One way to cut down on traffic on this list is to discover that a question has already been answered multiple times and to not assume that the questioner needs to be reminded over and over again. Believe me, it's not that I mind being wrong, I just see wasted resources when the same question has to be answered multiple times. I do have one question for you. What causes the sending of an image to time out? Is it that the image is unrecognizable, or is it that the image never arrives at the destination. Thanks for your answer. I will be much wiser now in explaining how this app works when I do my demo of numerous apps. Thanks again for writing and for making this amazing app available. The image is first sent out to our database, if it is not able to recognize it then it is sent out to crowdsourcing. TapTapSee, as mentioned, can take up to five images at a time and will identify them in order they are received. The images then get deleted, they are not stored on the user's device. Therefore, there's no need to look for a clear button. The repeat button helps a user repeat the last identified result, in case it was missed. The app takes a few seconds to identify an image. Thus, once an picture is taken, the user should wait a moment for it to be recognized and for the identification to be read back to the user. Re: Replacing the stock Vocalizer voices on jailbroken iOS devices (tested on iOS 6.1.2).
For Mac users, I hear that the Transmit SSH client can be used in place of WinSCP. Cheers! I have personally repeatedly performed all the steps described below and extensively tested the outcome obtaining 100% positive results. Nevertheless, you do this at your own risk and I can not be held responsible if anything goes wrong or if performing these steps results in any Apple or Vocalizer license infringements. I used a PC running Windows 7 64bit, but the process should be exactly the same on any version of Windows. I suggest you read through the entire guide before beginning, make sure you fully understand each step and ask questions if you don't. OK, here we go! 1: Open Cydia then search for and install OpenSSH. 2: On your device, make sure wifi is turned on and navigate to settings wifi network name more info (Where network name is the name of the network your connected to) and make a note of your ip address. 3: Using a program such as putty on Windows or the terminal on OSx, connect to your iPhones newly installed SSH server using the ip address we've just found. 4: Login with the following credentials: User: root Password: alpine 5: Type passwd without the quotes and change your password by following the onscreen instructions. This step is not essential but it is important for the security of your device. 6: You now need a method of transfering files to/from your device; Putty comes with a console app called psftp that will do this, however, WinSCP is much more friendly, so I suggest you use it instead. Unfortunately I'm unsure of what options you have if you're running OSx. You will need to authenticate again when logging in with WinSCP; the user will still be root however the password will now be the new password that you created in the step above. 7: Download the voice that you want from http://www.vocalizer-nvda.com/en/downloads.htm. Change the file extension of the downloaded file from nvda-addon to zip so you can access what is inside. 8: On WinSCP, navigate to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/VoiceServices.framework/TTSResources/ on your device. In there you should see subfolders with language and region codes, such as en-US (United States English), en-GB (British English) or es-MX (Mexican Spanish). The voice data inside any of these folders can be replaced with any voice you want. For the sake of this guide, we'll be replacing Daniel (en-GB) with Tom, but other combinations will work as well). Enter one of these folders, I.E., en-GB. You will see a file called broker.hdr, a few dat files, and a text file called user_rules.txt. This rules file is custom written by Apple, and it can be used as a dictionary (ever wondered why your iDevice pronounces artists like Rihanna correctly? Well, there you go). You can either leave it as is, or replace it with the file from the language you're installing, I.E., since I'm replacing Daniel with Tom, I could use the rules file from the en-US folder instead of the one inside en-GB. If the original voice and the one you are installing both speak the same language, I suggest you use the rules file that is larger. Now, go ahead and make a backup of this folder in case you mess something up - E.G. copy paste all the files inside the folder to a folder on your computer. 9: We'll now prepare the voice data. Lets look at the NVDA vocalizer file. When you open the adon's zip file/folder you downloaded, you will see a locale folder, which contains strings for NVDA, and a folder with the language code (for Tom it's enu), and you want to go there. Inside there will be only a speech folder so enter that as well. Now you'll see 2 folders, components, and vautov5. The components folder will have a bunch of dat files. You will definitely need these 3 (languagecode and voicename will change depending on what voice you're working with): clc_languagecode_cfg3.dat clc_languagecode_voicename_cfg3.dat select_voicename_bet2f22.dat The 4 files below these contain the voice data for each of the standard compressed, standard uncompressed, premium compressed and premium uncompressed variants: synth_voicename_dri40_155mrf22_270_06.dat, is the standard variant, which has a bunch of compression on it. synth_voicename_dri40_vssq5_f22.dat is the standard uncompressed version, which sounds very similar to the premium variant. next is synth_voicename_full_155mrf22_270_06.dat, this is the premium variant, again, the one which has compression on it. This is the one iOS downloads for Siri. And, not surprisingly, below that, is

Here are a couple of samples of what I found. iFortress - Protect Private Documents and Confidential Files. $10. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ifortress-protect-private/id479733580?mt=8 Folder Lock for iPad. $6. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/folder-lock-for-ipad/id434583359?mt=8 Hopefully someone else who has thoroughly researched this field of computing will add more information as such a tool can help lots of us maintain privacy in the event we lose our IOS device. I know this list well enough to know that someone will post that one can add a password when turning on an IOS device, I'm not referring to that in this particular thread. Re: Barcode apps, please help.
Hello Anne, Annie, Traci and Others, In general, camera apps and scanner apps use a button just above the Home button at the bottom of the screen. As Anne described, this button on the RedLaser app is labeled Bolt. Anne, the U.S.-centric only product databases of the RedLaser app date primarily from when eBay bought the RedLaser barcode scanning app from the original developers, Occipital. Up until that time, you had more options to search with barcode scan results, including using your local Google or other search engine. For a while, two versions of the app were kept available: RedLaser and RedLaser Classic. The RedLaser Classic version was a continuation of the original app as Occipital implemented it. I have this version, and stopped updating it, so I can still use the orginal app version separately. However, as of January 2013, the last update for RedLaser Classic puts up constant nag messages to update to the RedLaser app that eBay owns. If you read the app reviews, anyone who updated to that version lost all the general barcode scanning capability that was not tied to the eBay databases. There's no alternative current RedLaser version that is useful for people outside the U.S. and Canada, but if you happen to have one of the old versions of the RedLaser Classic app you can use that. Or you can try Annie's suggestion of Best Barcode Scanner - Scan QR Code by SimpleAct, Inc., which does seem to be very fast. Cheers, Esther On Apr 23, 11:59 am, Annie Skov Nielsen annieskovniel...@gmail.com wrote: Hello Anne. I have found another app, that works great especially if you use your standscan pro. It works also quite good without standscan pro. Best barcode scanner from simpleact inc. It searches for the barcodes on google. Readlaser is also a great app, but you are right it is not having many barcodes here in Denmark too, but it does have some barcodes. Digit-eyes is in my opinion to difficult to use, you will have to know exactly where the barcode is located, that is not the case with the two other apps. Again both redlaser and best barcode scanner (qr code) works like a dream with standscan pro, that is not the case with digit-eyes. Cheers Annie. Re: Replacing the stock Vocalizer voices on jailbroken iOS devices (tested on iOS 6.1.2).
Hello, I need some purification on how to change a compacted voice over voice to a premium variant. How do I do this?

I'm booking a flight...the form field is credit card type. So, I go ahead and activate the picker...swipe up or down to go through the selections...master card, visa, american express, discover. The second I swipe up or down just once, it kicks me out of the picker and selects that first choice automaticly. I don't want that to happen, I want to swipe down till i see visa, then click done. spotify hiding the menu and what favourite?
Hello, After a bit of experimenting spotify is a lot clearer now. I can find the old now playing screen and have been working to add to my favourites playlist. I wonder htough is it possible to hide the menu that now contains the search playlists and settings etc items? Because even though it apparently is not activated by the toggle on the screen so you cant click the items voiceover still read them when you switpe over the screen and can cause confusion (because you dont know when the menu is toggled) and cluttter. I was also wondering what the favourite button is for since it does not seem to add a song to any playlist? Is there somewhere a spotify tutorial i can read? Image to Text - OCR. a free OCR app
Hi All, Another free OCR app that can be used with a StandScan Pro is Image To Text - OCR by Ricoh Innovations. There are some cautions about the way this app works. First of all, it only handles OCR in English. Secondly, you send the picture you have taken, or a previously taken picture of text from your camera roll, to the Ricoh Innovations server, where it is processed and mailed back to you with both the original image attached and the extracted OCR text in the messge body. The email comes back very fast (within 15 or 20 seconds in my tests), and is from noreply.imagetot...@rii.ricoh.com with a subject A document has been shared with you via ImageToText iPhone App. You can change this in the Settings by double tapping on Default email address and message, typing in your own message subject and, optionally, email in the To: field, and saving the results. I think the app developer is the research arm of Ricoh Technoligies, who make printers, copiers, and other devices. There are only three tab option screens for the app listed at the bottom of the screen: 1) Start Menu -- the main screen you use, with buttons for Take a Picture and From Gallery, 2) Settings -- gives the app version number and lets you edit the default email address and subject line message that you get back, 3) Help -- gives instructions on using the app. When you double tap on Take a Picture, you'll bring up the camera view finder. The button to take a picture is Shutter Button N 01, just above the home button at the bottom of the screen. There's also a Cancel button in the bottom left corner and a slider for adjusting the field of view, that I leave alone. Once you double tap the Shutter button, your focus will move to the Retake button on the Preview screen. Flick right to the Share button and double tap. Then flick left or do a four finger tap on the top half of the screen to move the Mail button and double tap. You can type in your email address here in the To field if you didn't fill it in previously under settings. This is the one confusing step, since you need to flick left (repeat, flick left, not right) to the Mail button after you double tap the Share button. Then double tap send in the top right corner of the Compose Message screen. The URL of the Image to Text app is: • Image to Text - OCR (free) by Ricoh Innovations, Inc. https://itunes.apple.com/app/image-to-text-ocr/id431757093?mt=8 This is a universal app that is available internationally. Cheers, Esther French Lentil Soup Ingredients 6-8 servings 6 tablespoons olive oil 1 large onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 V2 cups lentils 3 quarts water (more if needed) 1 celery stalk, cut fine 1 turnip, diced 1 bunch sorrel or spinach leaves 1 bay leaf 1 large carrot, finely cut 1 large potato, diced 1 cup tomato sauce salt and pepper to taste V2 cup cooked rice (optional) 1. Pour the olive oil into the soup pot and gently saute the onion and garlic for 2 minutes. Stir continually. 2. Wash and rinse the lentils and add them to the soup pot. Add the water, cut vegetables, and the rest of the ingredients except the salt and pepper and rice. Bring to a boil. Then lower the heat to medium and cook slowly, covered, for 1 hour. 3. Add the salt and pepper and let the soup simmer a short while longer. Remove the bay leaf. Serve hot. Add cooked rice if desired. 1 here are endless varieties of lentil soups. This particular recipe comes to us from France, where two varieties of lentils are grown that can be used for this soup (either the green ones or the dark brown ones). These French lentils are a bit smaller and a bit crunchier than the lentils sold in American supermarkets. This recipe suggests adding rice for the simple reason that the combination of rice and lentils produces the complete protein needed in the daily diet. 24 Download our new free app Scan Pages to easily scan receipts, documents, magazines and make a pdf file: Scan Pages An image has been shared with you via ImageToText mobile app. Please note that this app uses an automatic character recognition engine and its accuracy may vary widely based on the quality of the image, the font type, and other factors. VO Calendar
Hi all, I wonder if Jos is still monitoring this list. One more thing I find is seriously lacking in VO Calendar is the fact that I can't easily see what time an appointment ends. The app almost assumes that every appointment is one hour. It is inconvenient to have to go into more options just to find out what time an appointment ends when wanting to add another. I don't feel comfortable having people wait for me while I fish all over for information as to when I am available when that information should be available up front. If someone knows a way to do this without jumping into the native calendar, please let me know. Ron Danvers Falling down is part of LIFE... Getting back up is LIVING...
