Re: iMac with loud fan
Yep, still haven't met a computer that wont shut down if I keep holding the power button in for 5 or so seconds. Mac or PC. I'm also kind of impressed by the odd set of conditions that power resets and SMC resets, as described by Ronni here, will resolve if not cure when used. iPad 2 verdict
Hi Folks, Just curious as to the thoughts of the early adopters. What is your experience of iPad 2? Have you had the same issues US customers have had? Compared to iPad v1? Re: iPad 2 verdict
Hi Stuart, I am still waiting on delivery of my iPad 2 so I cannot give an opinion as yet. Still 1 - 2 weeks to go before it arrives. A minor consolation is that the Smart Case has arrived! Re: apple mail
Hi Tom, I don’t know what you mean by “some messages refuse to Quit”? Do you mean some messages “some messages refuse to delete”? Try 'Rebuilding the Mailbox'. Select (highlight-click once) the Inbox Mailbox (or what ever Mailbox you have the problem in), then choose Mailbox Rebuild from the Menu Bar Rebuild recreates the index to the messages and does not cause them to be lost. During Rebuild all messages will briefly disappear from the list of messages, but they will reappear. Try to then delete the messages. If this is not your problem post back to WAMUG with more information please. Re: updating ipod software
Hi Ronni Have finally had a successful download and update of the new iPod software (through itunes) with an unusually good network connection this morning, and it only took about 40 minutes! Yay. Now I will see how it goes with the music for next weekend's do! Thanks very much for your support with this Kindest regards Chris On 30/03/2011, at 5:36 PM, Ronda Brown wrote: On 30/03/2011, at 4:41 PM, Chris Burton wrote: Hi Ronni I finally did the download for the ipod 4.3 software today from the link you sent me. I connected my ipod, hit the option key and 'update' button. It extracted the software then a warning box appeared saying: 'This ipod isnt eligible for the requested build'!! Now Im not sure what is going on? I did download the correct software: iPod4,1_4.3_8F190_Restore.ipsw Is there any way of checking this? Do I need to do the 4.3.1 update? Thanks for your help on this. Chris Hi Chris, I don’t know what is going on … ;-) It looks like you will have to resort back to doing the download and install through iTunes 1 Connect your iPod Touch to your Computer (make sure your computer is connected to power not battery) 2. iTunes should open and if you see in the dialog “A newer version of the iPod Touch software is available (version 4.3.1) to update your iPod Touch with the latest software, click Update. Follow the prompts. 3. It will take around 50-60 mins (depending on your download speed) to download. Then iTunes will install the software You can see what version you have installed on your iPod Touch by going into Settings General About Version Cheers, Ronni 17 MacBook Pro Intel Core i7 2.66GHz / 8GB / 1067 MHz DDR3 / 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200rpm OS X 10.6.7 Snow Leopard Windows 7 Ultimate (under sufferance) -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:wamug-unsubscr...@wamug.org.au -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:wamug-unsubscr...@wamug.org.au
Re: iPad2
Thank you Eugene and Susan for your replies. They increased my interest in the iPad and so yesterday I visited the MAXstyle store in Myaree.
