voiceover not reading everything on the weather app
Hello: I am finding that on the native weather app voice over does not read the detail feature where humidity and other data is displayed. Without voice over my wife is able to slide the screen a little so that this feature appears. Voice over then reads it; but without her help I can't get voice over to read that area. If voice over cannot do this on the Apple native weather app it seems to me that Apple should take note of this if they haven't already done so. Thank you for any input. keyboard replacing gestures
Hello: I have a friend who is finding it difficult to master the gestures on her new ipod. She is wondering if obtaining a keyboard could bypass the need for learning the gestures. Does the keyboard have commands to replace the gestures? If so, what kind of keyboard should she buy, and where can she find instructions for its use? Thank you for your help. voiceover not reading part of the weather ap
Hello: since upgrading to Ios 9, I have noticed that voiceover is no longer reading the weather details in the native weather ap. This is next to the weather channal button. spot light not living up to expectations
Hi, Everyone: I was very impressed with spot light on my wife's iphone 6s. I liked expecially the near by feature. I therefore upgraded my iphone 4s to ios 9.1. I am very disappointed to find that spot light doesn't show these items on my phone. It also doesn't appear to show the calls I receive as the app switcher did on ios 8. unable to connect to the app store
Hello: a while ago I wrote to the list about an intermittent problem I am having with my iphone 4s, running Ios 8.3, of not being able to update the apps. When I try to do so, they just hang there, either saying connecting, or, stuck in the download. On the status bar I see connection in progress I called the apple disability line on several occasions, and went to the Apple store. They tryed all the different resets. Most recently at the Apple store, they did a complete reset restoring my stuff from the cloud. After this, the problem went away for a few days, but it has returned. Calling the Apple support line again, they suggested that I do another complete reset, but ;this time not to restore the phone from the cloud, but rather to go the my purchased apps, and down load them one by one. I have my doubts as to whether this will solve the problem. I would appreciate any ideas anyone might have about how to solve this problem. Thanking you in advance. Hello; I am having the same problem with my iPhone for S. I had to take it to the Apple store. They did a complete reset of the phone, removing all data from the phone and restoring it. help with notifications
Hello: I am using an iphone 4s running ios 8.3. I find that numerous notifications appear when I unlock my phone, on the unlock screen. Under the language options I didn’t see the audio description listed. Only the one for closed captions. unable to update apps
Hello: I recently updated my iphone 4s from ios 7.11 to 8.3. I find now that when trying to updates the apps listed for update in the app store that they show that they are either downloading or trying to connect, but the update process remains stuck there. I have tried shutting off my phone but the problem persists. Has anyone experienced this problem? What can be done to solve this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated. setting recording time and having them play in Tunin
Hello: Tunin has finely fixed the problem where the hour and minute weren't being read by Voiceover when you wanted to have Tunin record at a specific time. Now however I find that when it is time to record instead of starting to play the station and recording, Tunin only gives me an alert that itt is time to record. can no longer use canfind
Hello everyone: I am using an iphone 4s and ios 712. With the most recent update of Canfind, now, when I take a picture I am knocked out of the app. Is there anything that can be done to remedy this? I have been postponing updating to ios 8, but now I am wondering if I should do so. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this. how to reinstall a purchased app
Hello: having problems with the KNFB Reader, one of the suggestions was to remove it and then install it again. How would one do this? I went into the purchased apps that appears at the top of the upgrade screen in the appstore but found no apps there. just purchased knfbreader and it doesn't work

ways of backing up your iphone
Hello, friends: it is my understanding that there are two ways of backing up your I device: using the iTunes on your computer, or using the I cloud. When purchasing a new phone I assume that all the contents of your phone can be retrieve by either of these methods. My question is, is one of them more reliable than the other? problem in accessing netfliks
Hello: this may have been discussed before on the list. I am finding the app for Netfliks a little difficult to use. When swiping to a program, when I tap on it it doesn't open. Also, when resuming a program the place where I left off is lost. On the computer using Jaws accessibility isn't much better. Has anyone else using Netfliks had these problems? Hello: I wonder if anyone can explain how the dial assist is supposed to work on the phone of the iphone. From my understanding it is supposed to help making international calls by recognizing the country to which one is calling. I tried it in calling to Mexico City and found it not to work. folks;Hello, I wonder if you can confirm what I am noticing in the Philadelphia Menu Pages where I have several restaurant menus. Before the two recent Ios updates, I was able to navigat eusing safari by heading to view the different categories of food on the menu. Now, Voiceover seems to loose its place and I can no longer navigate this way, which makes the menu virtually impossible to read do to its length. I am able to start a movie without any problem. Hello: I recently subscribed to netfliks and downloaded the app. I find a problem in trying to view programs that I have began seeing. appointments on calendar not showing
Hello: I am finding when I post an appointment on my calendar it is not showing on the designated day. An activity is indicated but there is no mention of what it is. I did however receive an alert on the day the appointment was due. I am using iphone 4s and ios 7.4. Any ideas as to why the appointments aren't showing? Thank you in advance. problem when answering calls
Hi, Everyone. I am using an iphone 4s. With the update to ios 7 I find that when I answer a call the speaker activates even though I have the phone to my ear. It takes a few seconds for the ear piece to kick in. This appears to be a bug with io 7. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you. Hi, all: I was trying to play a video on my iphone on facebook posted by one of my friends. Voiceover could not read the place to play it. My sighted wife was able to click on the image to hear it but Voiceover didn't read it. This appears to be an accessibility problem with the application. Has anyone been able to hear them? Thank you. when going on vacation
Hello: I am wondering how to prevent the messages from this group from going to my in box while on vacation. I have gone to the Google group page but I don't see any link to place the messages in web only as I was once told that could be done. talking goggles does not work for me
Hello, Everyone: I was very impressed by the success people are having with the ap Talking Goggles. I purchased it a few days ago, but have had no results. I am using an iphone 4s. I recognize that I am not very good with using the camera since I haven't had good results with some of the other aps that require the use of the camera. I had my sighted wife try the Goggles, and she didn't get much better results. I am using an odder box but my wife tells me that it doesn't block the camera. I have been able to get good videos with the camera. Any ideas as to what might be causing the ap not to work for me? Thanks for any help or suggestions. Hi, everyone: In search of a useable o cr app, I just downloaded the free app, Saytext. I tried following the instructions of, placing the iphone on the page after opening the app, and slowly raising the iphone from the page. Nothing happened. I notice that one of the buttons in the app is to take a picture, but the instructions indicate that that this is not necessary. The app doesn't work for me. transferring content from itunes to iphone via i cloud
Hello, everyone: I have recently been successful in transferring music from i tunes 11 to my iphone after connecting my iphone to my laptop. I would like to be able to transfer content via the i cloud if this is possible. The play lists indicate that i cloud is available, but I have no idea how to accomplish this. Also, I downloaded a lecture from the u play list, but it doesn't appear to have transferred along with the music. If it did, I don't know where to look for it. Hello: I have the app Around me on my Ipod Touch, but it doesn't seem to work. When I open it I get a message that location service must be activated in the Iphone settings. I learned of an app called Go 2 Read that allows one to get and read books from Bookshare on an Apple device; the problem is that the app costs nearly $20. Has anyone had experience using this app? problem with Voiceover in Tunein radio
Hello: I am a user of the Ipod Touch. I am very fond of the app, Tunein Radio Pro and its feature which allows one to be able to set the timer to record programs when one is not available to listen. I was able to do this in Ios 5 but I find now with Io6 that Voiceover no longer reads the field where the hour, minute, and am/pm is found. I confirmed with sighted help that this field is present. I am wondering whether anyone else has experienced this problem. I am no longer able to use this feature of Tunein which is very disappointing. temporarily stopping posts
Hi, everyone: I will be going on vacation and I need to stop the sending of the posts from this list due to the large volume. Apparently the Google page has changed because I cannot find the option to have messages not sent, only to be read on the web. I would appreciate any help. Thank you. Hello, Raul: the link you give here is that found in all the messages from the group. problem is when I go to the Google page I can't find anything that indicates how to change my subscription. I remember seeing this function in a previous version of Google, but it appears that they have updated the page making it much less friendly for a user of Jaws. Have you checked out the page recently? Per haps you can sho me where I can make the selection to have the posts only to be viewed on the web. Sorry for the bother. Thank you. some questions about the Ipad
Hello: my wife has the Ipad which she recently bought. We tried configuring Voiceover to be turned on by the triple press of the home button. It doesn't seem to work as is does with the Iphone and the Ipod Touch. Should it? Also, are the gestures the same as with these devices? Thank you.
