Hi Alan:

I tried that and the web site said already activated. LOL. I have to work so
someone is going to take my phone to an AT store. I do not have a landline,
but I atleast have my watch.

Hi Sarai,

I had some difficulty getting my Verizon prepaid phone service activated on my
new iPhone 13 Mini but it wasn’t an eSIM issue. I tried using the do it
yourself on the phone activation offered by Verizon which requires you to key
in the IMEI and ICCID but when you have one cellular phone line that is moving
to the device you’re activating, you can’t successfully do this using your old
cellular phone. I got cut off in the middle of the process which if I’d been
thinking, I should have realized this could happen. Fortunately, I had a
landline I was able to use to get support from Verizon to finish the activation
process. I had already gotten the physical SIM mailed to me from Verizon but it
still had to be activated to move my service from the iPhone SE 2020 to the 13
Mini.

Does AT have a website or phone app that will let you activate your 13 Pro?
Hopefully, you won’t have to go into an AT store to get them to activate your
phone.

Good luck with getting this resolved.

Alan Lemly

Hi Sieghard

That’s interesting that you scan a qr code to activate the e sim,

But does that then allow you to put a standard sim in to the tray and utilize 2
services?

The e sim usage isn’t something we have available to us in NZ

With 2 of our main providers,

Another one does use it but doesn’t’ advertise the fact.

I transferred my 8Plus to my 13 pro max including e-sim. I had to do it via

Exactly, now that I am switching back to Telus here in Canada which offers eSIM
and where I can finally also add my cellular Apple Watch for an extra $10 so it
can work more Apple told me all I’d have to do is accept the transfer when
transferring data. Well it worked but left when I had to hard reset the phone.
Ugg.independently I want to switch to eSIM so that when my wife and I go back
to the Philippines where she is from it is way easier to just buy a prepaid
physical SIM there and stick it into the empty tray. This way my Canadian
number still works, but I can use the local service for most things.

I could, if I wanted to also get another physical SIM here, even just one
without data and have a separate mobile business phone number, but I won't do
that because now that I am using a VoIP phone system at work it is not required
as I can get any calls made to my business number on my iPhone and I can choose
to answer them after hours or not and I can call out via the app from my VoIP
service which to the person I am calling appears like I am calling from my
business number.

I am just in the process of switching to a new provider and I will be switching
from a physical SIM to an eSim. I asked them how this would work and they told
me that because I was switching to a different provider they would send me a
new physical SIM and I would first insert that and then my cell number would be
transferred to them. After that and he said I should give it a few days I can
then activate the eSIM which he said will be done by scanning a QR code they
also send me. I asked him what I would have to do if I wanted to get a new
phone down the road and was told that at that point they would once again send
me a QR code which I would scan on the new phone and that would activate the
eSIM.

I did not know you can transfer an eSIM to a new phone the way you described.
Not saying it can't be done, but that is different from what I was told by my
carrier here in Canada..

Well… Only I would come up with this one.

I transferred my 8Plus to my 13 pro max including e-sim. I had to do it via
iCloud. Verified the cell service worked fine. Well the icloud restoration got
hosed.. so I stopped the restoration. Signed out of icloud and reset phone back
to factory default. I connected to Wifi and Bluetooth. Managed to transfer data
from 1 phone to the other phone. Problem is no cell service on either device. 6
AT tech support reps cannot figure it out. I have no phone at all. Ugg.

Exactly, now that I am switching back to Telus here in Canada which offers eSIM
and where I can finally also add my cellular Apple Watch for an extra $10 so it
can work more independently I want to switch to eSIM so that when my wife and I
go back to the Philippines where she is from it is way easier to just buy a
prepaid physical SIM there and stick it into the empty tray. This way my
Canadian number still works, but I can use the local service for most things.
