Re: BT headphones for iPhone12 Pro and Max

2021-02-25 Thread Brad Snyder
I have an iPhone 12 Pro, and just like with every other iPhone I have ever
owned, any bluetooth headphones will work just fine.
Just take your pick, and go with them.

Re: Question about reset

2021-02-24 Thread Brad Snyder
The correct term is hard restart.
On your iPhone SE 2020, try the following:
1. Quickly in succession, press the volume up button, followed by the volume
down button.
2. Press and hold the side button for about 5 to 8 seconds.
3. The device will begin the restart process, but will give no sound or haptic
indication that this is happening. After a short period of time, you should
hear voice over speak once the phone has completed the start up sequence.

HTH.

I don’t mean to turn off the phone. It’s like restart.

Hold in the power button it will then allow you to power down, double tap in
the upper left corner. Give it a few seconds and then hold in the power button
for several seconds. If you have any vision the apple will appear. Then
release the button and you should hear when the screen comes up. Then enter
your pass code and you should be good to go.

How can I reset the SE? I tried the same command, but it didn’t work out.

Such a list exist, and you or anyone else can join it by sending a blank email

Glad to hear you got subscribed.
Beware, that list can be a little heavy on traffic sometimes, but I’m sure you
will learn a lot.

You may also want to check out the Dot-2-Dot podcast. Robin Christopherson
does a nice job with this daily podcast, in which he features a different skill
every day.

You can create a Rule to delete messages with certain words/character strings

You can also create a rule to delete messages from a specific sender’s address.
Both of these practices work very well.

You need to download and install iCloud for Windows on your PC.
Once you do this, and complete the setup, iCloud email will just show up in
your Outlook email client.
You should also be aware that the iCloud for Windows interface has some
accessibility issues, but you can enable the JAWS TouchCursor to help with this.

Re: saving up for a new iPhone, should I purchase the 12 pro, or wait for the 13 to come out.

2021-03-03 Thread Brad Snyder
How judge-mental and offensive of you to call those who want iPhones with large
amounts of storage “lazy asses”.
You know nothing of these individuals and why they may want an iPhone with a
large amount of storage, and you show yourself to be quite ignorant and
narrow-minded

voice memos. That being said, big storage is rather popular. I wanted
to upgrade to an iPhone Mini and the 256 GB version was completely
sold out and backorders were not possible because of the high demand.

For those who read 9to5Mac, I did state though that those who crave 1

photos and videos off their phone and onto their computer. Similarly,
they are lazy in not wanting to rotate music out of their iTunes

Re: Setting Spanish as the default languange on iPhone sE

Actually, the way to do this is to select Spanish as your language on the very
first screen of the initial setup of a new iPhone.
Once you have selected Spanish, or any other language other than English, the
iPhones interface will be in the language that is selected.

A text file with an extension of .txt, is an ASCII plain text file, and what
you read as links, are nothing more than text strings, in a plain text file.
In other words, they are not active links, and cannot be acted upon.
You can set your rotor on “Links”, and none will be found, because no active
links are present in the file.

I have a text file with 26 links I need to use for a project. I put
it into dropbox and voice dream reader, thinking that with at least
one application I could activate each link from the text file. The
phone says they are links, so I thought that double tapping on one
would open it in safari and allow me access to the information. Wrong!
It just sits there on the screen and doesn't open anything.

I don't want to make 26 bookmarks to open the respective pages. How
can I activate a link from a text file?

Thanks,

Ann

I have the TV Guide app. I believe the notification you are receiving, is

Re: Overcast saying "Not enough Free space on iPhone" when not so?

2021-03-05 Thread Brad Snyder
Sounds like you’ve got plenty of available storage on both the phone and in
iCloud.
Try rebooting the phone. If that doesn’t do it, I might try clearing out some
stuff from within the Overcast app.

Re: trouble entering pass code on se 2020

2021-03-05 Thread Brad Snyder
Try the following, and see if this will work for you:
1. With the passcode keypad on your iPhone’s screen, touch anywhere on your
iPhone’s screen.
2. Swipe left or right until you locate the first digit of your passcode, then
perform a 1-finger double tap, anywhere on your iPhone’s screen to enter this
digit.
3. Repeat the above procedure until all the digits of your passcode have been
successfully entered, and your iPhone is unlocked.

This method may work better for you than trying to move your finger around the
screen to locate each digit of your passcode.

Re: Duel factor authentication codes

2021-03-05 Thread Brad Snyder
First of all, it is called a 2-Factor Authentication Code.
That said, I have not had an issue entering these codes with VoiceOver enabled.
Can you be more specific about the problem you are having entering the 2-Factor
code.
What device are you attempting to use when entering the code?
Are you having a problem reading the code that has been provided, or are you
having a problem entering the code on your device?

you can go to Settings > TouchID & Passcode, and turn the passcode off.
Keep in mind, that doing this will disable TouchID, and you will not be able to
use ApplePay or any features in the Wallet app.

Re: Surface Pro vs Ipad

2021-02-27 Thread Brad Snyder
The answer to this question is extremely subjective. while the 13 inch iPad Pro
is definitely the superior piece of hardware, the question comes down to which
platform are you most comfortable using. if you're a diehard windows and JAWS
user, then the answer is obvious. if you're comfortable using voiceover and
don't have a problem with the limitations of the iOS environment, then you have
a choice to make. The recommendations of others have nothing to do with what is
the best choice for you. That's a decision you must make on your own.

Re: Can You Transfer Email to Dropbox?

2021-04-12 Thread Brad Snyder
Depending on which email client you are using, you can highlight the mail item
in the mailbox list, and open the applications menu, where you should find an
option to do a Save As. Then you can give the file a name of your choosing and
decide on a folder where you want to save the file.

Alternatively, you could also begin a Reply message, then select the contents
of the message using CTRL + A, then copy the selected text using CTRL + C..
Once copied to the clipboard, you can then paste the contents of the message
into the text editor of your choice, and then save the file for future
reference.

HTH.

If you want to save emails, you should create a saved emails message folder in

Re: Can You Transfer Email to Dropbox?

2021-04-12 Thread Brad Snyder
If your email is setup using IMAP on your current device, you will lose
nothing, because all your email is on your provider’s servers, and not on your
device. Once you setup your email on the new iPhone, everything should be
there. just as it is on your current device.

Re: How to delete an ap from my IPHONE

2021-04-12 Thread Brad Snyder
To delete an app from your iPhone, do the following:

1. Locate the app you would like to delete, and select it by doing a 1-finger
touch.
2. Set your rotor to Actions, and swipe up until you hear VoiceOver say “Edit
Mode”.
3. Now, do a 1-finger double-tap, and you will hear VoiceOver say “Started
Editing”.
4. Swipe up until you hear VoiceOver say “Activate”, and do a 1-finger
double-tap.
5. VoiceOver will now ask if you want to Delete the app, or remove it from the
Home screen. If you choose Delete, the app will be deleted from your device.
If you choose Remove from Home Screen, the app will remain of your device, and
will reside in the App Library.
6. If you choose Delete, you will be asked once again to confirm this is
really what you want to do.

HTH..

Re: iPhone 12 Pro Max questions

2021-04-13 Thread Brad Snyder
Currently I have the iPhone 12 pro, and I had the iPhone X before that. both
are very close in size to the current iPhone SE 2020. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is
much larger.
I had no problem making the switch to the iPhone without a home button. In fact
I found the transfer essentially seamless and the new gestures very natural.
Now, I really prefer an iPhone that does not have a home button.
My wife has the iPhone SE 2020, and while it's a good device, my iPhone 12 pro
is vastly superior. The battery in my 12 Pro last much longer then on my wife's
phone.
It's hard to say if the iPhone 12 pro is worth more than double the money of
the iPhone SE 2020. I think that's a personal choice that must be made by the
individual, but I'm happy I went with the 12 pro and would do it again without
hesitation.

Was it difficult getting used to the larger screen?

Re: Apple Airpods Pro Max

2021-02-12 Thread Brad Snyder
I’m sure it has to do with the Bluetooth radios used in the Streams 2nd
Generation and Treks.
These devices use really old technology, that hasn't updated since the devices
were introduced many years ago, and were not state of the art even then.
Apple on the other hand, uses current state of the art technology, and always
has been a leader in the industry.

Hi,

I like to attend Zoom calls from my phone quite often. I just attended one this
morning that was in webinar format where I could not unmute to ask a question
of a panel. They wanted us to use the Q feature. I can get to this area, but
my question was long and I had hoped to dictate it, but dictate won’t work
while on the call. Any work arounds you can think of this this? On the fly, I
tried to log into the call from my laptop to ask my question, but couldn’t’ get
it loaded in time. Next time, I’ll try to have a Bluetooth keyboard
available, but just curious why dictate couldn’t work and if there is anything
you’ve done in this situation.

Re: 2 separate questions regarding Voicedream

2021-02-13 Thread Brad Snyder
I also am able to play audio content with my VoiceDream app with the screen
locked. I am pretty sure there is a setting for this, but I can’t find it
right now.
I can’t imagine it matters how many apps you have running in your app switcher.
I always close out apps I am not currently using, but i have always heard this
is not necessary, and in fact, this is discouraged by many.

Having it built into reader is just for documents you want in Reader.

I've never had any issue with being able to lock the phone while playing books
of any kind, audio, bookshare, word documents, etc.

Check that you do not have too many things open and your phone is simply
running out of resources.
Close things out of the app switcher and reboot the phone.

Subject: 2 separate questions regarding Voicedream

Hello everyone,

I have 2 separate questions regarding Voicedream.

First of all, I currently have Voicedream Reader. As well as, Voicedream
scanner.

For now, can I use both of these Apps separately?

Does anyone know if eventually this will not be the case?

And if so, would I then have to purchase a pack with both reader, and scanner
together?

My other question is this.

I use reader for different things. But mainly I use it for reading my
audiobooks.

I have noticed in the last week, that sometimes when I start my book
playing, it will stop playing if I lock the screen. One of the things I
like about reader, is that I can lock the screen. There are times I
still can. But lately more times than not, I have to leave my phone
unlocked.

Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Is it new? And is this something I am likely going to have to put up with?

I thought I would ask. I am hoping it's just something strange with my
phone. Although, I highly doubt it.

Thank you,

Terri
