RE: changes in drop box

2021-08-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
And lastly, if you are only using Dropbox for free then usage is limited to 3
devices. Even if you don't have 3 devices there is a chance old devices are
still listed on your account, you have to log in t Dropbox online and find this
so you can see if any devices are listed you don't use or even own any more. If
so you can delete them.

Hi,

The other question I had is whether you have enough room in your Dropbox for
editing? When I had very limited storage, I could not sync all of my files.

Hi Duane and all,

I had a similar issue recently. It turned out the volume on Siri had gotten
turned down by accident. after you press the home button to invoke Siri, turn
up the volume. If your situation is like mine, you'll hear the beeps and then
siri's responses. I hope it works.

Re: Uber eats

2021-08-01 Thread Kathy Brandt
I think I have done OK with Uber eats promotions and entering the code. I make
the most of ordering out because of buying enough stuff to eat off of during
the week in combination or with other things I already have, so hi end up
having enough to qualify for a promotion.

I had a little trouble finding where to enter a promotional code on door dash:
it seemed to be part of entering the right link in the email.

I don't know if this will help, I hope it is not true for you, but a lot of

don't qualify. I hope they are more generous for you.

When I enter the promotion code, voiceover does not read anything when I click

I’d appreciate any help.

For insurance re theft lost broken etc

Re: Battery Issue in latest update

2021-08-01 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
The reason why I only pay $10 per month for apple care, is because
last year something new from apple is offered here in the US. I had
to get the $10 per month option within 30 days of my apple care+
expiring. I took advantage of it, and I'm happy with it. I am
waiting for my iPhone to get to at least 80%, then I will have the
battery replaced.

I don't know if this will help, I hope it is not true for you, but a lot of
those Uber Eats promotions have some unfortunate small print, like needing a
$35 or $40 order to qualify. That is way more than I ever order, so I usually
don't qualify. I hope they are more generous for you.

Re: changes in drop box

2021-08-01 Thread Chris Chaffin

As far as Martin's question, if your Dropbox app is not staying in sync with
Dropbox on your computer, then it could possibly be one of a few things:
Your internet connection. Either your phone is not getting a good internet
connection in order for the app to update its files, or you have it set to only
update while on a WI-FI connection. As previously stated, Dropbox does not
actually download the files to your phone, but instead, you are viewing your
files that are online. So an internet connection is a must.
Or, Since your app on your phone is only viewing the files that are uploading
and online, I would check to make sure the files are properly uploading from
your computer. Maybe the syncing on your computer is paused for some reason.
Lastly, if all else fails, there is always a possibility that the app on your
phone for some reason is no longer synced with your Dropbox account. You can
test this by just logging out of the app on your phone and logging back in.

I have went through all of the settings on my computer, and I can not see any
specific setting that turns on or off syncing. The only setting that could be
effecting this, but I do not think so, is what they call smart sync. This
setting is not suppose to stop any file from actually syncing. It is only
suppose to help if you are limited with actual storage space on your computer.

Ann, as far as your work computer being a week behind your home computer, to
check to see if your syncing has been paused or something;
1, Go to the system tray by tabbing around past the task bar, then arrow to the
Dropbox icon in your system tray. It does not work for me if I bring up my
system tray in a dialog box like f11 does in Jaws.
2, Hit the application key or shift f10, then hit enter. You have to hit enter
in order to make the menu pop up.
3, Now arrow up until you hear, view sync issue, then if you arrow up one more
time, you should hear, pause syncing. If it says pause syncing, then that means
that syncing is turned on, and your Dropbox is currently syncing as it should.
If it does not say pause syncing, then that is your problem.

This is also how you get to your Dropbox settings. The settings is called
Preferences in the menu.

Hope this is helpful.

Check your Dropbox sync settings on both devices.
And, if you have it set to always keep on this device, which would
possibly have something to do with this.
Just guessing here.

RE: Battery Issue in latest update

2021-08-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Thanks Malcolm for this information and my apologies for assuming that because
theft and loss are not covered here that this is so everywhere.
It goes to show that discussing such options really require posters to specify
which country they are in because here in Canada the AppleCare+ with Theft and
Loss is not offered and in fact Apple clearly states that whatever coverage
they provide may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where you live.
The same applies to many services or products such as the Apple Credit Card,
Apple Pay, Apple TV etc.

On the US Apple website it does say:
Every iPhone comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its
limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support.
Both AppleCare+ options extend your coverage and provide up to two incidents of
accidental damage protection every 12 months.
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss adds up to two incidents of theft or loss
coverage every 12 months.

And then there are the many countries around the world where Apple has no
presence in terms of Apple Stores and Apple products are distributed and sold
exclusively by third party companies, South Africa is one such example.

Like Richard the Dropbox files on my iPhone are always in sync. On the
iPhone files are only actually downloaded if you specifically Star a file (I
think that is the terminology Dropbox uses), otherwise you have to have a
connection to the internet either via WiFi or cellular data.

RE: Battery Issue in latest update

2021-08-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Apple Care + is good for 2 years, maybe you have something extra offered by
Best Buy, but you only get a battery replaced at no charge if its capacity
drops below 80% prior to or by the time your AppleCare+ warranty expires.
I used to get AppleCare+ as well when I had my first 3 or 4 iPhones, but I
think the last time I bought it was with my 6S. Now it's so expensive that I
don't bother any more, I pay something like $40 a year to have a separate rider
added to my home insurance which covers my iPhone and this includes loss or
theft as well not just damage and AppleCare+ does not cover that. When I lost
my iPhone 6S back in 2016 or whenever it was I claimed it through my insurance
and with very little fuss I received a cheque for the full amount of what a new
iPhone 6S cost at the time + taxes and this way I was actually not even stuck
with getting the exact same replacement and I ended up paying the extra to buy
a 6S Plus at the time.
Here is a bunch of information about AppleCare+ directly from the Apple website:

Coverage begins on your AppleCare+ purchase date.
Service coverage is available only for iPhone and its original included
accessories or for batteries that retain less than 80% of their original
capacity.
The replacement equipment that Apple provides as part of the repair or
replacement service may be new or equivalent to new in both performance and
reliability. See AppleCare+ Terms and Conditions for full details.
AppleCare+ for iPhone provides coverage for up to two incidents of accidental
damage from handling every 12 months. Each incident is subject to a service fee
of $39 for a screen replacement, or $129 for any other damage, plus applicable
tax. Any unused incidents will expire after 12 months of coverage and you will
get two more incidents to use within the next 12 months of continued coverage.
Local telephone fees may apply. Telephone numbers and hours of operation may
vary and are subject to change.
Express Replacement Service is not available under the screen replacement
service fee. Same-day service availability and options may vary by region and
iPhone model.
For international service, Apple may repair or replace your iPhone and iPhone
parts with a comparable iPhone model or parts that comply with local standards.
Service coverage is subject to AppleCare+ Terms and Conditions. See AppleCare+
Terms and Conditions for complete product details.
AppleCare+ benefits are separate from and in addition to the Apple Limited
Warranty and any legal rights provided by consumer protection laws in your
jurisdiction.

I've got apple care+ with theft and loss that I now pay $10 per month for. So
when I need to get a new battery, it shouldn't cost me anything. I have to go
to best buy for any apple work on my iPhone.
I don't really like best buy, but I have no choice.

Assuming they are using the same login, you will need to bring up the Dropbox
settings and go through the options.
I have not touched them in a very long time or I'd give more specifics I
suspect if you don't find a setting that makes sense, a web search will turn up
the answer.

Check your Dropbox sync settings on both devices.

Usually, you can find the attachment by touching at the bottom of the screen,
like on delete, or more actions, and flicking left. You should land on the
file name. Just double tap, and it will be opened for viewing.

RE: Battery Issue in latest update

2021-08-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
82% is very close to where Apple recommends that you get the battery changed
and I am actually surprised it still considers it peak performance, maybe they
changed it a bit, but when I had my iPhone 8 I was told my battery was not
performing at it's full potential when it was at 83%.

I updated my iPhone 8 to 14.71 yesterday and when I checked my battery health,
it still said I was at 82% and at peak performance. I have been at this level
of power, 82% and at peak performance for some time now. I'll keep an eye out
and see if anything changes in the future.

Re: Battery Issue in latest update

2021-08-01 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I've got apple care+ with theft and loss that I now pay $10 per month
for. So when I need to get a new battery, it shouldn't cost me
anything. I have to go to best buy for any apple work on my iPhone.
I don't really like best buy, but I have no choice.

Re: Battery Issue in latest update

2021-08-01 Thread Richard Turner
When the battery health drops below 80%, Apple recommends getting the battery
replaced.
As the battery health declines your battery will hold its charge for less time.
If you got 5 hours at 100% then at 80% you'll get 4 roughly 4 hours.
I do not know what other problems the degrading battery may cause, but jenwally
it isn't that expensive to get it replaced.
There are lots of places that will do that if Apple gives you a stupidly high
price.

What is happening is that you are pressing 3 fingers to the screen instead of
2. To restore the voice, Either, press 3 fingers to the screen or turn voice
over off and back on again. I guess we can fix the problem by changing the 3
finger gesture to something else. Maybe down the line the team could change it
to something else that stops this from happening or we can be more careful.

I have the same issue... though I just turn voice-over off and back on again.
It takes a few tries though.

Twice this evening when I ended a phone call voiceover was gone.I could connect
my Bose frames and hear it. Audio routing did nothing. I had to shut the phone
down and restart it to get it to work.
