Unable to send messages using outlook contacts that have been synchronized with iCloud

2014-06-14 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi all,

I wanted to synchronize my calendars with my iPhone so was forced to choose
to synchronize my contacts thanks to the iCloud control panel. I use Outlook
2013 as my primary e-mail client.

The contacts are now under a folder in iCloud. I am unable to find an option
to send e-mail via these contacts. When I did not have the contacts
synchronized via iCloud, I was able to arrow to a contact, tab to the to
button and continue. What am I missing? How do I get my contacts in to the
regular contacts folder?

Limeade is good. Press twice to get flash light. Usally it turn on the
current automatically and voice over tells you iPhone is charging, but one
time when outdoor it did not. I checked the battery status, so it was not a
problem.

Including Backing-Up and Viewing SMS Messages

Hello Everyone,

One very popular app used on both Mac and Windows is called Disk Aide. This
app allows you, among other things, to +backup and view SMS Messages on your
desktop OS of choice.

The following is the latest message users of Disk Aide received from the
developers.

Mark

DiskAid 6.7 with App Management iOS 8 Support

DiskAid 6.7: App Backups!
Safely rescue space on your iOS device with the new DiskAid 6.7
This week's release of DiskAid 6.7 adds one of the most requested features:
the ability to backup individual iOS apps and their custom data and settings
to your Mac or PC!
Why is this kind of app management so cool? Because it means you can finally
delete apps you don't use frequently without that dreaded decision of
whether to lose your associated files and saved state.

For gamers, this is especially welcoming since it means valuable gigabytes
can be reclaimed without sacrificing the hours that have been invested
earning achievements and progressing through a game.

But really it's great for anyone who has ever thought they might need an app
again that they no longer use. With DiskAid 6.7, you can save the app and
its associated data as a single .ipa file, and restore it to your device as
it was before just as easily.

DiskAid 6.7 also adds a powerful new device cloning feature that allows you
to make an exact copy of one iOS device to another-no need for clumsy iTunes
backups and restores!

iOS 8 OS X 10.10

Last Monday at WWDC Apple previewed iOS 8 and we immediately went to work
testing its compatibility with DiskAid 6.7.

After only 5 days we are pretty happy to release DiskAid 6.7.1 already
supporting iOS 8!

We have also been testing DiskAid 6.7 on the beta version of OS X 10.10
Yosemite, also due out in October, and so far haven't yet encountered any
problems.

AltConf 2014 Apple's WWDC

DiskAid is super proud to be the Gold Sponsor of AltConf 2014, the free
alternative to Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) that took place
this week in San Francisco.

AltConf has being held at the Children's Creativity Museum right across the
street from WWDC and included a ton of interesting sessions and panels. You
can watch all replays on AltConf's Youtube Channel.

Hi Pranav,

I would definitely go with the Limefuel, it has a higher capacity and 4.6
out of 5 on Amazon which is excellent. The other pack you mentioned is only
11,500 MAH. Of course it depends on how many days you will be gone, will you
be camping and hiking for several days without any access to power? The
Limefuel batteries come in various capacities and they even make one larger
now at 24,000 MAH.

By the way, the highest peak in the Appalachians is Mount Mitchel at 6,684
feet or 2,037 metres. Not sure where you get the 12,500 feet of elevation
you mentioned, these sort of elevations you will only find in the Rockies.

Just a very general question really, are there any built in apps or even a
downloadable app that will allow you to use the IPhone 5s as a navigational
device, a bit like a sat nav in a car?
Ideally I would like it to be able to help me locate routes when walking or

Subject: Re: App switcher question

Hi, sorry for getting back late. Let me describe about the app switcher in
detail.
When the app switcher opens, the current home screen is reduced by half both in
the width and in the height, and is put in the first place.
All the apps in the app switcher are shown likewise; that is, each of them
shows its snapshot of its last screen image in half the original size.
App switcher, then, shows three small screenshots at a time. First one is
placed on the left but is shown only the right half, second one is placed in
the middle and is fully shown, and the third one is shown on the right but is
shown only the left half.

If you drag a little bit, the screenshots scroll smoothly and stops to show
three screenshots just as described above.
Also shown together with these half-size screenshots are their icons just below
them. You can just think of one icon below one screenshot, and thus there are
three icons shown below the current three screenshots. In fact, there are up to
five icons shown. One icon right below the middle screenshot in the middle, but
the icons for the left and the right screenshots are more closer to the middle
icon. This placement gives a little extra space to show two more icons to be
seen in each side. Just one fourth of the icon images are shown on the left and
on the right. Sighted persons would not touch these icons, but anyway if you
ever touch any of these icons or snapshots, the corresponding app opens.
However, to close the app from the app switcher, you need to pull upward the
snapshots instead of icons. One, two, or three snapshots can be pulled up at a
time. However, most people just seem to touch or drag one at a time not to make
it look complicated.
If VoiceOver is turned on, only snapshots can be focused one at a time, and
could become active again, or be closed.
Hope this can clarify about your understanding about the app switcher. Sorry
and please understand my poor description. :)

How do I Delete individual messages in IOS 7.1?

2014-04-13 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi all,

How do I delete individual messages from a message thread? For example, I
have a conversation consisting of 10 messages. I want to delete messages 4
and 7 from that thread. How do I do it? I tried the following.
1. Open the thread by double tapping.
2. Swipe to a message.
3. Flick up to more and activate that option.
4. Flick to the message I want to delete.
5. Double tap that message. Voice over tells me that the message is
selected.
6. I move to the delete all button.

When I hit that button, all the messages are deleted. I would expect that
only the marked messages would be deleted.

In earlier versions of IOS, this used to be the case. What has changed in
IOS 7.1?

Hello, no I don't know of any other apps but I know that the native mail
Apple do this kind of Innoway. So if you want me to hope you configure the
settings I can do that for you off list. All we need to do, is figure out
which which kind of account service your company uses whether they use

Hi group,

Not sure if anyone else has tried Numbers out recently, but I gave it
another spin last week. I was very surprised to find that it is much
more accessible now than the last time I had tried it out. Using the
Navigation setting in the router you can now navigate up and down the
rows in the columns. I also no longer had the pop-up menu showing up
all of the time, as it use to do. Selecting and editing cells is
possible now, though I had some issues doing so, but that may be only
due to not working with it much.

All-in-all it is a huge step forward in accessibility!

add address and double tap that. You can now enter the address details; tap
done when you have entered everything and you're all set.

Subject: accessible fitness tracker or iOS app for a stationary bike

Hello list,

So I’ve got a recumbent exercise bike and while a lot of the features aren’t
accessible to me, I use it fine through the manual quickstart setting and
adjust tention as I go. My sighted wife when she’s around will give me the
rundown on distance, heart rate and whatnot, but if she’s not around, then
I’m clueless as to what my progress is. The best I can do is use the stop
watch on my iPhone to measure my time.

In any event, I was wondering if anyone knew of a fitness tracking device
that will indeed work with stationary bikes or at least an app such as
i-treadmill for walking with the iPhone? I’ve poked around online, and from
what I’ve found, the FitBit forums aren’t very encouraging as to the
feasibility of trying out one of those devices with a stationary bike. Some
folks talk about clipping it on to their shoe and getting so-so results that
way, but I’m not convinced. That and the whole accessibility issue with the
device or its associated iPhone app.

I can’t recall fitness trackers being discussed too much on this list
either.

Anyway, I just thought I’d ask if anyone is using any sort of app on their
phone that can track stationary bike usage or of there is in fact an
accessible fitness tracker out there that could accomplish this.

Thanks,

Reading volt meters for fire alarm circuit using iPhone? was: RE: a challenge for all

2013-12-24 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi Jed,
Assuming that the meters are digital:
1. Please check if the equipment has a serial interface. If so, it is
possible to write a program for interpretting the sensor's output.

2. You should hire a programmer and get him to develop a program to read the
text of these meters. It is easy to do if the programmer knows image
processing. I doubt standard off-the-shelf OCR programs will work.

3. If you do want to try OCR, place the meters at a 90 degree angle from the
phone and then try using prizmo or Abbyy text grabber.

If the meters are analog, then you are probably out of luck.

Finally, please put a relevant subject line.

Transferring contacts from a Nokia N82 to an iPhone 5s while preserving labels

Hi all,
For those on the blindphones e-mail list, I have asked this before. I am

My iPhone is synchronized with my e-mail account at work. My employer uses

e-mail client that will duplicate those filters on the phone? The filters
move messages from various senders into different mail boxes.
