Hi, one other app to consider is Dropvox. Note the V instead of the B. This is a recording app which saves your recordings in your Dropbox folder. It is a bit more Voice Over friendly, but doesn't have the flexibility in recording qualities as Voxie does. Speaking of Voxie? $6.99? When I got it a couple of years back it was $2.99. Let me check the link to make sure it's the right one. OK, found it for $4.99 plus tax of course. The link is below. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/voxie-pro-recorder/id294895817?mt=8 Oh, and I went ahead and checked on Dropvox, and its link follows. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dropvox-record-voice-memos/id416288287?mt=8 -- Raul A. Hi Keith, No I don't think there is a practical limit to the number of sub folders you can create in List Recorder. I have many lists that drill down very deep with no problems. Do ListRecorder files backup with an iTunes synch? If not, how does one best backup files from ListRecorder? -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Eric Caron Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 5:35 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Accessible digital voice recorder aps Hi Julie, I would put in another recommendation for you to consider List Recorder. It is designed completely with the Voice Over user in mind so it has ways of controlling recording and play back in several ways including motions and gestures so you don't need to listen for buttons to stop a recording for example. Also, it is very powerful with regard to easy organization of recordings. It is a app with a lot of capabilities and most of us are not using it to it's full potential. I have Voxie Pro but other then making a quick recording I don't find it useful. I instead use list Recorder to store all kinds of recorded information all organized neatly into list and sub lists. So weather I'm looking for my shopping list, the audio description of my complicated stereo, or a recipe . I can easily find things or add the next recording to a list. Re: Accessible digital voice recorder aps
The built-in Voice Memos app isn't bad, but I don't like that I have to sync it with iTunes to get my longer memos off the phone. Also, I had some problems with it duplicating memos. After a while, I got totally fed up with the whole issue and purchased Dropvox. It's a great little app! I do wish they would implement a upload only over wifi feature. It's supposedly in the pipeline for a future update, but who knows when that's coming out? They're also supposed to be adding quality settings, too, which I will appreciate. Other than those few things, I really like the app. On Sep 16, 2013, at 9:13 AM, "Julie Acton" wrote: > Thanks Raul, this is really helpful. Thanks Raul, this is really helpful. Yes, while it makes intuitive sense that developers would want to prevent VO chatter from contaminating a recording (and as a user, it is damn beneficial to the end product), it also makes for a very anxious and mysterious user experience, particularly for a relative clutz like me who isn't very intuitive about where the important buttons like "stop" might be hiding in the silence. Voxie sounds like it's found some clever ways of dealing with this though, so I'll give it a go. I see it costs $6, so I hope it's a good investment! Still open for competition though... Hi, the reason VO goes seemingly silent is because it helps prevent from it speaking on your recordings. The trouble is that if you don't know where on the screen the stop button is, that can be a bit disconcerting and leave you out at sea with no paddles. Or so it feels that way. So, here is what I recommend. Voxie Pro by Bottle Rocket. This also makes VO go totally quiet, but if you record in express mode, you can shake phone to start and shake once again to stop. Plus a tone is played when it starts and stops recording. Plus, if the shaking isn't working, or you don't want to do that, there is only one button in the middle of the screen, so if VO is silent because it's recording, just touch the middle of the screen once, then double tap like a normal button and the recording will stop. Voxie has the ability to record in 16Khz, 22Khz and 44Khz to make the quality from lowest to highest. You can save the recordings to your computer via iTunes file sharing or via the built-in web browser and get them from your pc browser that way.
