RE: Netflix now rolling out Spatial Audio support on iPhone and iPad

2021-08-20 Thread Christopher Chaltain
OK, I’ll be looking forward to IOS 15 when it comes out, but as I said, I do
see spatial audio when I double tap the volume slider in the control center
when I’m using my Airpod Pros. BTW, I didn’t see this option with other
headphones. Like I said, turning it on and off did make a difference with Apple
TV Plus content. Sounds like I’ll be getting a lot more with IOS 15, but it
seems like there’s already something there with my install of IOS 14.7.1.

Believe you need to be using the Beta of iOS 15 to get the options in settings.
You won't be able to enjoy Spatial Audio until you toggle it on for Video,
Audio or Both. The default is set too off.

I was running iOS 14.7.1 too and experienced what you are currently. Install
the beta and all Spatial Audio settings will be available. Trust me.

Did you set the options for it under Settings/Accessibility/Airpods? I set
mines to both video and audio. The default is off. Think you need to set that
option for the toggle in the Control Panel to disable/enable Spatial Audio.

You need to be using iOS Beta 15 to see the Spatial Audio option in
Settings/Accessibility/Airpods...towards the bottom of the page.

You can also bring up the iOS Control Panel and triple tap on the Volume slider
control That will launch a hidden menu in which "Enable Spatial Audio" can be
toggled on or off from there too. It works on all audio playing on any app
through your Airpods.

It works great and I plan on using it when listening to my Eagles vs. Pats
preseason game on my iPhone 8 tonight. Have a SiriusXM subscription. Talk about

Brian,

Below is a post I made to the idevi...@groups.io list on 8/10/21 providing a
workaround correction to this issue:

Abbie,

The reduced Voiceover volume in the Alexa app started a few upgrades ago. To
get Voiceover back, press the Home button on your SE 2020 to jump to your home
screen and then return to the Alexa app using the App Switcher. Voiceover
should be working correctly when you return. Then, do the following:

1. In the bottom right corner of the screen, execute the More button which
is button 5 of 5 on the bottomline tool bar.
2. Swipe right on the screen that opens to Settings and double tap.
3. Swipe right on the screen that opens to Alexa app settings and double
tap.
4. Swipe to Enable Alexa hands free and make sure it is turned on.

After doing this, the next time you open the Alexa app, Voiceover should again
be working at the correct volume level. At least it did for me after I did this.

Netflix now rolling out Spatial Audio support on iPhone and iPad

Netflix has confirmed that it is now rolling out Spatial Audio support to its
iPhone and iPad applications. This enables an immersive experience using
directional audio filters, and it has been a long time coming to Netflix users.
A Netflix spokesperson has confirmed to 9to5Mac that the company has started
rolling out Spatial Audio support on iPhone and iPad on iOS 14. The news was
first reported by users on Reddit as well as in a report from iPhoneSoft,
The toggle for managing Spatial Audio is located in the Control Center. The
spatial audio feature is exclusive to AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.
Apple says that spatial audio is an immersive experience using directional
audio filters to “play sounds virtually anywhere in space, creating an
immersive sound experience.” This will put surround channels exactly in the
right spot, even as you turn your head or move your device.
Here’s how Apple describes the spatial audio feature for AirPods Pro and

Re: Amazon Alexa goes to earpiece

2021-08-20 Thread Alan Lemly
Kevin,

With hands free turned off, does Voiceover work correctly for you when you
launch the Alexa app? Amazon has had definite issues with their apps not
working as expected for Voiceover users. With the recent update to the Amazon
Music app, I had to go into settings and turn off microphone access for that
app to get Voiceover working correctly. Apparently, VoiceOver users need to be
prepared for an ongoing trial and error process where certain Amazon apps are
concerned.

Re: Problem with the Audible App for iOS 13.x:

2021-08-20 Thread Daniel MacDonald
hello Mark,

What is your hessatation to upgrade to iOS 14? I’ve been using it when the
first public beta was released. No major problems with it’s current version,
iOS 14.7.1. Of course, now, I’m beta testing the developer betas of iOS 15, and
reporting bugs I find. If you want to use Audible, it seems you will have to
update.

Think you need to set that
option for the toggle in the Control Panel to disable/enable Spatial Audio.

player or Netflix, I don’t hear any difference in the audio. The Netflix show I
watched was kind of old, so I don’t know if it hasn’t been rolled out at all
yet or just not for the show I was watching. When I brought up Mythic Quest
from Apple TV Plus, I could definitely hear a difference when I turned on
spacial audio, but it wasn’t a life changing experience. I’ll keep playing with
it, and I’m looking forward to hearing more examples of this in Netflix and
with IOS 15. I’m also glad I found out about bringing this option up from the
volume slider in the control center, so thanks to Richard and the list for
pointing this out. Note that I’m not trying to correct any information with

Pat

Brian,

Below is a post I made to the idevi...@groups.io list on 8/10/21 providing a
workaround correction to this issue:

Abbie,

The reduced Voiceover volume in the Alexa app started a few upgrades ago. To
get Voiceover back, press the Home button on your SE 2020 to jump to your
home screen and then return to the Alexa app using the App Switcher.
Voiceover should be working correctly when you return. Then, do the
following:

1. In the bottom right corner of the screen, execute the More button
which is button 5 of 5 on the bottomline tool bar.
2. Swipe right on the screen that opens to Settings and double tap.
3. Swipe right on the screen that opens to Alexa app settings and
double tap.
4. Swipe to Enable Alexa hands free and make sure it is turned on.

After doing this, the next time you open the Alexa app, Voiceover should
again be working at the correct volume level. At least it did for me after I
did this.

Apparently, VoiceOver users need to be
prepared for an ongoing trial and error process where certain Amazon apps are
concerned.

I'm in a webinar with all sighted people, accessed using the Zoom iPhone
app, and there are tons of essential links being posted in the Chat window.
The meeting ends in about another 30 minutes.

How do I capture the links being posted in the chat window?

Thanks!

Deborah

Parcel track

2021-08-20 Thread Kay Malmquist
Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone has noticed this if you are using Parcel track. I
am a long time user of this app, but still don't understand what is
happening or why. I copy the tracking number and then go to the app. When
I open the App, it says, paste occurred. There is nothing that shows up on
the first page, and I expect that. When I go to the new parcel button and
open that, there is nothing appearing in the fields. So, where did the
paste occur? So, then I go to the tracking number field and paste the
number in. Usually if the number is correct, in the courier field the
courier name will show up. Now, nothing shows up. Of course, if you try to
save it, it tells you to put a tracking number in and that it is unable to
save. Ever since I upgraded to I O S 14, I have not been able to use it.
Any ideas? Thanks much.

Maybe explore the screen, I haven't used this app for a long time, but unless I
mix this up with another app when there is a tracking number on the clipboard
then a dialogue appears on the screen where it asks you if you want to create a

a problem with audio volume during calls

2021-08-20 Thread Dan

I am having a problem that I have never
seen before.

When on a call if I need to access the
keypad the VO voice volume is extremely low.  I can barely hear
what it is saying when it is speaking the keys on the on screen
keypad. The rest of the speech and audio is just great but not
this.

Has anyone else seen this and what did you
do to make the VO voice in this case louder?  I do have audio
ducking off, I checked that first.

I can't even turn it up while it is
speaking using the volume up and down buttons.

Thanks for any ideas.

Hello,
VoiceOver volume can be access in rotor only if you add it.
But this problem I already had it.
You can try to force restart; hope it's the right way to say in English.
