RE: Hearing aids locking up when streaming media or telephone

2019-03-15 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi All,
Here is what I figured out today on my Resound aid. First of all aids when
connecting to media, VO and telephone use Apples Hearing software MFI. So here
is what happens. When I have my iPhone set for phone calls to come into my aids
that part works well. But when I end the call my aids drop back to the aids.
But when I make any gestures on the iPhone VO is still connecting to my aids
even though I have that turned off. The only way to get VO not to go into my
aids or stop if from doing that I have to go into the control panel and set it
back to the iPhone instead of the hearing aids. Normally what is suppose to
happen is when I am done with a call everything is suppose to go back to the
iPhone but VO does not. This is a known issues with VO users. People who do not
use VO do not have this issue. The Resound tech told me Apple has to make a
change for this to be corrected. So if you have VO going into your aids all the
time you will not have a problem. The issue is I don't want VO to go to my aids
after the call has ended. I want it to come out the iPhone speaker and this is
what is not working correctly. I have to manually go in and change this every
time after a phone call.
I hope this makes some sense to all of you hearing aid users.
Mr. Ed

Hi Carolyn:

I think you should put up a fight. They didn't tell you ahead of time that
they would not be compatible with your iPhone and voice over.

That is a lot of money for something that doesn't do what you were
expecting.

That was the great thing about Costco. You have six months to return them

RE: Issue with the Capital One Mobile app

2019-03-15 Thread M. Taylor
This is a fabulous point, Yolanda.

Wow! I never would have thought of that.

Yes, it is oh so important to use standard screen size settings when first
testing out a feature.

An excellent point, indeed.

I have an iPhone 10S and I can see the branch atm button. Are you using zoom

Retrieving my iCloud mail user name and password

2019-03-15 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everyone,

I have an iCloud email account I rarely use.

However, I would like to start to make more use of it. So I want to add
the account in to the mail App on my phone.

Unfortunately though, I can not figure out how to possibly reset the
password. I believe I remember my user name. Though it is different from
my Apple ID.

I just can't seem to figure out how to get the information I need. Or
how to go about resetting this password. I don't want to reset my Apple
ID password.

Can anyone possibly help me?

Thank you,

Terri

I do have 30 days. I might ask him about an alternative.

My cousin has Resound that she got from Hearing Aid Express. She has had hers
for eight years, realizes that probably her hearing loss is not as much as
mine, but she is really happy with them.

The audiologist talked to the Oticon engineer, and I have the impression that
when he got to blind, that did it. The engineer said it would not be compatible
with VoiceOver. It does work, but there is an echo for my calling party. I can

Hi Carolyn:

Mine are Rexton brand from Costco. I have never had any problem with VO.
The only problem I have is when I am using a blue tooth keyboard to type a text
and it is sitting close to my iPhone. Then there is a lot of static in the
aids. Other than that, they work perfectly for everything else...phone calls,
TV wireless, etc..

What do they plan to do to resolve your problem?

I agree Richard, this is a great product even in Beta. I would certainly think
it should be more than the $5.00. I think the author have to have enough

it already blows Seeing AI away with the fact that you can do multipage
documents in a batch and save as one file with formatting in tact. And it is
all done right on the phone!

This is also where it blows KNFB Reader away to because still, for $99.99, they
cannot retain formatting.

I'd gladly pay quite a bit more for an app this easy to use and especially with
the integration with Voice Dream Reader.

But, please, try it out and give him the feedback you have on anything and
everything about the app.

RE: Issue with the Capital One Mobile app

2019-03-15 Thread Cristobal Muñoz
An update… So as I suspected, even with activating my debit card, no go. Still
no option to locate a nearby branch/ATM.

After that Creditwise button at the bottom of the screen, it’s still then the
home and profile tabs.

Anyway, thought I’d give a quick follow up.

I’ll probably be reaching out to Capital One again over the weekend outlining
the same.

I believe you, but again, I as well as others aren’t getting this on our
screens.

After the Creditwise button swiping past it lands on the home and then profile
tab.

I get the same behavior on my SE where I also downloaded the Capital One app to
make sure it wasn’t some funky thing with my XR.

The only other thing I can think of is that since I barely opened the account
and have yet to receive the debit card, maybe once I activate it then the
branch/ATM locator option will pop up. I’m not holding my breath though since
again, others have also mentioned that they’re not getting this locator tool on
their screen either. The Capital One rep didn’t make any mention that this had
to be a requirement for that option to appear either.

Once I get and activate the card, I’ll follow up in case there was any change.

Yes, I have the latest version.

Launch Capitalone iPhone app.

On the main account screen, a list of all accounts will appear. Perform a 1
finger swipe across to the last account. Then, swipe 1 finger to the right
again. You hear credit wize button. Swipe one more time, you hear branch/atm
button.

If you don’t hear these, delete and redownload the app.

You could also try changing the typing style to direct touch typing,
which means you put a finger where you think the letter is and raise
to type. It is a little faster than touch typing, and I think is meant
to be more of a muscle memory thing. This is within the voiceover

Here is the latest info from Testflight which you have to have installed
in order to use the betas but it is free in the app store.
I've tested the app quite a bit in the two days I've known about it and
it blows everything else out of the water.
There is one very annoying thing in beta 3 that I've asked him to
disable, but if Edge Detection is on, there is a constant tone playing that is
truly annoying.
It doesn't say below, but you can use the up volume button to capture the
image.
Saving as PDF is not only fully accessible, but it retains any images in
the document.
At this point, unless I can convince him to charge more, he is thinking
of charging $5.00 for the app.
I think it is worth much more.
Here is the info from TestFlight.

  From Testflight

  Here's the high level stuff:

  - State-of-the-art A.I. for OCR and text recognition: Fast and accurate,
even in poor lighting conditions. Works entirely on device: No need for
internet and your data stays private.

  - Export scans as plain text or PDF with embedded text to another app, or
save them on your local device, iCloud, Dropbox, or Google Drive.

  - Works with Voice Dream Reader. You need to download the latest beta
version of Voice Dream Reader, version 4.8.0. If you haven't signed up for
beta, you can do it here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/5amQM57U. After
downloading the latest Reader Beta, you will be able access the scanner
directly from Reader and add scanned documents to your Reader library.

  Additional Features:

  - Automatic detection of document edges for stretching and cropping

  - Automatic detection of document orientation

  - Automatic image enhancement

  - Batch mode for scanning multiple pages quickly

  - Spoken words are highlighted in the text or the image

  - Select text-to-speech voice and change speed

  - Uses premium voices purchased in Voice Dream Reader

  Beta 3:

  - Auto Scan (if an page is detected and phone is held steady for 2
seconds)

  - Audible tone for page detection. VoiceOver only. Should there be a way
to disable this?

  - Capture Button is now the entire video preview window

  - No longer read content again after enhancing image

  - Minor bug fixes

  Beta 2:

  - Improved orientation detection

  - Added option to automatic read text after capture

  - Fix crashes

  Beta 1:

This new app let you scan paper documents with the camera and recognize
text, listen using built-in text-to-speech, and save and export.

Limitations: Only languages using Latin alphabets are supported. For
example, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Russian, and Arabic are not supported.

As with all Voice Dream beta tests, we're interested in every kind of
feedback: nothing is too small or too insignificant. We want nothing less than
perfection.

For $100 Mexican I’d definitely grab it! So it’ll be like an AddOn or module

2019-03-15 Thread Kay Malmquist
Apparently there is a problem between the Transforming Braille group and the
manufacturer and as I was told by someone at APH yesterday, they don't think
they will be selling the Orbit reader any time soon, if at all. That is all
I was told. I think someone needs to come out and let everybody know what
is actually going on.

That's surprising, because I know they had one at the NFB national
convention last year, and I looked it over.

I'm interested in one, just need to work on financing, as my funds are
tight.

One of my fellow local chapter members has one that I looked at again
recently. I am impressed by the crispness of the display, the fact the
cells can be easily felt, a factor for me in attempting to read Braille.

It could double as my Bluetooth keyboard.

Subject: Test Drive an Orbits Reader Display Anyone? I Don't think so

Hello Everyone,

Today, I went to the exhibit hall at the 2019 CSUN Assistive Technology
Conference here in southern California.

Among other goals, I was interested in test driving a few Braille displays
for use with my iOS devices.

Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the A.P.H. booth and discovered that
they had no Orbit Reader 20s on hand for visitors to explore. While I was
there, 2 other people walked up and asked about the Orbit Reader 20 and were
equally disappointed at the lack of a demo model.

I did, however, get a look at an entire host of other BRaile displays, from
other companies, including the latest version of the Focus 40. Now, that,
is a beautiful device.

Regardless, I was sorely disappointed at not having an opportunity to test
drive the Orbit Reader 20 Braille display.

And the beat goes on,

Mark

RE: Test Drive an Orbits Reader Display Anyone? I Don't think so

2019-03-15 Thread Bill Outman
That's surprising, because I know they had one at the NFB national convention
last year, and I looked it over.

I'm interested in one, just need to work on financing, as my funds are tight.

One of my fellow local chapter members has one that I looked at again recently.
I am impressed by the crispness of the display, the fact the cells can be
easily felt, a factor for me in attempting to read Braille.

It could double as my Bluetooth keyboard.

Subject: Test Drive an Orbits Reader Display Anyone? I Don't think so

Hello Everyone,

Today, I went to the exhibit hall at the 2019 CSUN Assistive Technology
Conference here in southern California.

Among other goals, I was interested in test driving a few Braille displays for
use with my iOS devices.

Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the A.P.H. booth and discovered that they
had no Orbit Reader 20s on hand for visitors to explore. While I was there, 2
other people walked up and asked about the Orbit Reader 20 and were equally
disappointed at the lack of a demo model.

I did, however, get a look at an entire host of other BRaile displays, from
other companies, including the latest version of the Focus 40. Now, that, is a
beautiful device.

Regardless, I was sorely disappointed at not having an opportunity to test
drive the Orbit Reader 20 Braille display.

And the beat goes on,

Mark

Hello, I am looking for a podcast that describes some of the uses of Hokusai.
I found a link from a few years ago but the link is broken.
Does anyone know of a Hokusai podcast or possibly have the file from a few
years ago that they can send me.
Have the best of days,
Tim
