only used
the higher powered plug. I was told it will charge a phone much faster. It
does seem to charge pretty fast, but the charge only lasts an hour or so of
use. Today I used the NFB Newsline app to read a paper, as I do every
morning. Normally this would run my battery from 100% to no less than 90%.
Today my battery went from 100% till it shut down because of the battery
being under 10%.

I don't have the battery model at hand, and I forget the two power level
options; I assume those are standard to chargers.

Thanks for any education on how these things work.

Eric

Just my opinion, but, I wish they would get rid of that screen or put it in
English for phones that use that language. I realize it really makes no

be sure it is on English before tapping anyway, but all those languages and the
possibility that someday it may not revert back for me is daunting.

Hi Don,

No, even if you double tap when another language is displayed, the setup will
continue in English. I assume the phone already knows that it is in North
America.
There really isn't that much to tab on and even in many other languages other
than the Asian ones or maybe Russian etc. you sort of get the idea of what it
means.

If you doubl tap on someing in another language then won't the setup proceed in

RE: an audio tutorial on blindfold bowling

2015-10-18 Thread Rose Combs
I did but that was in 1990 and before, the league met at 300 Bowl in West
phoenix, but is now dissolved as far as I know. Since I got tendinitis in my
right wrist, and typing was my living, I have not checked it out.

We did bowl for 27 years or so but, from Scottsdale, it meant that between
buses and league time to start etc. it took up the whole day and in the end
after that many years, we decided the cost and time were just too much. I was
also doing part-time work for a doctor's office as well as my full-time job at
that time.

Cribbage

2015-10-18 Thread Lynette Frison
Hey all,
That is an encouraging response from the Cribbage Pro developer. I know they
have been very open to suggestions in the past. I don't know if any of you play
the multi-player online game, but it seems to function a bit differently than
the game against the computer, or phone I guess. At least when I play against
my phone, it announces the count, and if I or my opponent score 15 for 2, last
card, etc, it will announce that. None of that is announced in the multi-player
game which was my main concern. Perhaps I didn't make this clear enough to the
developer. I will write them another note.

iMazing for Windows

2015-10-18 Thread Richard Turner
OK, my last comment on this application. I found a review on cNet from a
user from July of this year.

 | Version: iMazing 1.2.1

Pros

i could find nothing about the software that was a positive. i removed it
and bought another solution

Cons

After i loaded the product I could not get the files to transfer. I
contacted the help desk on 5 different because they would suggest something
that didn't work After my 3rd email I asked for a phone number,so I could
talk with a human to solve the problem. They did not provide me with a
number. They told me in an email they had an update, they were releasing the
next day that would resolve the issue. It did not resolve the issue. The
help desk was extremely slow in responding. Since I was getting a solution I
decided to post to their Facebook page. They responded then, they did refund
the cost of the software. They told me they took my comment down because it
wasn't accurate.

Summary

The product didn't work and they didn't support the product to make it work.
Their support was weak at best. My feedback this is not a solution keep
looking.Their service and product are pathetic

I am going to try to contact the reviewer and find out what the other
solution was they bought.

Richard

It is supposed to be an alternative for syncing files to and from your
iDevice.
If iTunes is working fine for you, you don't want to pay for an application
you don't need.
On the Windows side, it is awful to try and use with a screen reader, so I'd
recommend sticking with iTunes and keep giving Apple feedback for places it
can be improved or fixed.

I spent time with the trial version and it isn't worth the hassle in my
opinion.

Hello Everyone,

As I have posted, on-list, since updating to iOS 9.0.2, I have not been
able to either add or remove any media from my iPhone 5 S,

be it audio books, ring tones, music, etc.

After extensive research, I discovered that many of those using iTunes
for Windows and even some using OS X, were experiencing the
same problem. As would be expected, there were suggestions as to how to
resolve this problem.

I tried all of them and none worked, for me.

Finally, yesterday, I decided to call the Apple accessibility support
number.

As it is not my intention to write a novel here, I will just provide the
sum and substance of my call. By the way, I want you to
know that the tech was very gracious and professional. As I had
dedicated an entire afternoon to resolving this problem, I, too,

was very patient and polite.

1.
I asked the rep if he was familiar or had any recent experience using
iTunes for Windows. He said yes.

2.
He told me that he had heard of no problems with syncing between the 5 S
running 9.0.2 and that he was personally using Windows with

a 5 S with no
problem during our call.

3.
Because I have yet to hear an Apple support specialist admit that there
may be a bug in anything, (just my experience, mind you), I
had prepared a URL to give to the tech to prove that this problem has
been reported to Apple since as early as the first release of
iOS 9.0. I will admit that it gave me a lot of satisfaction when he
returned to the line, after visiting the site containing the
reports, minus his, if not arrogance, then his conviction that mine was
an isolated issue.

4.
After spending a lot of time on the phone with no success, he
inadvertently admitted that he was using a Mac to help me
troubleshoot. This came up because we were searching for some

Subject: A Question About Games for iPhone

There has been quite a discussion about accessible games for iOS, on-list.

There used to be a game called Aurify that was, in my opinion, the best
audio game ever developed for iOS. The game stopped working and stopped
being supported many years ago.

To those of you who may remember it, is there anything like it now?

The most regretful thing about my experience with Aurify is that if I had
not updated my 3GS to iOS 4.0, I would still be enjoying it, today. As it
turned out, I did update to iOS 4.0 and by the time I realized the
incompatibility problem, it was too late to return to iOS 3.1.3. I still
have my 3GS and it continues to work just fine, even after all these years,
a testament to Steve Jobbs and Apple, no doubt.

Also, aside from chess, does anyone know of any VoiceOver accessible or
self-voicing board games for iOS such as monopoly?

Personally, I am not a fan of narrative games or games of violence so am
looking for a fun, happy, game that is easy to play.

Thank you,

Mark

Dropbox or OneDrive both should do more or less what you want, only thing is
that the files the app on your iOS device sees are synced to the cloud. Of
course they are also in their respective folders inside Dropbox or OneDrive
on the computer, but the app will see the cloud version. There are other
file manager apps, but they basically work the same way. Some may actually
see the files on your computer, I believe one such is "Tonido" but I am not
sure if I spell this correctly. There was a lot of talk about that app about
a year ago.

Speaking of third-party apps, do you know of a app I can run on my ios
device that will do some thing like the following?

I connect the ios device to my computer.
Then I run a app on the ios device I would call open in.
Then you could use this app to browse the files on your computer such as: a
file called The Case of the Counterfeit Eye.zip. Doubletap and hold on the
file and get a menu like:

dismiss pop up

AirDrop Button
Mail Button
Open in Voice Dream Button
Open in BARD Mobile Button

Hello Richard, the third-party app he recommended was iMazing. He said that
there is both a Mac and a Windows version.

A sighted friend of mine uses iMazing on the Mac and swears by it.

Subject: A Very Surprising Suggestion by an Apple Accessibility Technical
Support Representative

Hello Everyone,

As I have posted, on-list, since updating to iOS 9.0.2, I have not been able
to either add or remove any media from my iPhone 5 S, be it audio books,
ring tones, music, etc.

After extensive research, I discovered that many of those using iTunes for
Windows and even some using OS X, were experiencing the same problem. As
would be expected, there were suggestions as to how to resolve this problem.
I tried all of them and none worked, for me.

Finally, yesterday, I decided to call the Apple accessibility support
number.

As it is not my intention to write a novel here, I will just provide the sum
and substance of my call. By the way, I want you to know that the tech was
very gracious and professional. As I had dedicated an entire afternoon to
resolving this problem, I, too, was very patient and polite.

1.
I asked the rep if he was familiar or had any recent experience using iTunes
for Windows. He said yes.

2.
He told me that he had heard of no problems with syncing between the 5 S
running 9.0.2 and that he was personally using Windows with a 5 S with no
problem during our call.

3.
Because I have yet to hear an Apple support specialist admit that there may
be a bug in anything, (just my experience, mind you), I had prepared a URL
to give to the tech to prove that this problem has been reported to Apple
since as early as the first release of iOS 9.0. I will admit that it gave
me a lot of satisfaction when he returned to the line, after visiting the
site containing the reports, minus his, if not arrogance, then his
conviction that mine was an isolated issue.

4.
After spending a lot of time on the phone with no success, he inadvertently
admitted that he was using a Mac to help me troubleshoot. This came up
because we were searching for some system files that clearly do not exist on
a Windows PC. When I called him out on this, he admitted that he was not
using a Windows PC during our call.

The Surprise:
5.
He suggested that I use a third-party application, instead of iTunes, to
sync my iOS devices.

I was really stunned at his suggestion, to say the least.

He was unable to resolve my prob

However, is there still no way to drag an app using that gesture? It would

Re: dice world username

2015-10-18 Thread MamaPeach

How To Play Yatzy
Object of the game
The object of Yahtzee is to obtain the highest score from throwing 5 dice.
The game consists of 13 rounds. In each round, you roll the dice and then
score the roll in one of 13 categories. You must score once in each
category.

The score is determined by a different rule for each category.
The game ends once all 13 categories have been scored.
Game Start
To start with, roll all the dice. After rolling you can either score the
current roll (see below), or re-roll any or all of the dice.
You may only roll the dice a total of 3 times. After rolling 3 times you
must choose a category to score.
You may score the dice at any point in the round, i.e. it doesn't have to be
after the 3rd roll.

Scoring
To score your combination of 5 dice, you click one of the 13 boxes. There
are two sections to the score table

- the Upper Section and the Lower Section.
Once a box has been scored, it cannot be scored again for the rest of the
game (except the Yahtzee category), so choose wisely.

Upper Section Scoring
If you score in the upper section of the table, your score is the total of
the specified die face.

So if you roll:
5 - 2 - 5 - 6 - 5 and score in the Fives category, your total for the
category would be 15, because there are three fives, which are added
together.
If the One, Three or Four Categories were selected for scoring with this
roll, you would score a zero because you did not roll a 1, a 3 or a 4.

If placed in the Two or Six category, you would score 2 and 6 respectively.
Bonus If the total of Upper scores is 63 or more, add a bonus of 35. Note
that 63 is the total of three each of 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s and 6s.

Lower Section Scoring
In the lower scores, you score either a set amount, or zero if you don't
satisfy the category requirements.
3 and 4 of a kind For 3 of a kind you must have at least 3 of the same die
faces. You score the total of all the dice. For 4 of a kind you would need 4
die faces the same.
Small and Large Straight A Straight is a sequence of consecutive die faces,
where a small straight is 4 consecutive faces, and a large straight 5
consecutive faces.

Small straights score 30 and a large 40 points.
So if you rolled:
2 - 3 - 2 - 5 - 4
you could score 30 in small straight because you have 2, 3, 4 and a 5 which
makes up a small straight. You would need either a 1 or a 6 to score this in
large straight.
Full House A Full House is where you have 3 of a kind and 2 of a kind. Full
houses score 25 points.

i.e.:
3 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 2
would score 25 in the Full House category.
First Yahtzee A Yahtzee is 5 of a kind and scores 50 points, although you
may elect NOT to score it as a yahtzee, instead choosing to take it as a top
row score and safe guard your bonus.
As you may noticed, even though Yahtzee is based on 5 dice the rules are
similar to other 5 card based games like poker.
Additional Yahtzees. If you roll a second Yahtzee in a game, and you scored
your first yahtzee in the Yahtzee box, you would score a further bonus 100
points in the yahtzee box. You must also put this roll into another
category, as follows;
-If the corresponding Upper section category is not filled then you must
score there.
ie if you rolled 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 and the Fours Category is not filled, you
must put the score in the Fours category.
-If the corresponding Upper section category is filled you may then put the
score anywhere on the Upper Section (scoring zero). In 3 of a Kind, 4 of a
Kind, and Chance categories you would score the total of the die faces. For
the Small Straight, Large Straight, and Full House categories, you would
score

30, 40 and 25 points respectively.
Chance You can roll anything and be able to put it in the Chance category.
You score the total of the die faces.

Scratch or Dump scores.

You can score any roll in any category at any time, even if the resulting
score is zero. E.G, you can take 2-3-3-4-6 in the 5's category. It will
score 0. This could be used near the end of a game to lose a poor roll
against a difficult-to-get category that you've failed to fill (eg, long
straight or yahtzee).
Hope this explains the game to where you can start playing, it is a fun
game!

Try practicing with a bot to get the hang of playing.

Re: Restoring iTunes music purchases

2015-10-18 Thread Harry Bell
I too use iTunes Match on my Mac mini and iPhone 5S. I have noticed no way to
view my purchased items within Itunes match. You could open Itunes on the Mac,
go to iTunes -- preferences and untick use icloud library. You would then see
what music is physically in your Mac and ensure your purchases are there. Then
go back to iTunes - preferences and turn use icloud music library back on and
sync will resume. Harry

Re: Restoring iTunes music purchases

2015-10-18 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

How about if you open itunes store app, and activate the last tab on the right
at the bottom of the screen which says "Purchased". You should then see all
your purchases on the screen. on my macbook pro, I was able to redownload all
my iphone apps which were not showing after I had to clean install El Capitan.
I hope this might work for you on your device.

Best wishes

Andrew
