RE: apple pay question

2017-04-10 Thread Jennie Facer
Hi Chris,

To use Apple pay, you have to set up a card to use with it like your credit
card you have on file for Apps. Go to settings to do this. Once it is all set
up, press the home button twice quickly when it is locked and then you can pay
at stores that accept Apple Pay. I hope this helps a little bit.

Hi all,

I just got my IPhone SE on Saturday. I see it has apple pay.

I would like to know how would I use this feature?

If anyone can please provide me with some tips, I would appreciate it.

RE: Apple Pay question

2016-10-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Denise,

Here is a link to a pretty comprehensive support article from Apple about how
to use Apple Pay in various situations:
https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201239

The short answer to your question is contained in this article, I copied and
pasted it below:

Pay with a different card instead of your default card
To switch cards on your iPhone, hold your device near the reader without
resting your finger on Touch ID.
When your default card appears, tap it, then tap the one that you want to use.
Rest your finger on Touch ID to pay.

On your Apple Watch, double-click the side button.
When your default card appears, swipe left or right to switch cards. Hold your
watch near the reader to pay.

Of course as a Voiceover user you have to double tap your default card and then
double tap your other card.
I found that it also works if I double tap my secondary card and then double
tap it again, but just double tapping it once will not select it.
Lastly, if you want to do this without holding the phone up to the reader you
can double press the home button twice quickly from the lock screen. This
brings up Apple Pay, now double tap your default card and then your secondary
card. Now hold the phone near the reader and put your finger on the Touch Id
sensor.

Regards,
Sieghard

Mark,

I think what I've been doing may have more to do with ignorance than any
setting I have. I think the next time I use apple pay, I'm going to try it from
the lucked screen as you described and expect I'll love it even more if that
works as I'm betting it will.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Hi,

When you go to check out at a store, and you have multiple cards, as soon as
you hold your phone up to the NFC reader, you’ll get a screen asking you to
select which card you want to use. Make sure the card is selected, and hold
your finger on the home button, and boom, all done.

Hello,

I don't get to use Apple Pay as much as I would like because of the lack of
merchants that accept it. Mark, you gave me good reason to check my settings to
see if I would be notified each time which dard I would like to use. I went "to
settings under "Passport and Apple Pay" and didn't see any option to turn this
on. Am I missing something? Under the default card button, I could change the
credit card there, but nothing else was said about selecting a different card
at checkout. Please advise on where I can find this setting.

As far as I'm concern, Apple Pay is probably the most secure method to complete
a transaction. Everytime I go into a store that is not on the Apple Pay band
wagon, I ask if they except it. Usually, They don't even know what I'm talking
about. Go figure that out.

Best,
Eileen

Mary that would be quite insecure. Yes you need to use your finger
print to accept the payment. I've been using it for a few months and
really like it.

RE: Newbie Apple Pay question

2015-09-27 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Alan,

You must have your settings setup to require that you select your credit card
of choice each time you use Apple Pay.

In my case, even when the phone is locked, at the time of purchase, I simply
place my finger on the Touch ID, and hold the phone very near the terminal, and
that's all. When the phone is close enough to the terminal, the ApplePay logo
appears on the phone's display, then the phone vibrates indicating that the
transaction was successful, and that's all. After that, I simply return the
phone to it's previous location as the screen turns off, once again.

The entire process takes no more than 5 to 8 seconds.

It's a beautiful thing. And the best part is that major grocery stores are
beginning to accept Apple Pay.

Mary and all,

Yes, you need to use touch ID to authenticate the purchase. Also, the device
uses a specialized ID number, that gets tied to your actual card from your bank.
It’s one of, if not the most secure methods of payment I’ve ever seen.

One other thing I forgot to mention. One place I use Apple Pay, Rubio's
Mexican Grill, asks if the amount is correct on the terminal and I must hit
a "Yes" button to finish the transaction. Unfortunately, this is all
visual, so I have to ask for help.

Also, sometimes Walgreens ask a question on the terminal such as would you
like to donate...etc.

It kind of defeats the whole idea of "touch and go" ,in my opinion.

Re: Apple Pay question

2015-08-12 Thread Chuck Dean
My experience has been that Apple Pay will not announce the amount of
purchase before I pay, therefore, it has the same disadvantage as any other
payment process.

Also, while the iPhone will store payment information, for a short period
of time, in the passbook app, the Apple Watch does not.

I rely on my credit card app to monitor my purchases.
I use Apple Pay every day and so far I have had no problems

2015-08-12 Thread Brent Harding
It does when you do it in the app, but I don't think the phone knows the charge
before you do it. When you tap the touch ID, it accepts it and then you can
find out.

I am pretty sure it does, but in any case, you can’t independently verify
what is on the terminal if you do a regular credit card or debit card
transaction.

I would like to ask a related question. When one uses Apple pay, does voice
over verbalize the amount being charged? I ask because I don't want to
authorize a purchase unless I can independently verify the amount I am being
charged.

Hi Neil. Each time you make a purchase, it shows up in the passbook app. So
yes, it's kind of like your own statement.
