Thanks!

I knew it was in a different place than when I first got my IPhone over 2
years ago. Back then it was on the second page of the App Switcher I
believe!

Debbie,

Lock Orientation is in Control Centre. To get to it touch an item in the
status bar like the time, battery level etc. then swipe up with 3 fingers
from the bottom of the screen towards the top. Lock Orientation is on the
very right in the top row which has the following items from left to right:

Airplane Mode, WiFi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb and Lock Orientation.

On the touch screen this is easy to find if you touch just below the volume
down button and then put your finger on the screen at that level.

Open the Control Centre by touching the status bar and then flicking up with
three fingers.
Here you'll find Lock Orientation.

Hi all,
I just got a new iPhone 5s. And I noticed that when I open the mail app,
orientation changes to landscape. I don't want that.
And I can't remember how to lock orientation. It used to be that you did it
with the button on the side of the phone, but that does not work now. I have
looked around in settings, but I'm not finding it. Can someone please refresh
my memory? Thanks in advance

do the same from the top of the screen, under the speaker, for the notification
Center sliding down vertically. Yes, but it is not a tap and hold. Touch the
screen just above the home button and stay still until the two ascending tones.
Slide the finger up the screen vertically. This opens the control center.

Teresa,

You're right. If you tap and hold at the very bottom center of the screen
and then one-finger swipe up it does reveal the Control Center. I found it
pretty tricky to make happen to begin with, but after a bit of practice I
was able to get fairly consistent.

Isn't there some way to reach the control center with one finger? I read

Glad you were able to get it. You may want to research the Assistive Touch
options in the Accessibility settings as well. I've never used it but it
appears you can create custom gestures that maybe could be substituted for
some of the difficult gestures.

I'm coming to this thread late, so I'm sorry if it has already been
noted that to enable the three-finger swipe, the user must first touch
an icon on the screen's status line.

Re: locking orientation

2014-03-11 Thread Todd W
AhhYou're in Settings -> Control Center. The only way to access the
actual Control Center to my knowledge is the 3 finger swipe up from the
Home screen or Lock screen, which I know you said was difficult and can
understand your frustration. I would suggest writing to Apple
Accessibility to explain the difficulty. It seems there should definitely
be another option to get to the orientation lock on the iPhone.

Ray,

Are you on an iPhone or iPad? If you're on an iPad you can set the side switch
behavior to either
mute/unmute or lock/unlock orientation. This is found in Settings -> General
-> Use side switch
to...

Unfortunately this option isn't available on the iPhone it seems. Thelock
orientation option is in
the Control Center though, The options are, from left to right: Airplane Mode,
WiFi, Bluetooth,Do
Not Disturb, Lock Orientation. Under this row of toggles is the Brightness
control and under that
are the Music controls, then things like Calculator, Clock, Flashlight are on
the bottom row.

Go to the Control Center, either from Settings, or by touching the status bar
and doing a 3 finger
swipe up. If you then flick through the items, there will be a lock orientation
button which you can

Re: locking orientation

2014-03-11 Thread Todd W
Ray,

Are you on an iPhone or iPad? If you're on an iPad you can set the side
switch behavior to either mute/unmute or lock/unlock orientation. This is
found in Settings -> General -> Use side switch to...

Unfortunately this option isn't available on the iPhone it seems. Thelock
orientation option is in the Control Center though, The options are, from
left to right: Airplane Mode, WiFi, Bluetooth,Do Not Disturb, Lock
Orientation. Under this row of toggles is the Brightness control and under
that are the Music controls, then things like Calculator, Clock, Flashlight
are on the bottom row.

I can't make any of that work when I go into control center I see nothing that

locking orientation and three finger swipes are physically difficult so there
has to gbe another way
to do that?

Re: Locking Orientation was RE: searching the app store

2013-04-29 Thread Lisa belville
Simon, I got this to work earlier today by opening the app switcher and them
moving page by page using a three finger horizontal swipe from left to
right. Assuming you're using the phone in portrait orientation, place three
fingers at the left most corner of the screen above the home button and move
them toward the right side of the screen without lifting a finger from the
screen. When I did this gesture, there was a progress tone like the one you
hear when moving from page to page on a web page. The lock orientation
button was on page two at the right most corner of the app switcher.

I did have to repeat this gesture more than once in order to get the pages
to move forward.

What I have tried to do is use the ITunes application to search for
the apps I am looking for without success to find them I ended up
going to either itunes.com or the providers website to find the app.
I suspect this is neither a simple or smart way to do this How is it
done if it can be done through the app?

RE: Locking orientation

2013-04-28 Thread Ray T. Mahorney
what I missed was the button on the bottom left of the screen mentioned in
audio which was
referenced in a different thread. Was not sure about the performance of the
three finger swipe but
surprise, surprise! I managed to make that happen first go.

Go in to the app switcher by double tapping home button.
Three finger swipe left to get to page 2.
