What is the different of VNC & others?
I need to know the differences between different products: VNC PCanywhere Citrix RDP in regards of LINUX / LINUX, Windows 2000 / Windows (CE, ME, ...), and mixed, like Linux / Windows or Windows / Linux I also want to know if any of these products can use the local USB port, even if connected / working on the server. bye Ronald ** Scanned by eScan Content-Security and Anti-Virus Software. KDE Set As Default WM
Hello all, I have 2 questions: 1) Can someone please tell me how to set KDE as my default WM for all vncviewer sessions? I assume that it has to do with the .vnc/xstartup script. I tried modifying the script by replacing "twm" with "kde" and "kdewm" but of course those attempts failed. 2) How do I set my vncserver to automatically start on bootup? RE: Solaris 9 OE & VNC :: Any Experience??
Thanks Corni, That "-query localhost" option did get it working again. However just for clarification, I deleted the "twm &" line from my xstartup file and replaced it with "dtwm &" (with /usr/dt/bin & /usr/openwin/bin in my PATH) and it worked for me for a short while. It also did so without having to do "dtlogin" to the CDE. Then it mysteriously quit working. Also, on Solaris, you still have to "chmod 1777 /tmp/.X11-unix" before trying to run a vncserver or it crashes immediately. So you mean actions like 'Send Ctrl-Alt-Del' on Linux will still reboot the system? Even from the 'view-only' console on :2 ? Its really a 'read-write' session showing a read-only viewer. There are several routes to do so. My idea: Setup a user ('specialuser') and its vncserver setup, including dedicated ~/.vnc/xstartup scripts and vnc-password. Then create an inetd 'commandline' as follows: special-vnc stream tcp nowait specialuser /usr/local/bin/vncserver vncserver -inetd (the above is 1 line). You might add options like '-once' or geometry or depth specifications. However, you can also create a special vncserver script (it's perl, so you must be able to create one) Best NOT to specify the -inetd in the scipt but have that specified from the commandline and pass trough to Xvnc, for easy testing. Note: inetd will start a new session for every connection, so if the sessins do not end automatically, you should specify -once to clear lost sessions. As for the XDMCP options: They are not required if you use inetd, it's just CBee ___ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
