Not sure I agree it’s petty as it decreases efficiency if one is dependent on
braille. I do agree though with those who say there is no such thing as bug
free software.

Well said, Scott!!

There is always something to gripe about. No software is going to be bug free,
and this is a small thing, because for the most part, there are workarounds. I
could see getting upset if they took accessibility away from us permanently,
but this is petty. Come on, now. We all have our thoughts, and I’m not trying
to change yours, Davy, but just be thankful for what you have and not so

Right. Google Play Books just now got the ability to turn pages when
TalkBack gets to the end of the current page. As of like a few weeks ago.

I'd be interested in what exactly these iOS 16 bugs are you mention. At this
point iOS 16 is about as mature as it will get with as few issues as iOS 15.
Just today the iOS 16.6 public beta was released and it is likely that iOS
16.6 will be the final version of iOS 16, there may of course be several
third level updates, e.g. there will be iOS 16.6, there may be iOS 16.6.1,
iOS 16.6.2 etc., but in two weeks iOS 17 will be introduced at WWDC, by late

That is the case, but for all people reading kindle books or have other

should avoid iOS 16 at this time and the bug Davy described is I assume not an

2023-05-22 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I don't use a braille display with my iPhone by choice, although, if I
wanted, I could use my BI40X display. It is very common to have
braille bugs when an update for IOS comes out. This is nothing new
and shouldn't surprise anyone. I strongly urge anyone who isn't
updated to IOS 16, to do so. There are certain apps, like audible
for example, that need and want you to update to the latest version of
IOS to work properly. Good luck.

Hi,

I’m seeing an issue with Kindle and Voice dream Reader where everything works
fine until I get to the end of a page. The next page opens normally, but once
it does, all four thumb keys on my braille display stop working. I hear a thunk
sound when I press one, and nothing changes on the display. If I press Home, I
am unable to navigate with the thumb keys. Restarting VoiceOver is the only way
I have found to fix the problem. After that, panning works fine until I try to
use Kindle or voice dream Reader again. Apple Books works fine. Are these the
same problems the rest of you are seeing?

I sent a bug report about this a week or so ago. Unfortunately, the problem
remains in beta 1 of iOS 16.6.

Best,
Anna

The thumb keys of the brail display functioning as panning keys do not work

This bug has been introduced in ios16.5.
DO COMPLAIN with Apple NW!

I agree with Ed. Also, David coupons messages when reading with voiceover sounds like it’s in another language even though it’s technically an English it’s reading in a different text to speech voice and it sounds really weird. Even though, I have my language automatically set to English and I have an English voice. Perhaps he used a non-English keyboard to write in English I don’t know, but anyway, hopefully they’ll fix it. At least the Apple will hopefully fix the braille issue they usually do. Hi,

I’m seeing an issue with Kindle and Voice dream Reader where everything works
fine until I get to the end of a page. The next page opens normally, but once
it does, all four thumb keys on my braille display stop working. I hear a thunk

I have found to fix the problem. After that, panning works fine until I try to

Re: new tramendous brail panning bug for all brail devices DO NOT UPDATE to ios16.5

2023-05-22 Thread Anna Dresner

Best,
Anna

2023-05-22 Thread Scott Davert
Hello.
I'm currently using a Focus 14, but have also used a Brailliant BI
20X. I did not experience general panning issues, but am seeing some
problems with the Kindle app. Maybe others are having similar issues
and I'm not aware?

new tramendous brail panning bug for all brail devices DO NOT UPDATE to ios16.5

2023-05-22 Thread davycuppens
Folks

For brail users please do NOT update to ios16.5 and report to Apple
accessibility NOW, do it NOW!

The thumb keys of the brail display functioning as panning keys do not work
as they should, if you press them, sometimes they do mostly they don't.

This bug has been introduced in ios16.5.
DO COMPLAIN with Apple NW!
