Trouble updating itunes to the latest version

Hi,  
Yesterday I went to apple software updates and noticed there was an update so I 
asked it to install.  
After a few minutes I got an error message telling me that it was not installed 
properly and to try updating again.  
I’ve done this several times with no success.  I get a message telling me to go 
to tools and updates and try to update manually.  
When I try to open itunes I get an error telling me the program couldn’t start 
because msvcr80.dll is missing from my computer.  I’ve never deleted anything.  
All I want to do is update itunes to the latest version with no ill affect so 
question is, how do I do this.

Jen! I installed the ITunes update, and I had the same issues. I ended up 
uninstalling ITunes bonjour and apple application support. You do all of this 
by going into  your control panel, hit add remove programs, and choos ITunes, 
bonjour, and apple application support from the list. Once you remove these 
things, go to  apple software and you should be able to  install ITunes. It 
worked for me.

So do you have to uninstall all 3 or just apple support and bonjour.

You need to uninstall all three you need to uninstall iTunes Bonjour and Apple 
application support. Then, you can reinstall iTunes.

It doesn't matter in which order you uninstall iTunes, Bonjour, and Apple 
application support. Just uninstall those three things, and you should be able 
to update iTunes.

Hi,

 

I had a real hard time.  It even screwed-up my Outlook 2010.  I tried 
everything without results until I removed all Apple software and re-installed 
iTunes.  Fixing Outlook was another matter.  What a mess and, I’m sure its not 
my doing.  Apple really messed-up that one.

 

The good news is that I didn’t lose anything except a lot of hours of my time.

After a few minutes I got an error message telling me that it was not installed 
properly and to try updating again.  

I’ve done this several times with no success.  I get a message telling me to go 
to tools and updates and try to update manually.  

When I try to open itunes I get an error telling me the program couldn’t start 
because msvcr80.dll is missing from my computer.  I’ve never deleted anything.  
All I want to do is update itunes to the latest version with no ill affect so 
question is, how do I do this.
