RE: Possible solution for backing up BARD Mobile content to a Windows computer for syncing to an iOS device.
Hi, I installed this program on Win7 with the latest JFW but find it totally inaccessible with no menu or right-click options. Maybe the mac version (if there is one) will be more friendly. The program is called iFunbox and works on a Windows computer. I'm not sure if there's a Mac version, though. I plan to check this out. I have a few BARD books on my iPhone, with lots of bookmarks, and I'd hate to lose them. I've been hearing contradictory information as to whether BARD books/bookmarks are backed up, even with an encripted backup, so I wanted to give this a shot. It doesn't require jailbreaking, at least not for most things, as far as I've been able to gather. Thanks, Ari -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. RE: Apple Accessibility about screen curtain and battery, was: battery draining
Hi, Or you can just tell Siri: make the screen brighter. Jon -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2013 6:45 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Apple Accessibility about screen curtain and battery, was: battery draining Hello Shai, I definitely think you should turn auto brightness off and, unless you yourself have useable vision or have a sighted person who often uses the phone I would turn brightness to 0. You can always turn it up if needed, this will be very much easier next week when iOS 7 comes out where you can simply touch an item in the status bar, swipe up with 3 fingers to bring up the new Control Center where you have the brightness settting easily accessible. If you are concerned somebody reads over your shoulder where they shouldn't, you can still turn the screen curtain on, it won't extend your battery life, but it shouldn't hurt it, either. Would it be good then to turn screen curtain off, set brightness down to 0 and turn autobrightness off to keep that setting? Also, what about if a sighted person were to use the phone, should that setting be left on? Would one still get the same affect of increased battery life? I wrote to Apple Accessibility and ask for an official statement regarding screen curtain and brightness and below is the reply: From: Apple Accessibility [mailto:accessibil...@apple.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2013 7:45 AM To: siegh...@live.ca Subject: [415306] Screen curtain and battery draining Hello, Sieghard. Dimming the screen is the correct means of regulating backlight power consumption for best battery life between charges. Officially: [turning] screen curtain 'on' has no effect on battery. Dimming the screen does effect the battery. The curtain function is a means to obscure screen content quickly, hence the three-finger triple-tap activates it. RE: bluetooth headset
Hello May, The HBS-700 LG Tone Is great, Amazon has them for around $50 most of the time, what I like is that's basically a set of very comfortable earbuds on a sort of neck strap. Basically you just put either or both buds on their magnetic holders on each end when not in use. The headset is so light that you almost forget you are wearing the thing. It has a bass boost and handles Siri, voiceover and other sounds and has 10 hours per charge. RE: Can I put IPhone Apps on A thumb Drive? What folder in iTunes would I Copy them into?
Hi Wren, You can look for the .ipa files in your iTunes library and copy them to another place for safe keeping. Then (if you need to copy them back to your iTunes library, on a new computer or if you undergo Windows re-installation for example) you can add them from the iTunes file menu. What folder in iTunes would I Copy them into? Hi All, and thank you for the help I a am going to upgrade my iPhone to an iPhone if it comes out. IS there any way to put my apps on a thumb drive in case something happens to my computer? I know that the apps can be transferred from one iPhone to another, but as I have been having computer problems I wanted to find out if there is a way to store the apps separately. Also if they are on a thumb drive how would I get them back into ITunes? I should say which folder in iTunes would I copy them into? If this is too complicated, or if it has been discussed before please write me off list. Thank you all again. RE: Seeking Advice on Creating Ring Tones
Hi, There is a difference in terminology here. The ring tone with ATT as I've said can be just under 40 seconds. How long the carrier waits before sending the call off to Voice Mail is a different animal and apparently you can change the standard four rings to a higher number by calling your carrier and requesting that change in many cases. Four instance ATT only allows 30 seconds at the most before your voicemail turns on. Just a thought. Don't know much about this thing. Ringtone Maker has an option to send the new ringtone to anybody via e-mail so I opted to send it to both my iCloud and charter e-mail addresses. I was disappointed to find that the attachment sent back to my iPhone could be opened and played, but no option to squirrel it away for permanent use on the iPhone. However, when the attachment arrived on my desktop (Windows Vista) I saved it to the iTunes folders directly into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder. I haven't tried to sync just yet, but I'm hoping this will work. It will be one way to skin this cat. For any feline devotees out there, pardon me, no offense intended! RE: Seeking Advice on Creating Ring Tones
Hi, This 30 second ring tone length falicy has been around for a few years now. I make most of my own ring tones and cut them at the 39 second plus mark as well.
