RE: Onscreen Keyboard Does Not Show Up On my iPhones since Recent Update

2023-10-21 Thread Debbie April Yuille
Thanks. It wasn't easy. I googled the problem and the fix I found was for
sighted users. So, I realised that I needed to get my focus in the right area,
then use the shortcut to turn voice over off and on again.

Hi Ron

I've had that problem too. What you need to do, is put your cursor in the text
area like usual. Then, while keeping your finger in that area, turn voice over
off then with your finger, do a long press, hopefully when you then turn voice
over back on, your keyboard should be there.

Subject: Onscreen Keyboard Does Not Show Up On my iPhones since Recent Update

Hi Group,

I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this and if there is a fix.

For years now, when using the iPhone, when I double tap an edit field, I get
the message: 'text field insertion point at start (sometimes insertion point at
end.' I can then move down to a keyboard with standard QWERTY keys and a
dictate button and enter/search/go button in the bottom right area.

I hadn't tried entering anything for a week or so and I noticed there had been
an update to the IOS in the past few days. Now when I double tap on an edit
field, I no longer see a QWERTY type keyboard anywhere on screen for me to
enter text. There is a dictate button, but nothing else.

is this a bug introduced recently in the latest IOS update? How can I make the
onscreen keyboard appear as it has for years? Thanks for any help.

William, getting used to face ID will take some practice. I get it
most of the time now, although I have had my iPhone for a little over
a year. Carolyn, how could you have an iPhone, and haven't yet
downloaded any apps on it. What about things like amazon, bard, or
audible, or voice dream reader. The list goes on and on.

2023-10-21 Thread William Outman
Okay. I got the app I wanted at the moment, one sir my new smart microwave.
I’ll be using Alexa to control my new Toshiba microwave. It requires their app
as well.
Face ID was not recognized but I was able to use my Apple ID password.

Side button in App Store

2023-10-21 Thread William Outman
Hello.
I have gone from an 8 Plus to a 15 Pro. I am asked in places like the App Store
to confirm with the side button and then in that case double click to install.
I seem unable to do this.
Am I not doing that command correctly or is there something I need to set up.
I was accustomed to using Touch ID with the home button.

Re: IOS 17.03 and side button sound when talking to siri

2023-10-21 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I didn't do anything, the vibration was just something I felt when I
held down the side button to activate Siri. I also just usually say
the word Siri if I need her to make a call, or ask her a question.

Try looking at the classic voice control, setting in accessibility for Siri.
Classic Voice Control will respond when you press and hold the Home button.

Re: Question: Is Anyone Using two eSIM Cards in an iPhone?

2023-10-21 Thread Kelly Pierce
The benefit Sieghard of locking phones is the great deals companies
offer to attract new business. They can offer hundreds of dollars off
the cost of a new iPhone. Often these deals require someone to sign
up for a pricy phone plan they do not need. Over a two or three-year
period, it would be a lot cheaper to pay full price for the iPhone
from Apple and sign up for service from a MVNO. At other times, the
service can be reasonably priced and the iPhone deal is lucrative.
Consumers need to not just look at the phone discount but the price of
the service as well. Overall, when companies compete for our business,
we win.

Re: How do I lock the orientation of my Ipad?

2023-10-21 Thread Matt White
You are looking at the settings panel for the control center, you need the
actual control center.
If it’s a newer device without a home button, you can pull down from the top of
the screen, two clicks, instead of three like you do for notifications.

There is no advantage to wait, in the current release of iOS 17 there are no
major issues which are fixed in iOS 17.1, at least not to my knowledge.
Some people seem to be having issues with braille displays, but since I have
never used one and never will I can't speak to this and it would appear from
the messages I have seen, that the problems may have to do with the particular
set of settings on a phone because other people who use the same braille
display don't have them.
It's unfortunate that Apple seems to be introducing issues which are
specifically related to certain settings as these are hard to pin down.

2023-10-21 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Yes, find the Alexa app on your home page and flick down and double tap on the
edit option. Now that you're in edit mode, make sure you're on the Alexa app
and flick down to delete and double tap. You now have the choice to remove your
app from the home screen or delete it. You want to double tap on delete. Now
you can go into the App Store and redownload it.

Hello,

I have iPhone SC20 and iOS 16. I installed Alexa, but Alexa doesn't talk to me.
I think that happens because I didn't read aloud something when I opened the

Is it possible? If so, please, explain how.

RE: System sounds lower in iOS 17

2023-10-21 Thread Carolyn Arnold
I don't have a braille display or a peripheral keyboard, so maybe I'll be all
right with the update.

Is it possible to uninstall an app?

2023-10-21 Thread Rena
Hello,

I have iPhone SC20 and iOS 16. I installed Alexa, but Alexa doesn't talk to
me. I think that happens because I didn't read aloud something when I opened
the app for the first time. I would like to uninstall it and install it
again.

Is it possible? If so, please, explain how.

Rena
