RE: wireless charging pads

2020-08-27 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Yeah I use both a wifi charging pad and normal chargr,

I have a wifi charging pad that does 3 in one,
So my watch, headphones and phone,

Can't remember what brand it is but it's a 15Watt and has a puc for the
watch, a hollow section to lay the airpods in and the phones pad,

It uses a USB-C cable from the ac plug,

And then I have a wired power adapter as well because I have 2 devices and
this lets me charge both at one time if need be.

Hi do any of your out hear use any of the wireless charging pads with your

Or do you just use the regular chargers?

And if you don't use the wireless charging pads why do you choose not to use

I am asking because my phone can charge like that and was thinking about

Re: Syncing Music from iTunes Library to iPhone

2020-08-27 Thread Richard Turner
I just sync everything.
I agree the way you get dumped back to the top when trying to select only
certain things isidiotic.
Some people say that Waltr2 is easier to use to sync music to your iPhone. I
think it around $40, but I think everyone should be writing Apple and
complaining about the problem when you would want to only sync a portion of
your library.

Re: Question About the Newer Phones

2020-08-27 Thread Richard Turner
If she is using a phone without a home button, and writing text messages, she
may want to remove the extra apps from showing up at thebottom of the text
message.
To the left of the area where you write your text message is a button labeled
Apps Visible. Double tap that, and it will change to Apps invisible and the
extra apps at the bottom which she is probably activating by mistake will be
gone.

When taking a picture, you can use either of the volume buttons as shutter
buttons. Press it and the camera will take a picture. Much better than trying
to tap on the take picture button on the screen.

Tap to wake is designed to wake the phone up if you tap the screen, which may

If you don't have Raise to Wake on, it can be very useful when trying to unlock

If you have a newer phone without a Home button, then tap to wake will wake the
screen each time you touch it, which can be annoying especially if the phone is
in your pocket. Not sure if it is on older phones like the 7 or 8. I suppose
some may want to see their notifications by touching their phone screen but I
don't need that, and it can drain the battery with constant triggers.

Syncing Music from iTunes Library to iPhone

2020-08-27 Thread K. Scott Carlson
iPhone 7 with iOS 13.6, Windows 10 with NVDA. I am wondering if there is an
easy way to sync songs from my iTunes library on to my iPhone. I say "easy way"
because: 1) I can't search through my list of albums, and (2) checking an album
returns me immediately to the top of the list. I have thousands of albums, so
this is a big problem.

I do not currently have Apple Music so my library is not in the cloud.

I’ve never heard of the tap to wake feature before.
What is it and what does it do? I have the iphone11

Hello all,
I forwarded an Email conversation to Apple about the voice changing silliness
after a client was getting the royal run-around from Apple.
Here is there predictable and reasonable response. Please, if you are
experiencing this, keep contacting them and if you happen to be using a beta,
report it through the feedback app.

RE: Question About the Newer Phones

2020-08-27 Thread Richard Turner
Newer phones with no home button have both Raise to Wake under Display and
Brightness settings, and Tap To Wake under Accessibility Touch settings.
Raise to wake works the same as it always has, if you move the phone, it wakes
up. Not a good thing to have on if you carry the phone in a purse or pocket
where it will be in motion. Waste of battery in my view.

Tap to wake is designed to wake the phone up if you tap the screen, which may
or may not be a handy setting.
If you don't have Raise to Wake on, it can be very useful when trying to unlock
the phone and use Face ID.

way to change the sensitivity of the phone? Any suggestions would be
 appreciated.

Is tap to wake the same as raise to wake? I am a little confused on the

Re: Mac OCR and Scanners

2020-08-27 Thread Priscilla Garces (prisci)
Hi Steve,
Hope you’re doing well.
I use a Mac and have this software from cerotech called Docuscan+. You can
download it on the cerotech website.
It works for a Mac and scanners.
I have a portable scanner I used to use when at school. It is a cannon scanner
which is also compatible with neat desk software according to the time I last
checked on the original box. From what I can remember it is compatible with the
Mac, and it works well for my needs because I can use any scanner with it.
For more info, go to http://www.serotek.com/docuscanplus

Keep in mind you have to have a login username and pin to access it. They have
free trials for new users if the student doesn’t have an account with cerotech.
I had this for years since I started college back in 2005 because it was part
of the technology used for education.
You can ask student support services at the school if they have an activated
license for docuscan+ which is about $299 for a copy. Also, blindness-oriented
organizations like the commission for the blind in the student’s local state or
county, the national Federation for the Blind, and others can help with
purchase of the software.
If you have any further questions, pleas feel free to reply.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Best,
Priscilla

and it goes all over the place. She has turned off raise to wake. She says when

believes it is too sensitive, especially when texting or taking pictures. Is
there a way to change the sensitivity of the phone? Any suggestions would be

Hello List:
I need to take a PDF document and sign it and send it back to my rehab

allow me to add a signature to a PDF file? I have used the export PDF document
program before but I don’t know if there might not be a cheaper way of doing
things since it’s $23 a year.
So any help would be very much appreciated thank you so much.

Re: Mac OCR and Scanners

2020-08-27 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Steve,
If your student is only working in English, then Prizmo is a good option. But
for anyone using more than one language, FineReader Pro is really good. It can
recognise up to 3 languages in one document. It’s what I use since I never know
whether a document is going to be in English or French.
Cheers,

Anne

Re: Counting exercise minutes on the watch ring

2020-08-27 Thread Anna Dresner
I've had that happen when whatever I was doing for exercise didn't get my heart
rate up. Some workouts, like yoga, count the whole thing as exercise regardless
of heart rate. Others only count parts where your heart rate is above a certain
level.

In the main iPhone settings, go to Writer, and you will find you have a choice
between, iCloud, OneDrive, and iPhone for the storage.
I assume OneDrive might only show up if you have it installed, not sure.

RE: Question about apps for the iPhone

2020-08-27 Thread Richard Turner
I will add that no app on the iPhone can accurately detect color.
The same item in different lighting situations can vary widely in what color an
app thinks it is.
If you really need to identify the color of an object, use Be My Eyes, or
facetime with a sighted friend.

Re: What's app web vs. What's App Mobile App

2020-08-27 Thread Nicki Keck
I WhatsApp for windows was OK, but the phone does work a lot better. My biggest
problem with WhatsApp for windows is that it seems like every time I launch it
it wants me to scan my phone and take a picture rather and scan the PC for a
barcode so that it will allow me to continue. I personally am not good at this
and was not able to get it to see the barcode on my laptop screen. I would have
to call my husband each time to do it for me. My husband is as blind as I am,
but I think because he previously had site, he is better at aiming the camera
than I am and he got The picture within five seconds. However, I just don’t
want to have to keep calling him to help me every time I want to use ‎WhatsApp
for windows.

Hi
No, in my experience the windows version does not work that well, the phone app
is way more accessible than the windows app, unless this has changed in the
last few months. At this stage for the windows version to work, you have to
have an account on your phone any way, so one might as well use the phone.
This will change when whatsapp roll out multi device support in the future.

Subject: What's app web vs. What's App Mobile App

Hi All,
Hope you are doing well.
I have a couple questions about What’s app web vs. the What’s app Mobile app.
How accessible is the what’s app web client? Has anyone ever used what’s app
web? If so, what has been your experience?
Is it less accessible than the mobile app?
I only use the mobile app, and it is very accessible for me. But I wanted to
use what’s app web to see if it’s just as accessible with VoiceOver as it is in
the mobile app. Does anyone use the mobile app as well? If so which do you all
prefer, what’s app web and/or what’s app mobile?
Please reach out via reply at garcesp...@gmail.com

Thank you and have a nice day.
Best,

Priscilla

You have several options, but a few that come to mind are:

* Seeing AI from Microsoft will do everything you ask for. It’s link on
