How to make ringtones in Garage Band for IOS

2012-10-05 Thread Blinkin
All,
For those who may be interested I just published a podcast on how to
export songs you create in Garage Band for IOS as ringtones.
I have an earlier podcast that explains a little more in depth the
layout and how to use Garage Band on IOS so if you want that just click the
home button on the website and just scroll down a few headings.
here is the link

Limit Add Tracking in IOS 6

2012-10-03 Thread Blinkin
For those interested,
There is a switch to allow or disallow add tracking so apps can present
targeted adds to you.
To find it go to Settings, tap on General, tap on About, and scroll
down until you reach Advertising.
Once you open that there is one switch you can turn on or off at your
own discretion.
Happy fall!

Multiple Signatures for Individual Mail Accounts

2012-09-27 Thread Blinkin
Hello everyone!
For those of you who may not know in the new IOS you can set different
mail signatures for different accounts if you have them set up.
To find it go to Settings, Mail, then scroll to signatures.
There are two buttons there to specify how to make it work.
Enjoy!

Re: LightSaber Ap? has any one else heard about it?

2012-08-18 Thread Blinkin
I have heard of these. I know they are still around if you have jailbroken your
device.
Basically when you open the app it makes the sound of a lightsaber
turning on and when you swing your phone around it makes the swishy sound from
the movies.
When you clothe app it makes the sound of a lightsaber turning off.
Other than that there is nothing else to do with the app.
I haven't heard of any other Star Wars apps though so Ican't speak
about those.

Hope this helps!

Spotify on Mac and the IOS Remote question

2012-07-19 Thread Blinkin
All,
For anyone who has tried Spottily on their computer you know it is
totally inaccessible.
Well the other day I stumbled across a remote in the IOS app store that
says you can completely control it.
I didn't but it because I don't want to spend the few bucks it costs to
purchase.
Has anyone tried this to see if you can control the program on the
computer through the IOS remote?
then and take care!

All you need to do is flick to the right like with the other gestures but don't
lift your finger up.
Basically just slide to the right and pause with your finger on the

Re: Three-finger gesture to turn off VO: Was Re: Two-finger double-tap Re: I have a few questions

I also use this mute when I am on phone calls. Sometimes VO will read out the
length of my call every thirty seconds or so.
I also hate getting a notification in the middle of a call and having
VO talk over the person I am on the phone with.

When I first got my iPhone, I had a similar problem. It turns out I
had a lazy finger, I think it was my thumb, and it would kind of droop
down a bit and occasionally brush the screen during a gesture,
changing the gesture altogether! I also found that the fingers holding
the iPhone would occasionally wrap around to the front a bit too much
and get picked up as another finger during a gesture. As Raul said,
paying attention to this and practicing resolved these issues for me.

Re: audio mixer programs and best Microphone

You can record your voice in Garage band on the iPad and insert music and have
it play in the background.
I don't know of any mixing programs for PC but I just bought a Shire SM
58 Vocal Mic and a Shire XLR to USB Adaptor and it sounds awesome!
Those two pieces of gear will cost around $250 together. I love it

Re: Pasting youtube links into a facebook status

2012-07-10 Thread Blinkin
Jen,
Someone might have a faster way but I just tried this and it works.
On the videos info screen where there are the related videos showing
you will find a share button a little above the middle od the screen and a bit
to the right.
Click it and one of the options is to share via email.
Once you press that it will open a new message with the link in it.
MMove the VO cursor to the beginning of the link, access the rotor and select
lines, then put two ingers together on the screen and slide the right away from
the left to select the text.
Once it is selected access the rotor again until you hear edit.
From there flick up until you hear copy.
copy the link and launch Facebook. Open a new status, click the text
box, rotor to edit, click to paste, click it and your done.
Ha ha this is the only way I know for sure on the iPhone. sorry it's
not simple.

Re: Jailbreak Podcast is finally ready to download!

2012-07-10 Thread Blinkin
I don't have Siri but I know that you can't set calendar events or reminders
with Eva.
One of the big things that is missing is the hands free ability. With
Siri you just hold the button and start talking and it talks back. With Eva you
have to open the app, press the listen button, then scroll through the answers.
Of course these are limitations put in place by apple. So there is
nothing that can be done. Gotta watch those patent infringements ay know.
Someone with Siri can probably talk more about this.

Re: Having trouble accessing my youtube account on my iPod touch and phone

2012-07-10 Thread Blinkin
I have a iPhone 4 and I have never had a problem like this before.
As far as sharing options go there are only buttons for email and
Twitter. In IOS 6 when Facebook is more integrated a button will be there but
that does not do any good now.
I suppose you could copy the URL then paste it into a Facebook status
on your phone. That is probably the only way.

Good lord Ben,
Ha ha I think that email can convince anyone that Siri on anything but
a 4s is not worth the effort.
I wish I knew what half of that stuff meant ha ha.
If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?

Re: 7" iPad to Be Launch This Fall

2012-07-10 Thread Blinkin
Honestly I don't really get the point of a 7 inch iPad. Obviously they are
going to target the mid range community there and probably make it somewhere
around 2 to $300 so people who can't or don't need to pay ful price dont need o.
This relates to the other topic about why people need an iPhone and
iPad. Honestly what is the point of yet another device that does the same
thing? Perhaps I am missing something though.
Like Ricardo said, rumors abound and I am pretty sure this rumor has
existed since about 2010 ha ha.

Re: Vokul vs. Evi: Which one is better?

2012-07-09 Thread Blinkin
Hello,
vokul for me has been very very good and has hardly misunderstood
anything I say to it. I love Vokul for my texting.
I use Evi for everything but texting and social media updates though.
You can't ask Vokul where the nearest gas station is for example.
Evi sometimes misunderstands who I want my texts to go to but it is
fairly good at it. It is certainly faster than Vokul but like I said they both
have their place on my dock.

Hope this helps!

Re: Why get iPhone and iPad?

2012-07-09 Thread Blinkin
Hello,
There are a handful of apps that are offered on the iPad that aren't on
the iPhone but in my opinion it hardly makes it worth the cost.
I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2, the only reason though is because I got the
iPad for Christmas last year.
It is easier to tpe so if there is achoice between that and my iPhone I
will pick iPad but replying to emails is still faster on a computer.
To sum it all up, no, there is no good reason to get one.

Re: question

To create a golder just tap twice on an app and hold it until VO says it is
being moved.
then just drag it and drop it on top of another application.
It will automatically create a folder and you can name it whatever you

Re: Jail breaking -- What is repository?

2012-07-07 Thread Blinkin
In a butshell a repository is a website where the different apps and tweaks are
stored.
When you add a repository to cydia you are giving it permission to
access those apps and download them.
There are somewhere around 5 that are pre installed when you jailbreak
and these are the only ones that have truely been vouched for and tested for
security.
It is possible to add a repository with harmful content in it so make
sure you are comfortable with anything you add.
i hope this helps make sense of it.
have a good day!

Just make sure to check everything out before you buy anything huh.
I have had some friends buy the key for sir only to find out that they can't
even run it because the package doesn't work.

I sent the Podcast link out last night and it should be up on iTunes

Re: Jail breaking

2012-07-05 Thread Blinkin
I will cover this also in my podcast.
I have had one or two extra bugs while using voice over on my
jailbroken iPhone 4 but nothing has ever moved and the bugs are certainly easy
to live with.
The two biggest I deal with occasionally are folders closing a split
second after I open them and I just have to re tap the screen and occasionally
when I press the sleep button my phone will take a screen shot instead of
locking.
to fix this I just tap the home button twice then hit the sleep button
and it goes right to sleep.
these are the only issues I have ever had with voice over. Everything
has worked just fine for me but I have not unlocked my phone. Only jailbroken
it.
If I am lucky I will have one of these bugs happen tonight when I
finish recording.
cheers!

 John,

What if you elect to upgrade your phone and subsequently not jailbreak the
device? I assume you can reload those apps acquired from Cydia? I assume
 you
cannot upgrade those apps since you would not have access to the Cydia app
 store unless you jailbreak again?

Re: Jailbreaking

2012-07-03 Thread Blinkin
Hey,
The only jailbreak app I have found that can do a sort of backup is
AptBackup.
This app saves a list of all your apps and after you upgrade or do a
restore you open it again and click the restore button and it will download all
of your jailbreak apps again.

Oh and I forgot PDANet

This wwill let you turn your phone into a wireless hotspot or you can plug it
in to your laptop and use your phones internet on your computer.
With the free version you can't go to any HTTPS pages but if you pay
for it you can do whatever you want.

Re: Jailbreaking

2012-07-01 Thread Blinkin
Here are the ones i use and like the most.

Icky. Puts a fifth row on the top of your keyboard that you can customize. I
have some punctuation and email addresses on mine.
Facebook This.hen you are looking at a picture in your camera roll it adds a
button to share on Facebook so you don't have to open the app at all.
Winterboard. Lets you customize the UI display and sounds, including the lock
and unlock sounds as well as many others.
Activator. Lets you set up many different ways to open apps and other phone
actions like play and paue music or next or previous track. This one has a lot
of settings and ways to customize but it easy once you understand the layout.
Voice Activator is similar to activator but is you don't have an iPhone 4s you
can set custom commands so your voice activator will open apps for you.
Auto Protect will detect your home or work wifi and when you leave your phone
will require a passcode to unlock it. As soon as your back on whatever network
you specify it will no longer ask for the passcode.
I also downloaded "Last App" which is used with Activator. You can assign a
button on gesture or someting and it will automatically open the last app
opened. NO need to open app switcher.

These are some of my favorites. If you need any help or anything let me know.

Cheers,

Mike

Re: Nike Plus Running App

2012-06-26 Thread Blinkin
I have used this app quite a bit and after a run you can calibrate it but you
have to know the actual distance you ran.
I did this on my treadmill. After finishing a run my wife would tell me
the treadmill distance, which was usually longer than what the app said.
Even after doing this after running outside and knowing the exact
distance tthough it is still sometimes off by a few miles.
It isn't exact but it does give you a pretty fair of how far you have
gone.
Hope this help!

New IOS Game

2012-06-17 Thread Blinkin
All,
This game is called Where's my Rubber Ducky.
You use 3D audio, put your headphones in, spin around and tab the
screen the shoot zombies that are walking toward you.
It is free in the app store. It uses the compass and GPS to tell how
you are turning and what direction your facing.
I am downloading it now because it sounds fun and is free so why not.
Here is where I found it

Re: NHL game center app

2012-06-07 Thread Blinkin
Hello,
As far as the Live games go you have to have an account at nhl.com
where you have to pay for that type of service.
I had it a few years back before losing my sight where I watched the NHL
games on my laptop. I am almost positive it is the save service an in 2008 was
about $130 a year.
Hope this helps!
