iPhones on Consumer Cellular network

2016-11-21 Thread Cher Bosch
Has anyone who switched to Consumer Cellular found that they lost any phone
functionality. I was told by one of their reps that there is a possibility
that some features may not transfer from our AT&T network to theirs. Thanks
for sharing your experiences.

RE: iPhones on Consumer Cellular network

2016-11-21 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Cher,

I have installed two iPhones on Consumer Cellular with no issues. I think they
are a great service and they will also save you a ton of money. Their tech
support is great.

When switching from a major carrier to a reseller, things like visual

RE: iPhones on Consumer Cellular network

2016-11-22 Thread Richard Turner
I have only had Consumer Cellular, so I cannot speak to what happens when you
change from a major carrier, but Consumer Cellular has an app that shows your
minutes used, text messages used and data used. Granted, it is 24 to 48 hours
before you can truly trust the numbers. They also have a policy to alert you
via Email when you are approaching your monthly limit. Plus, now instead of
charging a penalty if you go over, they simply bump you up to the next level,
which is usually only $10 and since you ccan change plans monthly if you want
to, you can just change back at the start of the next month.
I've never fully understood the visual voice mail stuff, but voice mmail works
great and I don't have to call in to get it, it is just there on the phone.

HTH,
Richard

RE: iPhones on Consumer Cellular network

2016-11-22 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Kelly,
I am not sure I totally understand your question. When you switch over to
Consumer Cellular you will still have a way to check how many talk minutes,
text, and data you use. It still is listed under setting/cellular. Also
consumer Cellular has an app that is totally accessible and it list all your
usage on the simple to use app. Did you know that Consumer Cellular is owned by
A T&T. So you are using the same towers as everyone who is on A T&T. Just for
your information. My last bill was only $25.00 for the month. Then I have my
wife on my plan for $10.00. So to have to iPhones on Consumer Cellular only
cost me $35.00 a month. I know on Verizon it would have cost me around $140.00
for two iPhones. So I think that is quite a saving. That price is based on the
amount of talk, data I used. I would encourage any of you to go to
Consumercellular.com and check it out. You can also give them a call as they
have great tech support and would be able to tell you what it would cost you to
use their service. It is very easy to switch over. All you have to do is call
them and have them send you a free sim card for your iPhone and when you get it
you put it in and give them a call. They will switch you over and you can keep
your same phone number. They will take you off your old carrier for you and you
will be connected to Consumer Cellular. It is that easy.

One thing I should mention. If you only have an iPhone do not put the sim card
in right away that you get from Consumer Cellular. If you do you will not have
phone service. I would call them first for instructions if you only have the
one phone. If you have another phone to call them on then you can install the
sim card then call them on the other phone.
If you do not know how to install a sim card I would call them and their tech
can assist you. You might want to have a sighted person with you when you do
this just in case you have trouble installing the sim card. It is really easy.
I just gave my wife a paper clip and there is a hole on the side of the iPhone
and you ben the paper clip to use the end to put in the hole and push it in to
release the sim card. Out comes the old sim card. Put the new sim card in and
push it back in and you are done installing the sim card.

consumer Cellular has an app that is totally accessible and it list all your
usage on the simple to use app.

When switching from a major carrier to a reseller, things like visual voice
mail and keypad codes that display the number of minutes and data used are not
available to the customer of the reseller. Losing these frills is worth the
savings for me.

O2 is very good and has been rated the no.1 network for years and I can see
why. Very good to excellent coverage to nearly all of the country, customer
service is free to O2 mobiles which in our experience when we were with them in
the past, we never really needed them, plus their prices are very competitive
to our other providers Vodafone, Three and EE which is a merger between Orange
and our version of T-mobile.

Richard,

That's what I thought visual voice mail was? Just being there on the phone.

FYI, since I own my phone, and I assume you guys do as well, I am using an AT&T
plan sold under their "Go Phone" brand, which is 3gb of data and unlimitted
voice for $40 per month (no contract required); is Consumer really that much
less? I know T-mobil is slightly less at around $30 per month (but they limit
the voice minutes), so I am curious about Consumer?

Thanks.

Wow!
That is cheaper than Consumer Cellular for twice the data and way more minutes

RE: iPhones on Consumer Cellular network

2016-11-22 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi Pablo,
Like I said in my previous email on this subject Consumer Cellular is own by A
T & T, so you will have the same single strength as being on A T & T. I believe
4 gig of data on Consumer Cellular is $40.00 and 1000 minutes of talk time is
$20.00. That is the nice thing about Consumer Cellular is you choose how many
minutes and data you want. If say you choose 4 gig of data and you only use 1.5
gig of data you can lower it down to 1.5 gig right at the end of the billing
cycle and save you self $20.00. Like myself I chose 500 mb and say I would use
1.5 gig they would move me up to that level after I go over the 500 mb. So say
the next month I see I am only going to use 400 mb I would change it back to
500 mb and save $5 or $ 10 bucks depending on where it was before I moved it
back to where I want it. If you do not understand all this you really don't
have to worry about it as they adjust your plan according to how much you use.
You will get an email telling you if you are getting close to the amount you
have chosen.
I think if you are with any of the big carriers and you move to Consumer
Cellular you will cut your bill in half or less. Also since your bill is a lot
cheaper you can buy your iPhone from them if you like and make payments for it
and your bill will still be lower than the big carriers.
Give them a call at (888) 345-5509 and they can explain it all to you. I will
bet you will find it a lot cheaper than the big carriers. What do you have to
lose by calling them and asking your questions.
Mr. Ed

Well, but what about the data cost? With data just for 4gb, is around 90$ What
about the quality of signal?
I was using t-mobile for years, but I had to switch for AT&t because the low
quality of signal.

Hi Kelly,
I am not sure I totally understand your question.
Mr. Ed

When switching from a major carrier to a reseller, things like visual voice

chip,
After thinking about that, is that per phone?
My wife and Iseparate numbers and share the minutes and data.
We don't use tminutes, and don't use the 1.5 gb, so unless that $40 got
unlimited minutes and even half the data each, we'd end up spending a lot more
for stuff we probably wouldn't use.

RE: iPhones on Consumer Cellular network

2016-11-22 Thread Mr. Ed
Chip,

I get 500 mb for that price. If I want 1.5 gb it would be $5.00 more. If I want
2 gb it would be $15.pp more. If I want 4 gb it would be $25.00 more. I think
those are the correct numbers. I am going by memory.

Those prices I gave you are to be added to my $35.00 cost and that would be for
two iPhones.

So I don’t pay for more than I use. If I go on vacation or something and use
more than I pay for it. Other than that if I am at home I am not paying for 2
or 4 gb that I am not using and saving myself the money.

Like I said you have to go to their site and look at the prices for talk and
data.

Thanks.

I've never fully understood the visual voice mail stuff, but voice mmail works
great and I don't have to call in to get it, it is just there on the phone.

data used are not available to the customer of the reseller. Losing
these frills is worth the savings for me.

Hi

Is That $40.00 plan you are talking about is it for one iPhone? So I assume if
you have two iPhones on it, it would be $80.00? I have two iPhones on
Consumer Cellular for $35.00. I think it really depends on how much talk and
data you use as to which plan would be cheaper.

Wow!

That is cheaper than Consumer Cellular for twice the data and way more minutes
as we have 250 minutes and 1.5 GB of data for $5.00 more than whayou are
paying.

I'll have to check into that.

sometimes I need to work on the bus, or traveling, so I use a lot of data. $90

Hi Pablo,
Like I said in my previous email on this subject Consumer Cellular is own by A
T & T, so you will have the same single strength as being on A T & T.

Hi Kelly,
I am not sure I totally understand your question.
They will switch you over and you can keep

will be connected to Consumer Cellular. It is that easy.

If anyone is interested in low priced cell phone service, check out
the website MVNO News. It has a list of the lowest priced cell phone
service from resellers. consumer Cellular is not listed because it is
owned by a carrier. As was stated earlier, if you can download audio
books and app updates on WIFI you will likely use under one or two
gigs. With the money saved, one can upgrade sooner to a new iPhone or
buy expensive programs like k1000.

Hi Kelly,
If you are going to post a website where you tell someone to go look at
something at a certain website please post the link to the page you are
quoting. This would really help as I went to MVNO News that you suggested and
all I found was news. I don't have ten years to look around a website and try

you are quoting as that would help a lot of people out like myself.

Hi

Is That $40.00 plan you are talking about is it for one iPhone? So I assume if
you have two iPhones on it, it would be $80.00? I have two iPhones on
Consumer Cellular for $35.00. I think it really depends on how much talk and
data you use as to which plan would be cheaper.

That is cheaper than Consumer Cellular for twice the data and way more minutes
as we have 250 minutes and 1.5 GB of data for $5.00 more than whayou are
paying.

I'll have to check into that.

HTH,
Richard

When switching from a major carrier to a reseller, things like visual
voice mail and keypad codes that display the number of minutes and
data used are not available to the customer of the reseller. Losing
these frills is worth the savings for me.

FYI, The Go Phone AT&T plan for $40 for one line has just now been modified to
give you 4gb of data per month (with a rollover option to carry unused data to
the next month) for those who want a lot of data for a single line.

For a single line it seems very good (unlimited voice), but when my wife
