And the light detector channel in the Seeing AI app does exactly the same, it makes a low tone which gets higher in pitch the more you point the camera to the light source and the brighter the light source is. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of janet gross Sent: Monday, June 3, 2019 12:35 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Flashlight Issue Resolved! RE: Flashlight Issue Resolved!
Unrelated to the iPhone but related to lights, make sure you buy an LED light bulb to replace your broken one. They may cost a bit more, but compared to 5 years ago they have come way down in price. It takes much less power so if somebody leaves it on it's less expensive and it will last for years and years, most good LED bulbs nowadays have a life span of 20,000 or 25,000 hours which is almost 7 years to 8.5 years if they were on 8 hours each day every day of the year. You can get LED bulbs which are equivalent to a 40 Watt bulb and which typically use about 6.5 Watts, a 60 Watt equivalent usually uses around 9 or 10 Watts and a 100 Watt equivalent uses around 13 to 15 Watts. If your switch is a dimmer switch make sure the LED bulb supports it, some don't, but they definitely have those which support it. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of janet gross Sent: Sunday, June 2, 2019 9:48 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Flashlight Issue Resolved! Although, I kept turning the light switch on, but I just never thought to feel the lightbulb, until the Apple rep said hey Janet how about feeling the lightbulb, and I said oh yeah, I never thought of that. I then had to get a chair and an extra lightbulb, and insert it, and the Apple rep said, hey Janet I can see your whole kitchen! Smile! For those who might not know I am totally blind, and I live alone. I couldn't imagine when my sighted family or friends would come around, that they didn't even say anything about that. I have this one friend who comes over often when she is on break from work, and she is always turning on the other two lights, and raising the window shades, and I just would think wow, some sighted people really need a lot of light, but I didn't need that much light to see when I was sighted! Well, I'm happy that problem is solved! LOL! The Apple rep told me not to feel bad about it, because he also learned something, he didn't know someone else using an iPhone could turn on my flash through another phone. So I want to thank all those who tried to help. Janet Peace Be With You. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list. Hi, Well, thank you so much. To be honest I am so fed up with Seeing AI, as I tried working with it for several months, and still it is a no go situation, so I will delete it from my phone, and purchase the Voice stream Scanner, and probably the Voice Dream Reader as well. Hi Janet. My husband and I are both totally blind. I turn on the lights for my guide dog, but there was one I kept turning on and didn't realize it was burnt out. It was in my computer room where I didn't often have sighted visitors. I wonder how long I turned on the nonworking light thinking I was being such a good, attentive guide dog owner. Keep smilin'. God bless! Hi All, For those who might have been following one of my threads regarding the flashlight on my phone, and because Be My Eyes had to turn my flashlight on my phone through their phone in order to see. Well, I have to admit I feel so embarrassed to even admit this,as it was pretty stupid on my part. So here goes, once again, I called Apple Accessibility, and I told them every time I call Be My Eyes, they keep telling me they can't see anything except complete black, and they would have to turn on my flash through their iPhone. So Apple rep checked it, on my phone by seeing if they could see anything on my kitchen counter. Well, the Apple rep was telling me the exact samething that Be My Eyes was telling me, Janet everything is completely black. The main problem was one of my kitchen lightbulbs directly above my kitchen counter, and where I would hold a product so Be My Eyes could read it to me. Well, low in behold, one of the lightbulbs blew out, and I never even thought about that! De! I felt so stupid, but luckily enough, the Apple rep has a father who is blind, and he said he goes through this quite often with his father! I don't know who laughed more me or the Apple rep! Wow, did I kick myself for that one! Smile! I guess that is what I get for being blind! When I lived alone, I'd use my color identifier to check lights, especially, when I still had my home, and in two rooms, there were two switches. Try using the light detector on the seeing AI app. It works great in situations where you need to check lights.
