RE: accessible 800 phone service?

International considerations for this number at least is not a concern. My
business is a state vendor and my other clients are also California based.

Let me ask, it sounds like some of the free features in GV are paid add-ons
(call blasting, texting), what about call waiting or being able to answer more
than one incoming call at the same time while already engaged on the line?

Hi Cristobal,

Also keep in mind that some of these services work well for people outside the
US where Google Voice is not really supported. Here in Canada I can’t even get
Skype-In numbers and it makes little sense for me to get an American Skype
number. I can’t even get a local phone number to use as a Voip number or port
my existing business number to a Voip service at this time. This is possible in
the larger cities, but in the smaller communities and more remote areas of
Canada there still is little competition and local numbers are not available
for Voip or porting.

I’m a bigtime Google Voice user and use the texting as well as call
forwarding/filtering features with a separate Skype number as a backup and
secondary number for my business.

I’ve been contemplating getting an 800 number as work has expanded beyond my
local area to more state wide.

Can anyone comment on how flexible any of these 800 number services are in
regards to forwarding to other numbers and or texting? I know worse comes to
worse, I can always keep my GV number for strictly texting purposes, but GV
being able to forward to multiple numbers is incredibly helpful. I have it go
to my Skype number at my main desktop as well as my dedicated business cell in
case I have to step away from the PC. The Google Voice as well as the GVConnect
iOS apps for iPhone are completely accessible which facilitates things too.

Any input would be helpful.

The reviews between two of the big cloud-based phone service companies,
Ringcentral and Grasshopper, seem to indicate the both have comparible
features, but a slightly different approach. It seems Ringcentral’s support is
rated somewhat better although I tried Ringcentral a few years ago and wasn’t
overly impressed. As with many companies and this is mentioned online,
Ringcentral is outsourcing support mostly to the Philippines and I certainly
had a few people on the line back then where there was a bit of a language
barrier. Grasshopper claims their support is in the US (Florida) and that they
encourage customers to call support any time whereas Ringcentral encourages
customers to use the Ringcentral.com for support first and only if really
necessary to call support.

My guess is that Grasshopper may have stepped up a bit because in todays
connected world online reviews can be very damaging and I don’t think in the
long run any company can afford to have consistently bad reviews. I signed up
for a Grasshopper toll free number and will try it for 30 days since they say
they have a 30-day money back guaranty. I have downloaded the app and it seems
very accessible where with Ringcentral there were a few issues if I remember
correctly.

Seighard,

That’s correct. So say you have 10 people workng for you and you want 5 of
those to answer the calls then call blasting would basically blast all of those
at the same time and then whoever picks up would take the call.

That is true for many people, but there still are many people who don’t have
unlimited calling included in their cell plans because maybe they only have a
prepaid service and I think there still is a place for toll free numbers which
themselves have become very inexpensive and still show customers that a
business cares about letting them get in touch at no cost to them, it’s just
good customer service. I currently don’t have a toll free number since my
retail business so far has been primarily local and regional although that does
include some communities or cities nearby which are long distance. Nobody has
really complained, but now I have a website and we are very actively trying to
market it and to build our online sales and I think a toll free number is once
again something I should have as the primary contact number on our website.

Truthfully, from what I’ve seen is that between cell services and the really
inexpensive long distances plans most landline users have any more, other than
for PR purposes, there really is no need for 800 service anyway. My cell
service has free long distance service for the United States, my landline would
cost more by the time I add in phone features, if I didn’t take the flat rate
long distance.

For a brand new affiliate like GDUIES, I’d probably think about not worrying
too much about the 800 number, although I understand that almost everyone who
counts has one for one reason or another. Truthfully, when I have a choice to
call a non-800 number or an 800 number, I choose the local number because I
hate the thought of paying the phone companies double.

If you have an 800 number from Grasshopper, Ringcentral or any other company
that offers cloud-based business grade phone systems they can be forward to
whatever you want. I am going to try out Grasshopper and set up an account
yesterday with a toll free number and I set it up so any calls to the toll free
number will be forwarded to my cell phone. You can even set it up to only
forward during certain hours during weekdays and weekends or make a complete
custom schedule.
You can then make outgoing calls from the Grasshopper app and the people you
call will see my toll free number on their call display and not my cell number.
For $10 a months you can add SMS to this as well.
Call blasting is another $10 a months, this will I believe allow you to set up
multiple phone numbers and any calls will simultaneously ring all the numbers
you set up and I guess whoever picks up first is answering the call.

The American Council of the blind of Minnesota used to use grasshopper, and we
found they had absolutely horrible customer service. We use magicJack now, but
all we do is lie phone support. We don't meet or have mailboxes.
Hopefully, grasshopper has improved. It really did have some very cool features.

RE: accessible 800 phone service?

2016-05-15 Thread Cristóbal

I have downloaded the app and it seems
very accessible where with Ringcentral there were a few issues if I remember
correctly.

Sieghard

RE: accessible 800 phone service?

2016-05-15 Thread Donald Moore
Long gone are the days when you only had a choice of a couple of services.
Depending on your phone and computer access Some of the internet services can
be very reasonable. Vonage Magic Jack and others. You can sometimes get
better quality from many of the traditional phone carriers also, but, in
general convenience means higher costs.

Good luck.
