Re: Advice needed on new iPhone 13 setup and how patient to be

2021-10-11 Thread Mickey Quenzer
Hello Richard:
Thanks for that information.
What I’ve learned from all of this is that in case you need it it’s a good idea
to have your windows or Mac computer running the latest iTunes in case you need
it. As far as the thing about having antivirus software turned off, I had to do
this when I was doing installation of an iPhone 6 Plus a year and a half ago as
it was not complete until I did this. So as a progression that’s what I’ve
suggested people might want to do.

I wonder what kind of problems I’m going to have updating my wife’s iPhone if
she decides to buy an iPhone 13?
She at this point has an iPhone 11. She’s looking at getting the iPhone Pro 13
as it has a better camera any thought about that?

The iOS was being installed wirelessly so no computers or computer viruses
involved.

Hi List,

I need some advice. I’m in process of setting up a new iPhone 13 Mini. I got it
connected to my iPhone SE 2020 to do the device to device transfer. I got this
started and got face ID set up and then I was prompted to update the new iPhone
to iOS 15.01 which I began. This has been going on for about an hour and I’m
losing patience. I’m also curious why in the world a new device is set by
default to turn off after about 30 seconds. I’m having to touch the screen
every 30 seconds to prevent the device from going to sleep which I believe will
stop the iOS update. I’m hesitant to do a cold reset with the volume up, volume
down, and power buttons but I’m losing patience.

I welcome your recommendations and thanks in advance.

Subject: RE: Advice needed on new iPhone 13 setup and how patient to be

I called AppleCare about the new iPhone still updating when the screen has gone
to sleep and the rep said it should still update. I’m not sure I’m convinced.
After waiting almost 3 hours for the iOS 15.01 upgrade, I rebooted the new
iPhone and am now getting a screen that says reconnecting. There is a Cancel
button in the upper left corner of that screen and when I double tap on it, I
get a message asking me if I’m sure I want to stop transferring data which will
cause the iPhone to be reset and erased. I’m assuming the transfer is the
redownload of my 250+ apps from the App Store. When I get up in the morning, I
will check the status and if it is still transferring data, I’m going to reset
and start again. For one who has been using these devices as long as I have, I
think Apple could do a far sight better at making the setup process easier and
more intuitive.

When I got into a long delay, I called Apple Accessibility and ended up having
to reboot both phones at the same time.

The update probably has to finish before it will let you do squat.

I've given feedback to Apple before about the 30 second (explitive) but it will
take a lot more feedback to get them to change that I guess.

Perhaps we all need to put it to them as an accessibility issue and have new
phones switch to never, or 5 minutes as sooon as VoiceOver is turned on.

Good luck.

Apple could make this easier.
The Apple Accessibility rep had me reset both phones at the same time and you
have to do the camera reconnect again, but it worked well.

Re: Advice needed on new iPhone 13 setup and how patient to be

2021-10-10 Thread Mickey Quenzer
Hello Allen:
The best thing I would suggest you do if you’re still having trouble with the
set up is to get iTunes running on either the Mac or a PC. Make sure you are
running the latest iTunes software version. Another words check for updates
before you connect your iPhone 13.
then plug your iPhone 13 in.
Reboot using the volume up volume down side button hold the side button until
you hear your iPhone connect.
Then you should be able to continue the update and it will work. What I found
is the iPhone 15 software is too big and needs to be using the iPhone iTunes
program to do the old update method as we used to do a long time ago. This
method is still used when you were having trouble with an over the Air app
update.

Re: Advice needed on new iPhone 13 setup and how patient to be

2021-10-09 Thread Richard Turner
When I got into a long delay, I called Apple Accessibility and ended up having
to reboot both phones at the same time.
The update probably has to finish before it will let you do squat.
I've given feedback to Apple before about the 30 second (explitive) but it will
take a lot more feedback to get them to change that I guess.
Perhaps we all need to put it to them as an accessibility issue and have new
phones switch to never, or 5 minutes as sooon as VoiceOver is turned on.
Good luck.
