Problem With Siri

2021-09-27 Thread Tali Sarnetzky
Hi everyone.

I have a friend in Australia who has been trying to get Siri to read
him missed calls for a few days now, only to be told this service is
unavailable right now and to try later. I have never used this feature
myself, so I did not know it was possible, but he says he has used it
often for a long time. He hasn't updated to IOS 15 yet, so we are not
sure what the problem might be.

Any advice would be very very appreciated.

Thanks,

Tali

Problem with Siri

2021-10-25 Thread CHELA Robles
Hello everybody I hope you are doing well and I hope this email gets through to
you. I am having some issues with Siri in regards to when I invoke Siri and
tell Siri to launch apps siri’s response is the following: I'm still having
problems with the connection."
Anybody getting this?
I am on iOS 15.1 and I have reset all my network settings and everything else
seems to work very well except for Siri and all day this has been happening
even when I tell Siri to do something it still says the above message that it
has issues with the connection. Am I missing something? I have an iPhone 8 plus
if that tells you guys anything. When I tell it to launch Facebook for example
that’s when I hit the same response and also when I tell seri to open mail. I
can assure you that my home network is a very strong solid connection and if
everything else works fine Siri should work fine but Siri is not working fine
but everything else works fine so I guess I’m gonna have to do things manually
now. Either that or Siri is broken in my phone.

Problem With Siri

2020-09-24 Thread Shirley Baker
I have the 6S plus iPhone. Whenever I press the home button to talk to Siri,
she responds by saying making a FaceTime call to, and mentions a name and does
not respond to whatever I'm asking. I turned FaceTime off in notifications.
What do I need to do to change this? I have hey Siri turned on the watch but
not on my phone. Would that make any difference?

A problem with Siri

2012-10-24 Thread Dan
Hello list,
After updating to iOS6, I have been having a strange problem with Siri.
Prior to the upgrade, I was able to tell Siri to call a particular number, for
example, "call 611" and Siri would do it for me.
Now, however, when I attempt to ask Siri to call a number it always says,
"Sorry Dan, I'm not permitted to do that for you."
No matter what number I ask it to call. The only thing that Apple support told
me was to restore to factory condition and that makes no difference either.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I might correct this problem?

TIA.

Hi Tali and all, it might be a servers issue. Apple change things on Siri in
the level of the device and the servers. It could be the problem.

Why not just go to the Phone App, tap on the Recent Calls tab and then near the
top you can select either "All" or "Missed". By default All is selected, double
tap on Missed and all your missed calls are displayed.

hank you both for your replies.
Liel, You might be right.
Siegert, I totally agree with you, but each person does things their
own way, I suppose.

I also received a suggestion to call Apple accessibility and I think
this is what I will suggest to my friend.

Thank you all again.

Have a great day,

Subject: Problem with Siri

RE: Problem with Siri

2021-10-26 Thread Carolyn
The problem I have with Siri is when I ask her directions to somewhere, Siri
will give directions out of the apartment and destination estimation, but is
like she's waiting for me to drive for the next part of the directions. Is
there a way to get Siri to just give me the directions so that I would know the
best way without riding in a vehicle?

It just says it cannot help me with that.

RE: Problem with Siri

2021-10-26 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I never tried it before, I have battery on my Infograph screen and set to auto
speak so I always hear what it is when I wake up my watch. But if it did this
before I would report it to Apple.

Well, on my Apple Watch series 6 after updating to WatchOS 8.1 it no longer can
tell me the battery level.
It just says it cannot help me with that.
A definite step backward.

seems to work very well except for Siri and all day this has been happening
even when I tell Siri to do something it still says the above message that it
has issues with the connection.

What happens if you forget the Echo device?

This is probably just a stupid Siri problem that will take a lot of
documentation and work to get Apple’s attention.

Richard I have not connected my Echo Dot to the iPhone ever. The only things
that are connected on my Bluetooth speaker that is an offbrand small speaker
which is off and when in use, my Bose frames tempo. And I seem to be having
this issue with just the Bose frames tempo and the weird thing is that when I
don’t use my Bose frames tempo, Siri acts normal so I had to take Bluetooth off
or disconnect my devices to the Bluetooth which was basically what I did with
regards to the Bose frames. Then what I did was I invoked Siri and was able to
successfully change my current doctor appointment well not connected to
Bluetooth devices.

Hi,

In my experience Siri didn't allow me to call short numbers like 611. The
moment I gave it full numbers with area code it worked without a problem. Are
you having problems calling full numbers also?

Hope you can clear this up.

All the best,

Ioana

Re: A problem with Siri

2012-10-26 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi Ioana and others, I've done some Googling and have found that
apparently Siri isn't capable of dialing 3 digit codes. So, if you tell
it to dial 411, 611, or 911, it will not. Some people say that if you
add 411 and 611 to your contacts then it will, but I haven't done this
to confirm. The below link gives some more information and might be of
use to some.

Hope you can clear this up.

Re: A problem with Siri

2012-10-26 Thread Dan
Hello to all who responded to my Siri problem. It is now corrected.
Even though I did a complete restore of my iPhone using Recovery Mode, the
problem still existed.
So, I took things a little further.
1. I reinstalled the OS from scratch and ran the phone as a new phone.
The problem went away.
2. I then restored the phone and ran the backup from icloud. The problem came
back.
So, I removed everything from my iCloud account and I do mean everything.
3. I then restored the phone as a new phone, manually put all the info back in
place and the problem is now gone. When I discussed this with Apple support,
they didn't say any thing about 3 digit numbers.
So, in conclusion, I can now call numbers just fine but not those 3 digit
numbers.
Thanks guys for pointing this out, I sure appreciate it.
Oh yes, one other thing, I also disabled Siri for a few hours and then re
activated it. I am now also getting much better response while dictating or
looking up stuff.
So, that's the end of this little story.
Hope this helps someone else if they are having similar problems.

Problem with Siri and Sending Messages

2020-07-08 Thread Vivian Conger
Hi,

I know this has been covered on the list some time back but as I didn't have
any issues until yesterday, I read the messages but didn't commit the fix to
my memory.

When I press the Home button and ask Siri to send a message to anyone, she
says sorry there is a problem. Try later. When I ask Siri other things like
the temperature or time or whatever there is no issue.

This is different than what happens sometimes when a connection cannot be
made even though I have 2 out of 4 bars for cell and 3 out of 3 bars for my
wifi.

I have turned Siri off and back on twice in Settings and rebooted my phone.
Still the problem occurs.

I am using an iPhone 7 with IOS 13.5.1.

The only other thing I can think of is to try a soft reset but can't
remember how that is done. Or will this need a hard reset through Settings?

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Problem with Siri and Sending Messages

2020-07-08 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Vivian,
Try this for a soft reset:
Quickly press and release the volume up button, then the volume down button,
and then press and hold the power/side switch for about 10 seconds, you'll hear
tap to power off, but ignore that and keep holding the power button in.
If you have earphones in, you may hear a subtle click sound at which time you
can release the button.
Otherwise, hold for about 10 seconds before releasing it.
Then, wait a couple of minutes and see if the phone restarts.
If it doesn't, just plug it in and in a minute it should power up.
If that doesn't solve it, then it's time to call Apple Accessibility.

This happens to me occasionally also. Don’t know what causes it, but seems to
be a Siri issue, not a network problem.

RE: Problem with Siri and Sending Messages

2020-07-09 Thread Carolyn
Oh, do I ever feel for you ding a reset. I am just leaving my emails without
getting notifications, since Apple Accessibility, lists, and I have been unable
to make me get notifications or even show on the icon whether or not I have
them. I'd rather just check than go through a reset.

Perplexing problem with Siri on Jailbroken iPhone 5

2013-02-23 Thread Scott Van Gorp
Good evening List:

As the subject says, I'm having an issue on my jailbroken iPhone 5 now
running iOS 6.1.2. The problem started a couple of days ago when I was
still running 6.1.1, I noticed that siri was not opening apps when I would
tell it to. She just kept saying "I don't see you have an app named
facebook" for example, when I do. No matter what app I would try to launch,
it wouldn't happen. Anyway, I went to iTunes 11 to do a restore, and it was
going to upgrade the iOS, which is fine since I saw there was an update to
the jb. Everything went fine this morning, but when I went to work, the
problem started again. I first thought it had something to do with LTE vs.
WiFi, so I didn't worry about it until I got home. Now I've turned siri
off, restarted the phone, and turned it back on with no success. Any ideas
on what is causing this odd behavior? It was working fine as late as
Wednesday on the old configuration, and the only thing I changed in the jb
since then was adding software update killer and reset all killer. Any help
would be appreciated. I would restore it again, but I'm afraid I'd have the
same problem once I'm away from home. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Well, I guess it's time to rebuild it again and go tweak by tweak. The only
thing I've done is the two tweaks I mentioned and the Star Trek Voyager
theme. Hmmm.

RE: Perplexing problem with Siri on Jailbroken iPhone 5

2013-02-23 Thread Scott Van Gorp
Ok, I have restored the phone, set up the jb again, and even taken my
network offline to see if I can duplicate the problem again. So far so
good. We'll see what happens when I leave for work on Monday!

Well, I guess it's time to rebuild it again and go tweak by tweak. The only
thing I've done is the two tweaks I mentioned and the Star Trek Voyager
theme. Hmmm.

Hello, sounds to me like you have a tweet that is causing this problem, I am
Joe broken on iOS 6.1.2, and I can tell Siri to launch apps with no problem.

Problem with Siri and raised to speak with new version of software

2013-09-29 Thread Kerri Stovall
Good afternoon everyone,
My apologies if this post has already been sent before, but I just have a quick
question. I just updated my iPhone to version seven, and I noticed a problem
with Siri when I use it with the race to speak function. Sometimes it doesn't
seem to want to listen as it should, but at other times it will go ahead and
listen, but after it dings, there is no response. When I lower the phone away
from my face and touch the screen, I noticed that it has brought up whatever I
have asked for Siri to bring up, but I thought it was supposed to dialogue with
me just as it does when I use the home button. I noticed that it also happens
with my husband's iPhone for S, which is also updated. I thought I was supposed
to be able to dialogue with Siri without lowering the phone just as I do when
using the home button. Could anyone shed some light on this? Thank you very
much and I look forward to your responses.

Problem with Siri and 16.2 when trying to open messages app not send a message.

2022-12-14 Thread Mary Otten
Since upgrading to 16.2 from iOS 15, I have noticed that Siri has become even
dumber. The latest thing is that if I ask it to open the Messages app, it wants
to read me the most recent message, and then, when I say, that’s not what I
want open messages, it thinks, I’m trying to send a message replying to the
message it just read, in which I was not at all interested. What the heck has
happened with Siri? It’s getting dumber, not smarter. Now it doesn’t want to
open the weather app either. It had some nonsense about dark sky, and actions,
and even though I said, no, I don’t want that, it just sat there. What the
heck good is it?

RE: Problem with Siri and 16.2 when trying to open messages app not send a message.

2022-12-15 Thread Carolyn
Thanks; that is good to know. I have not updated yet, but I do have a 14 Pro.
I'm waiting to hear more comments about 16.2

It worked or I wouldn't have posted that I "did" it rather than "tried" it.

Well, I just did both things with Hey Siri; as well as holding the side
switch and asking Siri to open messages and to open Weather. I did it three
times in a row with each app and each method.
iOS 16.2.

2017-09-24 Thread kg7fa2
Hi all, I have found that the Siri voice is not especially suted for
Voice Over, as it uses to much of your phones resources. I had a very
interesting situation with the Sirius XM app, whare it would crash and
then not let me open it again. I switched back to Tom, and it is now
working correctly. I just wish that my Voice Dream Reader problem could
be fixed that easily!

Have a good one:

OK everyone. Ihave had to do a hard reset twice on my 7 plus today using IOS
11. I had been using the new Siri male voice. I also use a Refreshabraille
display and twice today my phone decides to crash requiring a hard reset. Voice
Over is lost and the only thing that comes up on the display is messagesand
there’s no moving around as voice over is lost. Can’t even do a ?ree fingle
double tap to turn on the speech so I reset. After I do and the phone reboots,
Samantha comes on but the Siri male voice is selected. Soafter this happened
for the second time today I decided to go back to Tom. Hopefully this doesn’t
happen with any of the other voices.
