Re: Pausing in DropVox was RE: Recording App Question

2015-12-16 Thread Andrew J. LaPointe
Hi Alan, I have been using Dropvox earlier this morning after I got the
email describing the instructions. It is working just fine for me. A 1
finger double tap starts the recording and the 1 finger triple tap pauses. I
have done this about 5 times with the same recording with no flaws. Could it
be that you are tapping too slowly or something? I am using the I phone 6 with
ios 9.2. Also, to stop the recording, I swiped to the right to find stop and
tapped that. I hope this works out for you. It is so convenient to have all
kinds of apps on one device that makes our lives so much easier. Andy and

Ari,

I've read the DropVox help which is at a website which opens in Safari. The
help does say that VoiceOver users are to single finger triple tap the record
button to pause a recording and single finger double tap to resume it just as
you said. However, this isn't working for me in DropVox version 2.1.1 running
iOS 8.3 on my iPhone 6. The single finger triple tap does stop the recording
but I can see that the recording timer is being reset to 0:00 after this and
then I hear the tone indicating that the file is being uploaded to Dropbox just
as it does when a recording is being ended as opposed to paused.

I sure would appreciate it if others could try pausing a DropVox recording as
Ari outlined and let me know if you're able to do so successfully so that you
end up with only one recorded file in Dropbox with the recording containing
stops and starts as a successfully paused and resumed recording should.

I have written the developer at drop...@irradiatedsoftware.com and hopefully
will get a resolution to this issue.

Alan, this is very odd. No, you didn't misunderstand my instructions. This has
always worked for me. In fact, the developer talks about pausing and resuming
recordings. I believe the help is either within the app, or on a website that's
linked to from within the app. The reason it's a double tap to start and stop
recording's Fully, is because we use VoiceOver. Sighted people would just tap
once to activate the button. And the reason that it's a triple-tap to pause is
also because of our use of VoiceOver. Sighted people tap twice to activate
pausing, so we have to tap three times.

Thanks,

Ari

Pausing in DropVox was RE: Recording App Question

2015-12-15 Thread Alan Lemly
Ari,

I tried doing a single finger triple tap as you suggested below to pause a
DropVox recording and a single finger double tap to restart it. If I
understood your instructions and the post to which you were giving them, I
expected to only have one recording saved to Dropbox. This was not what I
experienced. The single finger triple tap did stop the recording but it
acted the same as if I had stopped it by executing the record button used at
the bottom middle of the screen. I ended up with a new file each time I
stopped and started using a single finger triple tap and single finger
double tap instead of one file as I wanted with breaks in it for each pause.

Did I misunderstand your instructions or is it really not possible to pause
a DropVox recording and restart it and end up with only one file in Dropbox?

Andrew, to pause the recording, do you a single-finger triple-tap. To
unpause, do a one-finger double-tap. If you want to pause again, just do
another single-finger triple-tap, and a single-finger double-tap to resume
again. If you do a single-finger double-tap after resuming, recording will
stop, and uploading to Dropbox Will commence.

Ok, now that I've found out that Voxie is no longer supported, I need to
find a new recording app.

One of my favorite features of that app was the ability to directly transfer
recordings to my pc, without having to store them somewhere else first. Are
there any other recording apps that allow that?

I have not recorded music, but the fact that it has a stereo setting and could
use an external microphone, I suspect it would do well.
I have the Zoom IQ 6 and it records very well, but I have not done music yet.

Hi, When I looked on iTunes, it said this app was $9.99. However. It turns out
that it is $0.99 for the app with a number of different individual add-ons you
can get, such as voice activation, etc.

There is also a free version with ads.

Hello,

Not sure if by now you already found an app that is voice activated and works
on the lock screen

Audio memos does all that. Here is the link

Audio Memos - The Voice Recorder by Imesart S.a.r.l.

Not sure how much it costs. I think it's free with lots of options to be
purchased individually or in a bundle.

It's accessible and works on lock screen. I often used it to see if my guide

Re: recording app for IPhone 5s

2015-01-30 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hello,

Not sure if by now you already found an app that is voice activated and works
on the lock screen
Audio memos does all that. Here is the link
Audio Memos - The Voice Recorder by Imesart S.a.r.l.
https://appsto.re/ca/05Dlu.i
Not sure how much it costs. I think it's free with lots of options to be
purchased individually or in a bundle.
It's accessible and works on lock screen. I often used it to see if my guide
dog is quiet when left alone.
hth,

Ioana

Re: recording app

2014-02-19 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Coincidentally I learned just the other day that Texas is a state where
it's legal to record a call as long as one party consents, and of
course, if you're recording the call then your consent is implied.
Therefore, if you, and all of the participants of a call are in Texas,
you can record the call legally without having to inform anyone else on
the call that you're doing so. I'm not saying this is right or fair; I'm
just saying it's not illegal.

Re: recording app

2014-02-19 Thread Sean Paul

Heyya May May:
I'm not aware of any app which will record a phone call exactly. Any
recording app could in practicality be used as long as the phone call was
kept on speaker phone. This is how I've recorded both sides of a skype call

RE: recording app

2014-02-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There are none that work natively on the iPhone. All apps that exist require
you to dial into their server, then basically do a conference call by
dialing the number you want to call/record and it will record on their
server and you can access this afterwards.
If you want to record an incoming call you would have to place the caller on
hold, establish the connection to the server and then you can record.

List Recorder used to be able o record a speakerphone call, but in iOS 7
this does not work any more, Apple does not allow another app to record in
the background while a phone call is ongoing.

You can use various Voip apps like Acrobits or Groundwire (probably the best
and most accessible and both by the same developer, Acrobits), but of course
you then need to sign up for a Voip account with somebody like
www.VoipStunt.com, CallCentric, VoipCheap.com and there are literally dozens
out there. You have to buy a credit which then allows you to configure
whichever service you choose in the Voip app and you can make outgoing phone
calls.
Both Acrobits and Groundwire have a "Record" button and you can record both
sides of the conversation.
Keep in mind that depending on the purpose you are obligated to let the
other person know you are recording the call. In many juristictions it is
illegal to record calls and for sure to do so without the other party
knowing.

You could, of course, just put the call on speakerphone and use any other
recording device to record the call, a tape recorder, a digital voice
recorder, another iDevice if you have an iPod Touch or iPad etc.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi,

Just a couple of suggestions you could try, Dropvox and Audio Share.
I think you can change what format you can record in with Audio Share
and of course, Dropvox Sincs brilliantly with Dropbox but then again,
Audio Share does too.

Hope this helps,
Take care,

Re: recording app for teh iPad

2012-10-10 Thread Annie Skov Nielsen
Hi.

I have tried a great number of these Voice recorders, the one I will really
recommend is Voice Recorder HD. It also works for background recording in very
good quality.

Best regards Annie.

  Hi Elizabeth,

There are two more paid recorders that are popular among many on this list,
Voxie Recorder and List Recorder.

List Recorder is my favorite as it is not only a excellent recorder but also
is a note taker as well.

Also, List Recorder is designed for the Voice Over user so it is completely
accessible. I think the strongest plus for List Recorder is that it is
designed to make it easy to organize recordings. You can move them around to
different lists and re name the lists in any way that works for you. You can
organize things in all different ways.

Finally, The ability to add to either the beginning or the end of a existing
recording is a great help.

As far as sending the recordings to your computer you can use, email,
dropbox, or itunes File share. Everything is described in the detailed help
sections in the app or you can use podcasts from sixthmode.com or applevis.com.

YOu can also export all or some of your List Recorder info to your computer
for safe keeping. I'm a believer in backups so I appreciate this being built
in.

To purchase List Recorder you first purchase the light app
for .99. You then do a in app purchase to get the full version. the second
purchase is $7.99. Once you have List Recorder your device will be a fully
functional accessible recorder and note taker.

I use this app more then any other on my phone. I'm sure it will work well on
the iPad.

  Hope this info is helpful.

There's also one called Clear Record Premium which is paid, but not
sure if it works on the iPad. I like Clear Record because you can
speed up the playback when listening to your recording. Note though
that after starting the recording, VO volume will decrease, but the
Done button is right above the Home button, at least that's how it is
on the iPhone version. There are other cool features to Clear Record,
like I believe the ability to transfer recordings over wifi, but the
playback at faster speeds was the one that sold me initially.

Wayne
