Re: iCloud

2019-04-02 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Peter,

Can you sign into iCloud.com ?
Did you correctly enter the latest code sent?
If you set up your Apple ID to require two-factor authentication or two-step
verification, make sure you correctly enter the latest code sent to your device.

Kind regards,
Ronni

Hi Ronni
Thank you for your response.
I managed to get into the Apple ID account page OK only to find I’m already set
up for two factor authentication, the problem still exists. Should I try
turning off the two factor authentication and then turning it back on?
Kind regards
Peter

 Hi
I have a red circle with a 1 in it on my System Preferences on my
MacBookPro, on going into preferences this symbol is on the iCloud icon in
 there.
I clicked onto this and it asked for my Apple ID and Password, on
supplying this the computer thought for a while and then went back to the
Apple ID screen again. I re entered my ID and Password again and got the
 same result!
I used the ‘Forgot Apple ID or password’ option and reset my password.
Back to the iCloud icon in System Preferences (which still had the red
circle with the 1 in it) and was asked for my Apple ID and Password, when
supplied with that it thought for a while again and then reset to ask for
 Apple ID and Password again.
I have done this several times to ensure that all was entered correctly,
 but no change.
I can access the App Store with the new Apple ID and Password no problem.
If it was just in the System Preferences I would/could just leave it but
it pops up on my screen regularly.
I don’t actually use iCloud, so loss of any information is not a worry,
just the annoying pop up and of course curiosity?
I have made no changes to the computer that I’m aware of.
 I would appreciate any thoughts?

2019-04-02 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Peter,

Peter H would be attending the WAMUG AGM meeting tonight, so unavailable to
reply to your message.
Setup two-factor authentication from your Apple ID account page.

Confirm which feature you're using
If you're not sure if you set up two-factor authentication or two-step
verification, use these steps:
Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
In the Security section, look for two-factor authentication or two-step
verification, then see if the feature is off or on.

If two-step verification is on, continue with the steps to turn it off, then
turn on two-factor authentication. If two-factor authentication is on, then
you're already set up.

Before you can turn on two-factor authentication, you need to turn off two-step
verification. Use these steps:
Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
In the Security section, click Edit.
Click Turn Off Two-Step Verification. Click again to confirm.

You can Follow the full instructions at this Apple support link:
 https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT207198

Kind regards,
Ronni

Re: iCloud

2019-04-02 Thread Peter Curtis
Hi Peter
Thank you for your suggestion!
I don’t have two-factor authentication set up and when I try to set it up
according to APPLE instructions I must go to System Preferences and choose
iCloud, then Security. Only problem is that when I go to System Preferences and
iCloud there is no option to select Security as it’s asking me to put in my
Apple ID then Password and then I go on the roundabout of it asking for Apple
ID and Password continually. The options of General, Contact, Security, Devices
and Payment aren’t there?
So I still have the same problem.
Kind regards
Peter
