Windows 10 boot camp, it is solved.

2017-05-10 Thread Mário Gabriel

Okay, I already know what's going on with the drivers.
The 7, 8, and 8.1 packages have been updated to install drivers for
windows 10 boot camp.

And the boot camp app, was also updated to install windows 10.
Now the download during the boot camp installation process, works.

Thank you for trying to help me Joseph.

cheers.

Can anyone know if the drivers pack for windows 10 boot camp is not available

I tried to find this package, but the latest one is only for windows 7, 8, and

I prefer to download the drivers before the installation process.
Because in the installation process when arrives to download the software

I never get the download during the installation process.
How to download the drivers for windows 10 boot camp?
Or is it necessary to download the windows 10 drivers software

Is it now possible to download the drivers during the boot camp process in

Yes friend, I also had to always do this when I had iPhone 5S 16GB.
Face book is also terrible to consume data and battery.
Face book will never let us delete the data without having to uninstall
the app.
But now I'm more comfortable because I have iPhone 7 256gb, but I still
like to delete data of the apps that consume more data.

Deezer music, let us delete data.
Spotify does not.
Some of the apps most used by us, are already letting us delete data.
This is the right way.

Re: 10 ways the iPhone changed everything

2017-05-05 Thread Mário Gabriel

Hi
This is my opinion.
I prefer ten times more surfing the net with VO in IOS / safari, than
with jaws whether in internet explorer, firefox, or chrome.

The safari with VO, is much more stable and accessible.

I know there are things to be updated with VO in html content, but even
so it is much more accessible.

In my domestic tasks I have no special needs.
Even in my work, I use my iPhone, or iPad.
I'm a telephone operator, and my iPhone or iPad, they do the job ...
And most of the time, do the job better than on a pc.

This is not even mentioning the use of business software like

Back in early 2011 I went to work for an organization as an assistive technology

always heard that thing chattering away while she was walking around campus or in
her office. We rode home together on paratransit one day and I asked her if I could
check out her phone. She explained the basic VO gestures and I immediately began
exploring. When we dropped her off at her place I was convinced that I had to have
the iPhone 4. The following weekend I went to the AT&T store with my girlfriend
tagging along and I bought a phone for me and one for her. Since then I loaded it
up with all kinds of apps and am always on a quest for new apps to make life a bit
easier. Nowadays, after several phone upgrades I have the 256GB iPhone 7 with
roughly 200 apps for just about anything I'd want to do. I rarely use my laptop at
home for anything except heavy-duty word processing and Excel; my iPhone does the
rest. I still use the Braille Sense U2 for note-taking and leisure reading, and,
paired with the iPhone it's a nearly unbeatable combination. I use the iPhone for
e-mail, web browsing, shopping, online banking, scanning and reading printed
material on the fly when I'm out and about, object identification, GPS navigation,
listening to podcasts and music, calendar management, using social media and the
list goes on. Now, if I could only get the darn thing to cook my dinner and do the
laundry I'd be set. But even that is conceivable if appliances in my apartment
were set up with the right gizmos and gadgets and the iPhone could communicate with
them. I'm always quick to tell my students that the iPhone isn't the universal
panacea, the be-all end-all solution for making living with blindness easier, but
I'd say it's a pretty good start.

I used to be the braille and adaptive device instructor at a State Commission
for the Blind. When I heard about the first accessible iPhone, I started paying
attention to see if
they decided to make the iPod Touch accessible as at that time I had no
interest in a cell phone.

On November 20, 2009, I decided to go to the Apple store to check out the new
iPod Touch 3rd generation with VoiceOver.

I convinced the store to let me buy one with the understanding that if I decided it
wasn't right for our clients, or myself, that I could return it with no "restocking
fees."

Needless to say, I did not return it.

I convinced my manager that we should start teaching clients how to use it
since it already did more than many other blindness specific products and was
considerably
cheaper. I even bought an external GPS receiver/battery pack from Dual
Electronics and began using the Touch as an accessible GPS device.

Our office now supplies all the staff who have to travel with an iPhone in
place of the old Blackberries they used to use because of the built-in
accessibility.

I bought the iPhone 5s for myself when it came out as I finally decided having
a cell phone was a very good idea plus it meant I had a GPS system without a
bulky external
device.

I now do most things on my iPhone and my iPod Touch 6th generation.

Thank you Steve Jobs.

Hi, Everyone!

The iPhone has certainly made a huge difference in my life. My Apple experience
started back on February 6, 2012, when I walked into the Apple Store at the
West Farms
Mall in West Hartford, CT, and bought an iPod Touch. Because I had a very bad
experience with a touch-screen device before then that was meant for blind
people, I decided
to buy an iPod first in order for me to reacquaint myself with a touch screen.
Well, let me tell you. It didn't take me long to get used to the iPod Touch. I
was emailing the day
after I bought the device, and then the following November I took the plunge
and bought the iPhone 5. The rest is history.

I do almost everything on my phone and I absolutely love it.

It felt wonderful to walk into that Apple Store and buy the same thing that
everyone else buys rather than spending money to buy only adaptive products for
the blind.
Believe me, I'm not knocking these blindness-related devices and, in fact, they
are wonderful too, but it was so wonderful when I heard VoiceOver speak for the
first time in
the store when the salesperson activated it for me.

Anyway, that's my story about my Apple experience. I also switched from a Dell
computer over to an Apple MacBook Air.

Take care everyone!

This issue is also real on mac computers

I think I'll never know if it was the keyboard that broke or if it's

I did the tests.

And both tests presented this issue.

Re: IOS 10.3 is now public

2017-03-28 Thread Mário Gabriel

Yes, apple today released the beta 10.3.2

Às 18:53 de 28/03/2017, Sieghard Weitzel escreveu:

I’m sure there will be 10.3.x versions coming out, whether there will
be a 10.4 is anybody’s guess, but if the past is an indication then
10.3 will be the last single dot update.

iOS 9 also just went up to version 9.3, but it went all the way to
9.3.5 with that last update being released in late August, only a few
weeks before the public release of iOS 10.

Here is a look back with an article from Forbs regarding the bug in
iOS 9.3.4 and iOS 9.3.5 where Voiceover caused problems with dictation:

vNext week Apple will launch the iPhone 7 and with it the overhauled
iOS 10. But not every iPhone, iPad and iPod touch will get an upgrade
to iOS 10, and Apple has just admitted the final version of iOS 9 has
been left with a nasty surprise...

‘Great Features’ and ‘Nasty Surprises’ are my regular columns
investigating operating system updates for the best features / biggest
problems hidden behind

the headlines.

So what happened?

In short Apple has decided to leave iOS 9 with an unfixed bug that is
of minor inconvenience to many users, but which causes serious
problems for the visually impaired. The bug means use of VoiceOver
corrupts voice dictation causing words to be repeated and jumbled. It
is particularly bad in the Notification Center when quick replying to
messages.

Having been contacted by a number of visually impaired users, they
explained that the only workaround is hugely impractical. They have to
turn off VoiceOver (which removes all audio navigational aids) turn on
dictation, speak, turn off dictation (all without guidance) then turn
VoiceOver back on. For the visually

impaired VoiceOver is essential, but so too is voice dictation.

VoiceOver is crucial for visually impaired iPhone and iPad users, but
using it breaks voice dictation - an equally vital feature. Image
credit: Apple

For its part, Apple confirmed to me the bug is known but it was left
in iOS 9.3.4 and also in iOS 9.3.5 because it will be addressed in iOS
10 (and is

fixed in the latest public beta). The problem is the iPhone 4S, iPad
Mini, iPad 3rd gen and iPod touch 5th gen are not entitled to iOS 10
upgrades so the

bug will remain and there will be little choice but to upgrade to new
hardware.

As such I believe that if Apple knows how to fix the bug, and iOS 10
shows it does, then the company should fix the bug for this generation
of devices

which will be stranded on iOS 9. Technology has long had an obsession
with looking forwards (and the

iPhone’s future is very exciting) but in this case I would strongly
urge Apple to also respect the past.

I updated to ios 10 beta 7 the other day. For the heck of it I deleted
my beta profile and checked for a software update and it said I had
10.3 and had the latest update. Now I just made more work for myself
when the next betas start again.

As the subject says, iOS 10.3 is now “public”.

I guess last week’s public beta 7 is also the public release because I
was running the public beta and I don’t have an update today on my 6S
Plus. My wife who was on 10.2.1 with her 6S does have iOS 10.3 today.

Clifton,
I would not go so far as to give them so high a rating on accessibility.
I signed up through your link, and while it is good for accessibility,
they have some glaring problems.
1. the icon labels. They clearly used custom labels and were unaware
of VoiceOver when they did so.

Things like "m iccon video red stroke, or something like that.
2. The getting started PDF is not in text.
I ran it through KNFB Reader and it is readable, but something as
important as that should be fully accessible from the get go.
I just sent feedback to them about that with a copy of the pdf after
KNFB converted it.
The feedback link is another issue. It shows up even when you cannot
activate it. I had to go to the menu, several times to get back to a
place I could actually get the feedback form to show up.
Now, DropBox in its early days had accessibility issues too. So I hope
they clean up the iOS app.

I will start using them and see how it goes beyond my initial impression.
It does look quite useful beyond those issues.

Thanks for telling us about them.

As for your delete key issue, do you have a screen protector? Could it be
possible there is a small bubble or imperfection where the delete key is which
causes this behaviour? You may have already tried this, but sometimes even
cleaning the screen can improve how well touch works and while it's an obvious
thing and something everybody should do from time to time it is also easily

Subject: Two questions for those who are using iPhone 7.

Hi

For those who are using the iPhone 7.

1. Does the magnified display screen mode have any kind of benefit to VO?
Or these mode just have diffrence for sight people.

2. Are any of you having issues with the touch virtual keyboard with the delete
key?
The delete key on my iphone 7 does not work normally in most situations.

Or these mode just have diffrence for sight people.

2. Are any of you having issues with the touch virtual keyboard with the

The delete key on my iphone 7 does not work normally in most situations.
Most of the times, I have to give several taps to work.
And it is complicated to focus the VO cursor on the delete key.

Some tips?

One more thing Mario that I would like to recommend. I understand your

Mister Ed, you need to be so careful with your answers, because you
are showing that you didn’t read my emails, and you are just

About Sieghard, what I am saying that he always has showed a strong

to reduce the noise that people makes about the apple bugs. Again,
what he is doing is against the accessibility. Against apple, and
against himself. If we start to minimize the noise of people that is
complaining about the IOs bugs, it will not fix the problem. He said
that we need to complain to apple, and stop complaining in the list.
No, it is no positive for us. I said that we need to complain, here

attention to these problems. Obviously apple is no so worry about
fixing bugs, obviously apple has les interest fixing voice over bugs.
You and everybody here know that we have bunches of bugs in voice over
for years, and apple never fixed them. It shows lack of interest.

Why they have lack of interest?

Because we have people saying that all IOs have bugs, that don’t
worry, it is an isolated problem, that this and that. Reducing the
noise of people who is being affected for these bugs.

I think that Sieghard is doing good asking the people to write to
apple, he is doing good asking to complain directly to apple. But we
need to make these problems public in the list, we need to make these
problems visible to the whole community.

Hi Mario and Pablo,

Neither one of you are being discriminated on this group. This has
nothing to do with race of any kind. Sieghard was just pointing out
that all smart phones have their issues. He did not say Apple was the
best. He was just trying to say that all software’s have glitches. As
for Sieghard he is the first one to send an email to Apple support if
he finds an issue. He also advises everyone else if they have an issue
with Apple to contact tech support. That is all he meant by his
email. I think one issue you guys do not understand is to just contact
Apple when there is an issue and not to keep whining about it over and
over and over on the list. It’s ok to mention it and see if anyone
else is having the same issue. So get off your high horses and don’t
be throwing out the race card.

Hi Sieghard

I think that you haven’t read the whole threads in the last days. I
said so because you are replying this email without knowledge of why I
am posting this email. I recommend that you check about it in the last
2 days. Yes it is an IOs list, however it doesn’t mean that we cannot
say that apple is doing a bad job regarding software updates, and
specially fixing the problems that their software team are creating
each IOs update. Mario is right when he says that apple has to be more
responsible with their customers. I said something similar months ago,
when I complained about the usability of our phones and the time that
apple takes to fix bugs, and sometimes they just ignore the bugs and
release new IOs, with more bugs. Obviously Sieghard your attitude
shows a strong position in favor of apple, and you feel like ignoring
what is wrong. Your attitude is no helping the blind community, your
attitude defending apple when they are no fixing the bugs is going to
fix apple in the future. Your attitude is hurting the accessibility
and hurting apple too. You are defending a company that in the past
had a very good attitude with the software and with the bugs
unrepaired of software. You are defending them when they are no doing
a good job. I posted those links, no talking about android or
blackberry, those web pages are talking about the same point that we
have been talking in the list these las 2 days. Bugs, and bad quality
of software. The android developers are going to fix those problems?

No, you know that they are not going to do it. Apple is going to fix
this problems?

Obviously they are no putting a lot of interest fixing these problems,
they are more concern in the releases of new fancy IOs, than fixing
the bugs of those new fancy releases.

Who is going to fix these problems?

We, their customers. We need to call, we need to write, we need to do
a lot of noise because we are paying their checks with the products
that we are buying. It is how market works.

In the last emails I have said, several times that liking or not.
Voiceover is the best choice for us. I am not saying that android
accessibility is better, no I didn’t said that. Read those emails and
you will see what is my position about it. I am not saying that Mario
and many others are wrong, no. They are right, apple is no doing a
good job with the software. But it doesn’t mean that I am saying that
apple bs, as you said.

I don’t use that vocabulary, I am not accustomed to do that.

However, saying that apple is great, and keeping your attitude of just
highlight the good things, are not going to improve the quality of
apple software. Calling, writing, making noise is what is going to
improve the software quality. I rather to write, to call, to make
noise. I rather to complain to apple about their low quality. Because
I am living in The United States where I have the right to complain
about this kind of things when I paid for that. I am using my right.
More over this right improves quality and it is what apple and
customer’s needs. No just saying that whoever said something that you
don’t like about apple, are wrong.

Hi Pablo
very well said.
I completely agree with you.
If I were sighted, I would never use anything from apple.
Would certainly use android with the best phone in the world at the
moment. The galaxy S7.

But as I am total blind I have to use apple because of accessibility.
I hope soon google team and talkback will make me forget Apple completely.
cheers.

Again, I use iPhone no because I like apple policies, either because I like the

However, it is what I have right now. No more choices for me. So I have to buy
apple.

Hello Pablo,
Thanks for that. However, I guess I wanted to prove that you can keep things
on earlier versions, and you're not forced. It's a first generation air, so
should take the update fine. Yes, I have just been keep canceling, but
everyone can do that. So I'll say it again, apple tries, but is not forcing

Hi Pablo
Yes I know VO is still the best screen reader in the world for devices.
And that the apple platform is also the most accessible.

Yes, I prefer issues with accessibility than without accessibility.
Yes, I also know all the talkback issues on android, and everything else
you can talk about.
But all this does not take away my rights to want more and demand what
normal people demand ...

We can not stay all the time saying amen to all the good that apple has
done in the past and now it does bad in the present.

I have my rights and always fight for them.
And my rights have to be respected by apple as well as apple respects
the rights of normal people.

Apple has to work for me as an obligation and respect as a duty.
Apple can not think that it works for me as if it were doing me a favor.
I paid a small fortune to have a phone, and because Apple says on their
official accessibility website that their devices are 100 percent
accessible and can be used with total satisfaction.

And this is not true.
The issues of accessibility have to have the same commitment that apple
has with normal people.

I am being discriminated and I have to fight for my rights.
And that's what we should all do.
cheers.

Yes apple forces us to do the update.
Sooner or later we have to do it.

that the IOs x is ready to be install.

So, if it is no forcing, looks very similar.

standard mail.
I continually give Apple feedback on things that need fixing or

Apple has today released iOS 10.2 to the public.

For blind and low vision users, our limited testing suggests that
Apple has made continued progress towards addressing the
accessibility bugs present in iOS 10
<http://www.applevis.com/bugs/ios/active>. However, despite this
progress, our testing also suggests that a number of accessibility
bugs have been introduced in this release—one of which we believe to
be potentially critical for those who use the Focus line of braille
displays. Thus, if you have not already updated your device to iOS
10.2, we strongly recommend that you read this post and any comments
below before doing so.

As we always stress in these posts, it is impossible for us to test
all devices, apps, and use cases. With this and the fact that the
first version of iOS 10 introduced a number of bugs which were not
common to all users and use cases, it is very likely that there are
changes, regressions or improvements that we are not aware of at the
time of posting. With this in mind, we would greatly appreciate your
help in ensuring that the information on this page is as complete and
accurate as possible. If you spot any accessibility-related changes
in iOS 10.2, please do let us know in the comments.

Accessibility Bugs Introduced in iOS 10.2

  * Users of the Freedom Scientific Focus line of braille displays
may experience issues pairing their display with devices running
iOS 10.2. The information we have available to us suggests that
this issue primarily affects users who attempt to re-pair a Focus
display which has previously been un-paired from the same iOS
device, although in our testing it was also impossible to pair a
Focus display for the first time when running iOS 10.2. It is our
understanding that Focus displays paired before updating to iOS
10.2 should continue to work correctly. This issue was apparently
discovered very late in the beta cycle, and Apple has assured us
that a fix is in the works and will be released in the near
future. In the meantime, we recommend that you do not upgrade to
iOS 10.2 if you use a Focus braille display and have a use case
which may require you to un-pair and re-pair the display, or if
you may need to pair a Focus display for the first time before
Apple releases a fix. At the time of posting, we believe that the
Focus line of displays are the only displays affected by this
issue; in addition to the Focus 14 Blue and Focus 40 Blue, the
models we were able to test under iOS 10.2 include the Braille
Edge, Braille Sense, Refreshabraille, VarioUltra, and Brailliant.
  * When opening a message in the Mail app, VoiceOver focus is no
longer automatically placed in the body of the message. To find
the body of the message, the user must either swipe or explore by
touch. It is our understanding that this change is not by design,
and that we should expect to see this revert back to the previous
behavior in a future iOS release.
  * The VoiceOver rotor no longer consistently switches to the
'Actions' rotor item when VoiceOver focus lands on an element
which has actions available.
  * In certain situations, VoiceOver will randomly speak the contents
of previous notifications which do not appear onscreen visually.
This issue does not occur consistently, and the notifications are
no longer spoken once speech is stopped or focus is moved to
another element.

Accessibility Bugs Fixed in iOS 10.2

  * It is once again possible to navigate by character when in a text
field on a web page.
  * Enhanced Quality voices no longer occasionally revert to their
compact variants.

with VoiceOver in all use cases.

Yes, It as you say.
Apple sucks a lot on fixes to VO.
The most Important and serious VO bugs, apple never solves them.
Today came out at 10.2 release and the list of 12 bugs fixed is a shame.
And now with 4 more new bugs.

Cheers.

I was just on the phone with Apple Accessibility yesterday to talk with them

iDevice with the sync selected artists, albums, and playlists method. The issue
is that no screen reader I've tried (the latest version of NVDA, JAWS 17, and
even Narrator) on my Windows 10 machine will read anything in these lists. I
haven't yet tried (I think it was Marc's suggestion) of using the refresh
screen feature of JAWS to try to get things reading with it. NVDA's text and
object review commands don't make it possible to read anything, either. The
reason I haven't yet tried JAWS 18 is that I only recently received my SMA
update to version 18, and I haven't yet had a chance to install it. I'll report
back with more news when I've installed JAWS 18 and tried the screen refresh
command. By the way, I did all the tests of the screen readers mentioned above
when the rep was on the phone with me. He said that the issue was with
Microsoft. I specifically asked him if anything had changed in the latest
versions of iTunes 12 in terms of the way they programed those lists (after
all, the lists of the column browser work fine in the main music library) and
he said that as far as he knew, nothing had changed except the way things were
arranged in the program, not the underlying structure of the way things were
made in the program,. I told him it'd be interesting to see if blind users of
the latest iTunes and Windows 7 were haveing the same issues. A friend of mine
is running Windows 8 or 8.1. I'll have to check if she's having the same issues
I'm having. She's also running NVDA. I want to see if this is really a
Microsoft issues with not presenting things well in Windows 10 to any screen
readers' or if the issue is with iTunes.

Lol the Apple Accessibility rep had the idea that all Windows screen readers were rather
limited, and could only perform the "basics," as he put it. I couldn't let that
slide, and set him straight on that. I must say, he was rather surprised. I wonder if
that was just his Mac bias or Apple propaganda talking. Either way, he needed to know
that not only were Windows screen readers very capable, but that I was a capable user of
two of them, so that he knew I wasn't just spouting Windows screen readers are better
than VoiceOver on Mac.

Anyway, just thought I'd tell you all about the issues I'm having, and that I
spoke to Apple about them, and that I'm going to do some testing. It'd be
really useful if people running Windows 7 and the latest version of iTunes 12
could see if they're having the same issues I am' so I i can keep a useful
dialogue going with Apple, and possibly start one with Microsoft. Sorry if any
of this has been a bit nonsensicle; it's rather early here, and I'm not
propperly awake yet. I just wanted to get this in before I forgot any of it.

Thanks,
Ari

Hi!

Subject:

Voice Over Bug In Edit Fields On Web Pages

Beginning of message:

Hello!

Since iOS 10.1 upgrade Voice Over users are experiencing accessibility
issues while navigating through text entered in edit fields on web
pages. It seems Voice Over can't read or move by characters from the
beginning of text forward and it stucks after second character.

When going backwards from the end of the text everything seem to work
correctly. It is also confirmed this issue occures in Safari for iOS
as well as Firefox and Chrome browsers.

Steps to reproduce the bug:

1. With Voice Over on open any web page with the edit field;

2. Enter the phrase "today is a beautiful day" in the field;

3. Double tap to get to the beginning of the text entered;

4. Switch the Rotor to the Characters option;

5. Try to flick down for reading forward character by character;

In some cases, depending on web page you're currently browsing you
won't hear anything while in other cases You won't get further than
first twocharacters typed. For example, search field on www.amazon.com
is completely silent while search field on www.bookshare.org reads
first two characters.

This is a very serious issue for Voice Over users. Browsing the web is
everybodys daily routine including blind or partially sighted users
and fixing this in the next iOS 10 update is crucial for Voice Over
users to be able to use their iDevices completely.

Thanks and take care!

End of message.

resigned myself to the wait only to get a text message the next day that
my Apple Watch has shipped from China and I will get it next Wednesday,

This ticked me off a bit since I have been in Calgary for over a week

I also must say that any band Apple sells is a total and complete
rip-off. I really wanted the Milanese Loop stainless steel band, but at
a $150 CAD premium over the default configuration with the Sports Band I
just can’t justify this and I will order a third-party Milanese Loop
band on Amazon or other website. I think it’s even more of a rip-off
that you can’t even select the larger band that comes with the 42mm
watch when you buy the 38mm watch. Once you select the size the band is
selected and can’t be changed. I tried on a 38mm watch at the Apple
Store and while my wrists aren’t huge, the smaller band barely is big
enough and even at it’s widest setting is pretty tight. Why on earth
doesn’t Apple just let you pick the watch you want in whichever
material, colour and size and then let you add the size band you need.
I’m not a Mac user, but I’m quite a fan of the iPhone, Apple TV and I
will probably love the watch, but this stinginess from the richest
company in the world is enough to make even an Apple fan get a bit mad.

If you think about how the most expensive band Apple offers is $599
Canadian which is more than what the Apple Watch Sport costs you really
just have to shake your head.

I went in to storage just a bit ago. I noticed when I got in to manage
storage, that I only have a little over a gig left on my phone. I don't
understand why this is. I don't have a lot of apps, and the ones I do
have are small in size. I have maybe 30 photos on my phone. Some of
which I would like to delete, but of course I will need sighted assistence.

I know that this had to happen recently, because just about a week, or 2

happened to me, because last night a good friend of mine was telling me

So what the heck could be going on?

And how can I fix it?

I removed a couple of apps I rarely use. But of course, that didn't make
much of a difference.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri
