RE: Where do I get the time remaining in a book with the latest version of the Audible app?

2020-07-18 Thread Alan Lemly
Barbara,

When you are displaying the App Store updates screen, do a 3 finger swipe down
a few times to refresh the screen. This should cause your device to display all
the current updates.

Now that I know I can get the time remaining from the mini player or from the
library list, I'm not too bothered by its omission from the full player screen.
I normally use the Audible app while my phone is locked in my pocket so I'm
seldom accessing the full player anyway.

Thanks for your help with the issue.

Alan

Well, I went to the app store and looked at the audible app page there and it
says there was an update 5 days ago that for some reason is not showing up in
my available updates yet. So I guess that my version is not the latest version.
This kind of thing is why I disabled the automatic update feature in settings.
I do not like to be surprised by unwelcome changes in a perfectly working app.

There is just one more thing you could try that I can think of. If you double
tap the more button in the full player, there is a player settings button.
Double tap that and scroll through the options and see if there is a option to
show the time remaining in the full player. My version does not have this
option in that menu, but my version also still has the time remaining section
in the full player.

If not, I hope they fix this soon, because it was really nice having that
feature in the full player and there is no reason that I can think of for
leaving it out.

I thought this being an older book from the late 1990's might make a difference

Maybe someone can enlighten me when the term player scrubber started being used
for the playback timeline. That seems a poor choice of words for that control
in my opinion.

That is so weird. Are you using the u.s version of the app?

What do you see when you open the full player?

At the top left I have close, then car mode then more then the name of the
currently playing audible book then time remaining and then the time remaining
in the current section and then the percentage of the book that I have read so
far.

What do you see?

I have checked my app updates and there's none for audible. So my version
should be the latest version available.

Maybe you should try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it? Sometimes doing
things like that will fix weird issues that are popping up.

As far as I know I have the latest update. I double tap the player without the
book actually playing.

You can also lock the screen while the book is playing push the power button
once and then swipe down the screen until you find the player controls, you can
see what position you are in there.

You can also open your audible library and scroll to the book you are currently
listening to and it should tell you how much time is remaining.

Yes, I'm using the US version of the Audible app.

view beginning in the upper lefthand corner of the screen:

The chapter number of the book

Player scrubber with the number of minutes elapsed and remaining in the current

I don’t find it anywhere.

There was a spot before I opened the mini player that said there were 11 hours
and 1 minutes left.

However, that number didn’t change after it had played for a couple of minutes.

When I opened the mini player, that info disappeared.

If it is there visually, then it will be worth writing them, or calling them.

It is probably worth writing or calling even if it isn’t there visually because
it should be.

Hi List,

I'm running the latest version of the Audible app on an iPhone SE 2020 running
iOS 13.6. I used to could double tap on the Audible mini player when a book was
playing and swiping around on the full player would announce the time remaining
in the book. I'm much more interested in the book remaining time than the time
remaining in a chapter which I really don't need. I updated the Audible app
yesterday and I'm no longer hearing the time remaining in the book and was
wondering if others using the app are experiencing the same thing. If you can
direct me as to how to get the time remaining, I'd love to hear how.

Thanks in advance.

version of the Audible app?

I don’t find it anywhere.
There was a spot before I opened the mini player that said there were 11 hours
and 1 minutes left.
However, that number didn’t change after it had played for a couple of minutes.
When I opened the mini player, that info disappeared.

If it is there visually, then it will be worth writing them, or calling them.
It is probably worth writing or calling even if it isn’t there visually because
it should be.

Subject: Where do I get the time remaining in a book with the latest version of
the Audible app?

Re: Where do I get the time remaining in a book with the latest version of the Audible app?

2020-07-17 Thread Barbara Stahl
Double tapping the mini player at the bottum of the screen still brings up the
full player and I can still see the time remaining in the book.

RE: Where do I get the time remaining in a book with the latest version of the Audible app?

2020-07-16 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi Richard,

I did call Audible and got a very helpful support person. She told me the
remaining time was on the mini player which is near the bottom just above the
bottomline buttons which include Home, Library, etc. from left to right. I find
that swiping once to the right when focus is on the mini player play button
lands me on the book title which is announced followed by the current chapter
number and then the time remaining in the book. I'm pretty certain this
information used to be announced when in the full player mode but I might be
wrong about that.
