I find the updated AP easier for the removal of finished books. It took a
couple of tries but I was able to get it.
You might be careful with the choices at the top of the library. It took
me some time to get back to the recent books first. After a couple of tries
I found it useful. On Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 8:45:10 AM UTC-4, Joy Cyr

RE: Deleting Books In The Audible App?

2020-05-13 Thread Alan Lemly
Joy and Sieghard,

One last thing you might want to try is to sign out of the Audible app and sign
back in. I know when they first introduced the ability to purchase books using
credits from within the Audible app, the button allowing purchase with a credit
when I was reviewing details of a potential purchase was unavailable to me
until I signed out and signed back into my account within the Audible app.

Re the actual app, my player tab went away for weeks but then returned so you

All you do is find the title to be removed and flick up with one finger. It
says remove and so if you want it gone, double tap that. This is only if you
have the new updated version of audible.

Very interesting, my version as far as I can tell matches yours exactly and I
wonder how they can have this feature in the same app version in one country
and not another, it makes no sense. I may have to follow the advice I gave Joy
and delete the app and reinstall it.

Hi Sieghard,

Yes, the Audible latest version app in the States lets us single finger swipe
on our library titles and offers a remove from device option for any which have
been downloaded to the device. It sounds like maybe the version you have in
Canada doesn't offer that option yet based on what at least one other has
posted on this thread.

Hi Alan,

You say “doing a single finger swipe on a title which has been downloaded to my
iPhone will offer a choice of remove from device”.
Are you saying you can flick up or down on a title and it gives you a
remove/delete option?
This is also new to me and while how Audible has had it for quite some time now
works fine, I wish they did use the rotor and you could flick up to a delete
option on a book.
The way I have to delete books is to first double tap on what I call the
“master delete” button which is to the left of refresh. Once activated each
title I downloaded has a delete button, I have to double tap on it, wait for a
second until Voiceover says “Delete” a second time and then double tap before
the book is deleted.

I agree that it would be silly to allow you to delete books from your Cloud
library, this is where you have all the books you have bought and how else
would you be able to access them. I assume Audible could implement some sort of
feature which would allow you to Hide a book and to then have access to that
hidden section in case you ever want to unhide a book, but as far as I am
concerned I want all my books in my Cloud tab so I can search for any of them
if I want to listen to something a second time.

Regards,
Sieghard

I've got the same buttons and controls Richard detailed in his below message.
Deleting a title is very easy as others have already posted. When I have all
titles selected, doing a single finger swipe on a title which has been
downloaded to my iPhone will offer a choice of remove from device when that
title has focus. This option is not available on titles that are only in the
cloud. I'm a bit confused why deleting an Audible book is causing confusion. It
seems to me that they've got it working well as it is now.

You may be on an older version of the app, or it is different in Canada.
On the bottom, I now only have 4 tabs: Home, Library, Originals, and Discover.
There is no longer a Cloud button or Device button at the top.
Along the top if you select the Library tab, you have these buttons:
Search, Titles, Unread, Collection, All Titles, Not Started, Started,
Downloaded, Finished.
Depending on which one of those is selected, you will find the number of titles
in that section, then a Recent button and a Select button, which I have not
quite sorted out what the Selected button accomplishes.

You're right, it is fascinating since I don't have an unread option! I can
sort by: recent, length, title and author. That's all of my choices.

I'd love to call them but at least here in Canada they've closed the phone line
so that option isn't currently available and I am really fed up of having so
many excess titles.

Hi Joy,

I sort of understand what you are saying and I guess all you can do there is
to send feedback to ?Audible asking for a way to completely remove a book from
your library or at least hide it. Maybe others are also asking for this and if
enough people do Audible may implement such a feature.
As for deleting books you downloaded that is not difficult. I am also in Canada
and I actually don't think it makes a difference, Audible is not releasing a
"Canadian" version of their app. If you still have the "Player" tab at the
bottom instead of just Home, Library, Discover and Profile I would recommend
you delete and redownload the app, might just be a glitch.

If these audible titles have been in your account for more then one year, they
can't be removed even by phone.

And, you can always search your library for the book you want to read rather
than scrolling through every title.
Or, sort by unfinished books, finished, etc.

I expect we'll never see a way to permanently delete Audible titles from our

Re: Deleting Books In The Audible App?

2020-05-13 Thread Alan Lemly
I expect we'll never see a way to permanently delete Audible titles from our
library. I can imagine such an ability to cause many more problems than the one
or two it might solve. I expect you're going to have to deal with the issue
until you can get someone from Audible Support on the phone.

If these audible titles have been in your account for more then one
year, they can't be removed even by phone.

Since it is side tracking the topic I'll simply say there was a time before I

to my account. They got in the habit of treating it as an extension of there
own account.I now have namy books in it that I never bought and never will

have dealt with it that way, however, regardless of the reason there should be
a method to remove a book from displaying in your cloud library.

RE: Deleting Books In The Audible App?

2020-05-12 Thread Alan Lemly

Sieghard

You may be on an older version of the app, or it is different in Canada.

On the bottom, I now only have 4 tabs: Home, Library, Originals, and Discover.

There is no longer a Cloud button or Device button at the top.

Along the top if you select the Library tab, you have these buttons:

Search, Titles, Unread, Collection, All Titles, Not Started, Started,
Downloaded, Finished.

Depending on which one of those is selected, you will find the number of titles
in that section, then a Recent button and a Select button, which I have not
quite sorted out what the Selected button accomplishes.

Sieghard,
It would appear that the Canadian version of audible is different from the US
version.
Alan and I have the same screen. You and Joy have the same screen.
I no longer have the master delete button, etc.
Its quite different.
I'll see if I can do a screen shot and scan it and send it out.

My selections are significantly different. I did only have four tabs at the
bottom for sometime but in the last week or so I went back to having five:
home, library, player, discover and profile. I do still have the cloud and
device buttons at the top.

Ihave my apps set to automatically update and my other apps are up to
date.. I did just go look a few minutes ago (but unwisely went to check
several other options before writing), think it said this is version 3.24.1.
Doesn't make sense to me that the app would be different in the US and Canada
but that of course may well be the case.

You're right, it is fascinating since I don't have an unread option! I can
sort by: recent, length, title and author. That's all of my choices.

I'd love to call them but at least here in Canada they've closed the phone line
so that option isn't currently available and I am really fed up of having so
many excess titles.

Thanks,

RE: Deleting Books In The Audible App?

2020-05-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,
Sieghard

Deleting a title is very easy as others have already posted. When I have all

Well, I guess I missed that. I personally would never want to hide something in

find it again.

RE: Deleting Books In The Audible App?

2020-05-12 Thread Richard Turner

Thanks,

This is running iOS 13.4.1 and the most recent update of the Audible app.

Re: Deleting Books from the Audible App: An Alternate Method

2014-10-17 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Sieghardd,
You know, I thought somewhere I had seen a listing of how many books were in my
library, but I can't remember where. It might have been on the main site. As
for the listening statistics, I have to confess, I don't really pay much
attention to that. Although, I do remember when I switched devices a while
back, I was momentarily mildly dismayed to find out that I was back at zero. I
guess it just doesn't matter that much to me, but it does seem stupid that they
don't back this information up, since it seems to be so important to them. All
those badges you can earn etc.

I can see something like this being useful. In the Audible app you can
filter by Unfinished by going to the cloud tab, then double tap on All

still shows me a lot of books which I have read and which for some reason
don't show as Finished. But it's better than nothing and hopefully others
maybe request a better way to sort read from unread and there will be
improvements with this. One other area which I think is silly is their
listening statistics. If you ever get a new device, do a compelte restore or
even delete Audible to reinstall it you always start out from scratch. I
don't understand why they don't track total listening time from all your
devices and back this up/sync to iCloud so that if you get a new device it
will continue to add to your total. It should not be that hard to give
people the ability to look at this information by device or as a total.
It would also be nice if somewhere they showed how many books were in your
 library.

 1. Double tap the top delete button
 2. Double tap Refresh
 3. Put your finger at the top left of the screen and located the Settings
button. Now drag your finger straight down along the left edge, below the
Settings button you find a button called All Titles, drag it down a bit
more and you should find the first Edit Mode button. If you are trying to
delete the last book you listened to it should be at the top and this should
be the correct button. You can always check this by sliding your finger to
the right (slide it along the screen, don't swipe). Of course you have to be
sure you are sliding straight across and not to the right and down on a
diagonal. Anyhow, if this is the title you want to delete, double tap on the
Edit Mode button after you locate it.
 4. Now put your finger on the right side of the screen. I usually locate the
Refresh button and then swipe down a bit to the first Delete button. This is
the same as sliding down from All Titles to Edit Mode on the left, once you
locate the Delete button double tap it and you will get the message asking
you to confirm if you want to delete the book.

That method has not been reliable for me. Sometimes after pressing the top

Hi all, Robert, unfortunately I will have to agree with you, I've
tried the methods suggested and they don't seem to work consistently
 for
 me either.
What happens to me sometimes is that even though audible says I have
a book when I hit delete, it downloads it. Not sure what that's all
 about.

RE: Deleting Books from the Audible App: An Alternate Method

2014-10-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mary,

I can see something like this being useful. In the Audible app you can
filter by Unfinished by going to the cloud tab, then double tap on All
Titles and then pick Unfinished from the list of options. However, this
still shows me a lot of books which I have read and which for some reason
don't show as Finished.
It would also be nice if somewhere they showed how many books were in your
library.

Sieghard

The old archive feature gave you three things. You had your machine. You had
your active library list, then you had your archive. That way, when you had
a whole lot of books, some of which you had not rent, you could see those in
your active library list. And you wouldn't have to go through all those
things that you had read to find things that you had not read. When you have
a library that has many hundreds of books in it, it is kind of a big deal.

Back in the good old days, in the Stone Age, when audible was young,
they used to have an archive feature. That meant, if you read a book,
you could put it in your archive. You didn't lose access to it, but it
did not show up in your library list. Oh how I wish they would bring that
back.

 perfectly.
Is there a way to delete books you've already read from the cloud? Or
will that do that when you delete it from your device? Hope that made
 sense.

Make sure you are on the Device tab and not the Cloud tab. If a book

 what I describe
 it works 100%.
However, I just tried this again and if I double tap the top delete
button and then double tap refresh, it will not work for me if I
swipe to the Edit Mode button and double tap it then swipe back to
 delete and
 double tap it.
These buttons are not in order when you swipe because the delete
button comes first even though it's on the right side of the title
and then if you swipe right again you get to Edit mode which is on
the left side of the title. Here once again exactly what I do and
 which works
 for me at least:

 1. Double tap the top delete button
 2. Double tap Refresh
 3. Put your finger at the top left of the screen and located the
 Settings
button. Now drag your finger straight down along the left edge,
below the Settings button you find a button called All Titles,
drag it down a bit more and you should find the first Edit Mode
button. If you are trying to delete the last book you listened to
it should be at the top and this should be the correct button. You
can always check this by sliding your finger to the right (slide it
along the screen, don't swipe). Of course you have to be sure you
 are sliding straight across

Hi Craig,

I just tried what you outlined and it does not work for me at all. I tried
swiping to the Delete button as you described and I also tried a triple tap
after locating the delete button by finding it with my finger. Each time the
book just started playing, I had the normal playback screen with the cover
art, the jump forward, play/paus and jump backward buttons etc. but nowhere
did I find a prompt where I could delete the book.

Anyhow, I've gotten used to double tapping on the top delete button, then I
double tap refresh, after that it's easy to locate the edit mode button on
the left and the delete button on the right. Let's hope they get around
fixing this. I sent another email today and also suggested they finally get
around to implementing the scrub gesture for going back and also to take
Voice Dream Reader as an example as to how elegantly and efficiently
playback controls, book navigation and accessing the sleep timer can be. I
think I have yet to find a better implementation in any app.

Hello, everyone.

I have discovered an alternate method to deleting books from the
latest version of the Audible App.

1. Find the second delete button. If you are doing successive
right swipes, this button is spoken just before the title of the book
you wish to delete is spoken.

2. Triple tap this Delete button. If the book starts to play, don't
worry.

3. You will be asked Are you sure? Press the Remove button.

This whole business makes no sense, but I have tested it several
times, and it seems to work. Can others confirm this discovery?

This is what I have found that works for me. Double tap the first delete
button. Double tap the refresh button. Tripple tap the edit mode button.
Tripple tap the second delete button, next to the name of the book that you are

Hi,

Using iOS8.02 on an iPhone 5s, the only somewhat reliable way that I have found
to delete a book in the most recent version of the audible app with VoiceOver
running, is to double-tap and hold on the book title and while holding swipe

Hi Robert,

For ti to be consistant just double tap the Refresh button after you double
tap the top delete button. The Edit Mode button doesn't always show up on my

if I drag my finger down the left side to find the Edit Mode button rather
than swiping to it it is also better and like I said, I get 100% consistency
if I do it this way.

title and while holding swipe left from the right side to the left
side of the screen. Then double-tap the delete button that is just to
the left of the book title. If this works, you will get the prompt
telling you that your bookmarks have been saved and you can delete the
book. This does not work every time for me but I have always been able to
make it work after a few tries.

Hi all, Robert, unfortunately I will have to agree with you, I've tried the
methods suggested and they don't seem to work consistently for me either.
What happens to me sometimes is that even though audible says I have a book
when I hit delete, it downloads it. Not sure what that's all about.

Hi Robert,

For ti to be consistant just double tap the Refresh button after you double
tap the top delete button. The Edit Mode button doesn't always show up on my
5S either, but it always does once I double tap Refresh. Then I found that
if I drag my finger down the left side to find the Edit Mode button rather

Hi,

That method has not been reliable for me. Sometimes after pressing the top

Lelia,

Make sure you are on the Device tab and not the Cloud tab. If a book starts
downloading that means it probably wasn't downloaded completely before and
you are just restarting the download. I cannot reproduce this on my iPhone
5S and all I can repeat is that if I do what I describe it works 100%.
However, I just tried this again and if I double tap the top delete button
and then double tap refresh, it will not work for me if I swipe to the Edit
Mode button and double tap it then swipe back to delete and double tap it.
These buttons are not in order when you swipe because the delete button
comes first even though it's on the right side of the title and then if you
swipe right again you get to Edit mode which is on the left side of the
title. Here once again exactly what I do and which works for me at least:

2013-02-20 Thread DJ
I'm going to jump in here and make another suggestion. Rather than turning
VO off and back on, maybe the delete button can be had by double-tapping and
holding the finger down on the second tap. After hearing the three
ascending notes, swipe your finger to the right, or swipe as you suggested
before in both directions. This is all while keeping your finger on the
screen until you have completed all gestures. I haven't tried it myself,
but thought it might work for you. This does work similarly in other apps
BTW.

Hi Robert,

There are only 2 options in that case:

1. Ask a sighted person to do it. Turn off Voiceover with a triple click
home if you have it set up that way. Then tell them to swipe from left to
right across the title/part of the book that didn't download correctly. At
that point a delete button pops up on the right side next to the title, tap
it and the book/part of the book is gone.

2. Put your iPhone on a table or in a place where it's stabil. Touch the
part of the book you have to delete. Lift your finger straight up just a
bit, then turn off Voiceover with the triple click home with your other
hand. Now put your finger down and swipe left to right and try to do it as
straight as possible. Lift your finger at the end of the swipe, turn on
Voiceover with a triple tap home and then find the part of the book. Swipe
right and if you swiped across the title correctly the delete button will be
there. Double tap it and the book/part of the book will be deleted.

With a bit of practice you should be able to do this pretty successfully,
sometimes if I have a book with 5 or 6 parts I delete the parts that way
after I am done with the book since it's faster than starting to play each
part, going into Info, finding Remove from Device and double tapping it,
then double tap again to confirm.

Sieghard

Hello.

Once you have finished with an Audible book, swipe left to the info button.
Double tap and make sure you are on the details tab. Swipe right until you
hear remove from device. Double tap, and when it asks you to delete the
book, swipe right until you hear remove from device button. When I mean
swipe, I mean flick right.

Hi,

All this doesn't matter now. Deleting a book from the download page is now
accessible in the latest version of audible released today.
