Re: Headphone recommendations, please

2023-08-18 Thread Amy Ruell
Thanks for the clarifying questions. I definitely want something over the head
or ear. Noise cancellation is an important factor for both sets of head phones
for which I am seeking recommendations. Wireless headphones would be strongly
preferred.

As I indicated in my original post, looking for two kindss of headphones. The
first is a simple set of high-quality headphones that will work with the Victor
stream reader, three and a PC, no microphone necessary. The second is a pair of
good quality, audio headphones with excellent microphone quality that can be
used for audio output and good sound when connected to an iPhone 14 pro or a
Windows PC for team meetings and conferences.

RE: Headphone recommendations, please

2023-08-18 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Yes, do you have more things you're looking for in addition to price points? Do
you care about the form factor, over the head, open ear, ...? What about
passive or active noise cancellation? I assume you're looking for wireless
headphones.

>> I am looking for two types of no earbuds please. The first is a set of
>> headphones without a microphone that can be used with the victor reader
>> stream or a PC. No microphone necessary.

As already mentioned I like the Shokz, and the Open Moves are around $80 US.
They're bone conduction so nothing in your ears to block sound. Those are the
headphones I use very day around the house. They do have a microphone though.
Although the audio is good, it won't be acceptable to an audiophile.

>> The second kind of headphones I am looking for is an excellent set that I
>> could connect either to my phone or to a computer to improve my audio output.

Does this mean you want a microphone with these headphones?

The headphones I use with my PC are a pair wired USB Plantronics. Since I don't
use these with my iPhone, I'm assuming this isn't what you're looking for.

The Bluetooth headphones I use with my iPhone with the best audio and noise
cancellation are a pair of Sony headphones. They have big padded ear pads that
surround the entire ear and provide a lot of passive noise cancelation. The
audio is excellent. I bust these out when I'm listening to music or a movie. I
got my pair on a really great sale for an older model. They're in the MBR line,
but I know the model I have has been replaced with newer models.

If you have more information on what your looking for then I'm sure you'll get
a lot more suggestions.

Importance: High

if you are looking for good audio, I wouldn't recommend these. to be fair, they
are good for being able to have your cake and eat it, as because they are bone
conduction ones, you can still use your ears for hearing other things around
you, but it is like the old saying, "jack of all trades, master of none".
for really good audio, my choice would be the bowers and wilkins PX9headphones.
I use the wired ones, and you can have an iPhone, or standard 3.5 cable, but I
believe there is also a wireless version of them available now also.

Re: Headphone recommendations, please

2023-08-18 Thread Michael McKay
Greetings Amy, and list members:

I find for my own use and best results so far the use of the Aftershokz
wireless Bluetooth headset seems to be the best for me. I can answer calls, and
dictate text messages through the headset.

Simply go online to The website aftershokz.com, and there may be at
aftershokz.ca for Canadiens I have gone through two of their wireless bone
conduction Bluetooth headsets and I’m on the second set now. Hope this helps
please let me know.

All the best!

Headphone recommendations, please

2023-08-18 Thread Amy Ruell
Hello,
I am looking for two types of no earbuds please. The first is a set of
headphones without a microphone that can be used with the victor reader stream
or a PC. No microphone necessary.
The second kind of headphones I am looking for is an excellent set that I could
connect either to my phone or to a computer to improve my audio output. Thanks
very much for any assistance.
Amy.

Re: Headphone Recommendations

2017-03-29 Thread Kelly Pierce
for those wanting specifics, I bought the Velodyne vQuiet Over-Ear
Noise Cancelling Headphones from Newegg in May. I bought two pairs
and used each for about three or four months before they were junk. I
chose them because of the price. I hope everyone can find another
deal like this.

I tend to agree, so I generally prefer my Aftershokz or my wire ear buds
with no noise cancellation. I even have a old pair of Koss headphones
which go over the ear but are open on the sides so as not to interfere
with neighboring sound.

When I went into Bose, I was looking for a pair of bluetooth earbuds
with no noise cancellation. I didn't find any and haven't really found
any at all, except for maybe the Apple airpods, which I haven't checked
out yet.

That being said, I can definitely see a use case for good noise
canceling headphones. I use them myself when I'm trying to listen to
something and the vacuum cleaner is running, or I'm on a plane or in a
car with a lot of back ground noise. I'll also just pull them out when I
want to listen to some good music without minimal interruptions.

Bose has some pretty amazing noise canceling technology. I don't have a
pair of Bose headphones, but I'm fortunate enough to have a Bose outlet

It depends what you want to spend on them. I usually go to Ben's bargains and
find my headphones there. currently, I am using $300 headphones that I bought
for $30.

these cool headphones, and people have commented on how cool they look, cup
entirely over the ear and muffle out all noises. electronic noise cancellation
filters out many other external sounds. It is so good that I can be in a
subway tunnel here in Chicago and 15 feet away from the train and not be
interrupted in listening to my audio book or podcast. I barely hear the eight

Re: Headphone Recommendations

2017-03-27 Thread Kelly Pierce
It depends what you want to spend on them. I usually go to Ben's
bargains and find my headphones there. currently, I am using $300
headphones that I bought for $30.

these cool headphones, and people have commented on how cool they
look, cup entirely over the ear and muffle out all noises. electronic
noise cancellation filters out many other external sounds. It is so
good that I can be in a subway tunnel here in Chicago and 15 feet away
from the train and not be interrupted in listening to my audio book or
podcast. I barely hear the eight car train in front of me with
hundreds of people on board.

Headphone Recommendations

2017-03-26 Thread Dan Rathburn

Hello,

I'm looking for recommendations for some noise cancelling headphones to use
with my iPhone 6 plus. I'm particularly intrested in headphones that do
well in dealing with intermittent noises such as dogs barking, car horns and
such. I've never used so I don't know what kind of results to expect.

Thanks,

Dan

The nice thing about science is that it's true whether you believe in it or
not.

outside surround sound system Porten, are cheap Bluetooth headphones but only
cover one ear. The Samsung HM 1900 are a good example. So is the Plantronics M

  Hi,

When I want to listen to music, the Boes type is great but, I wouldn’t wear
those while walking on the street. If I want to walk around, hear my gps and,
at the same time, be able to read my traffic, then the bone conduction is the
greatest. The Bluiz 2 has much better base but it still is far from being a
good music headset.

The two are totally different. Boes are for good sound and, depending on the
model, noise isolation. Aftershokz are bone conduction, meaning that they don't
sound as good but also don't block your ears at all. It is a bit like asking if
you should get a white cane or a guide dog. Both have their good and bad
points, and both approach their intended function in very different ways.

If you can explain what you'll be doing with the headphones, we can provide
more helpful ideas. For instance, the Aftershokz are great for walking around
outside, since you can hear ambience, but not so great for privacy or blocking
out other sounds. Boes headphones sound much better with music, but will
probably be bulkier and block more noise.

If you don’t have any ear problems like tinnitus et cetera, the Bose Quite
Comfort In Ear is really comfortable. With a ear problem, you may feel an
increase in ear problem when using the noice cancellation like i did. I use
them with noice cancellation turned off for voice calls and GPS(only one in the
ear). Expensive and good. Would not buy them today if i knew the increase of
tinnitus caused by the sound noice cancellation sends in your ears, Wired. The
noice cancellation is really good though. Have no problem with noice
cancellation on the wired beats over the ear headphones, but Alex sounds
strange. The Norwegian voice sounds very good. The Beats noice cancellation is
not as good as Bose though. Voice Over is better on Bose than Beats even
without noice Cancellation.

If your ears can tolearte the noice cancellation sound Bose Quite Comfort In
Ear uses to tone down outside noice, i guess theese ar the perfect wired today.

Beats may be better soon with wired lightning cable from the lightning port on
iPhone into the over the ear headphones. Don’t know when they ships.

Take care

They are on ear. The flat ribbon inns in slightly raised square phone covers
that lay against the outside of your ear. They do not block outside noise too
much.

These are very good sounding for music and voice. TheSylvania SBT214-Black on
Amazon, $19.

Picture along, flat ribbon about2 inches wide with headphone cushions on either
end. Now bend that into a shape to go over your head. It is kind of like the
hairbands girls might wear. The disadvantage to this is they do not bend, so
are not great for carrying around in a bag, as if bent too much they can break.
Also, you can adjust the fit some by extending the headphone ends, but if you
have a much larger or smaller head than usual, you can't do a lot about it.

But, for $20 they are great! Especially for the purpose you indicate, I would
recommend giving them a look. Don't let the price fool you.

Eric

RE: bluetooth headphone recommendations? boes or after shok's?

2014-12-16 Thread Cristóbal
They’re great for when on the stationary bike or elyptical and general usage
around the house. I’m on the phone all day and I find them very convenient to
be able to walk around without having my ears plugged up or otherwise
obstructed. I still use my trusty Plantronics M50 ear piece when out and about
since I’m usually with my wife and she’s not too impressed with their trecky
look. That and they’re not terribly comfortable.

If you’re an audiophile or are more interested in music listening, then you’re
probably going to want to look at something else, but for phone calls and
spacial awareness and music/audiobook listening in general, they’re fine.

Just my opinion, but the Aftershox were not the greatest for music. When
listening to a whole lot of Voiceover, I found my head started to tingle.
Therefore, they only seemed to be of any value for navigation, and seem to be a
pricey option for such limited use.

Jennie, I am in total agreement with you. I have the Bose and love the head
set for answering calls, but, as far as Siri and dictation, you can't beat the
wired headphones. I love the apple ear buds for dictation and Siri. They are
even great for answering calls, but, there are times that I need wireless, and
the Bose head set is awesome for phone calls. There is really no perfect set
for everything.

Sieghard,

I hope I didn't misspell your name. You are definitely right about the wired
headphones versus wireless. I bought the bose, which I love by the way, and
siri doesn't work worth a crap with them. I also bought a pair of Beats, which

If you have to have wireles, Bose would be the better choice if you want music

RE: bluetooth headphone recommendations? boes or after shok's?

2014-12-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
No matter which bluetooth headset you buy, all are inferior to even an
inexpensive wired headset like the Apple earpods. If you really want wireless
than of course you sacrifice quality over the convenience of wireless, but I
doubt you would get good results with dictation and all that with the
Aftershokz. I have an expensive Jabra and have had other high-end bluetooth ear
pieces and always found dictation nd SIRI were a lot more reliable with my
Apple earpods.

Sieghard

True. The microphones are good for phone calls, but Siri and dictation both
don't work very well with them. For heavy dictation, you'll want something
different.

Hi,

When I want to listen to music, the Boes type is great but, I wouldn’t wear
those while walking on the street. If I want to walk around, hear my gps and,
at the same time, be able to read my traffic, then the bone conduction is the

The two are totally different. Boes are for good sound and, depending on the
model, noise isolation. Aftershokz are bone conduction, meaning that they don't
sound as good but also don't block your ears at all. It is a bit like asking if

I tried the Aftershokz but it felt like I had a vice on my head. Granted, I
have a large head. I take a very large hat size. So, if you have a larger head,
you may find the Aftershokz extremely uncomfortable. The good thing is, they
will give you a refund if you return them in less than 30 days.
If you also listen to music with headphones, the bowes might be the way to go.
I don't have their bluetooth headphones, but I have their over the ear wired
headphones, and the sound is great!
I'm sure there are good bluetooth headphones out there that cost less.
You did not say if you wanted stereo, or if one ear would do.
Good luck,

Re: Bluetooth headphone recommendations?

2013-12-17 Thread Feliciano G
Hey there,
I personally purchased these Audio Technica M50 head phones from guitar
center with their 2-year insurance for $230 and they’re awesome! These guys
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_35451_Audio-Technica-ATH-M50.html currently
have them out of stock, but I’m sure you can find some other online store that
sells them at a lower cost. If you have any questions, you can email me at

Subject: Bluetooth headphone recommendations?

I'm looking for some cans with good sound for about 100 bucks. I don't
necessarily need a headset, but if that's included, so much the better. I
prefer over the ear cups, but comfortable on ear could do the job too. Any hot
sugtgestions?
