G'Day Steven
Logitech V220 has a battery which has lasted for 8 months so far. It has a
feature where the USB receiver when housed in the base of mouse switches it
off for travelling. Occasionally on special at Myer Garden City and Hardly
Normal do a pensioners price.

Re: Mighty Mouse alternative ?

2008-10-26 Thread Mark Secker

if your looking for wireless solutions .

I'm using the Microsoft Notebook Mouse 5000 on my 3 macs--- it's a
"laptop" style mouse (small) but only took a few hours to get used to
it and now prefer it to a full size mouse. was less than $80 office
works (it was about $2 more than the bluetooth Logitech (which again
is a smaller sized laptop style mouse))

battery life is very good, outlasts my Apple bluetooth keyboard by
about 2 1/2 sets of batteries

Only catch is it is fast... really, really fast... at default settings
moving it about 2 cm is enough to send it from one side to the other
of a 20" screen so you need to pull the sensitivity down in the
preferences to minimum

Maybe $~50?

Re: Mighty Mouse alternative ?

2008-10-26 Thread Rosie Cable

Hi

I've been using a Logitech VX Revolution mouse since earlier this
year. This mouse only takes 1 battery, and lasts significantly
longer than the Mighty Mouse used to (which took 2 batteries). I've
also found that it is a very comfortable mouse to work with if you
are using your computer for extensive periods.

This mouse was recommended to me by fellow WAMUG users, and I would
strongly recommend it.

Regards
Rosie

I recall seeing recommendations previously about Logitech mouses.
Is there a particular model Logitech mouse that closely resembles
the Mighty Mouse? Considerations include...

* I use latest Mac OSX.
* I think I prefer a wired mouse rather than wireless because I
can't be bothered replacing batteries
* I don't use Buttons 3 (pressing down the scroll ball) or Button 4
(squeezing the sides) at all, so if that functionality is missing
from a particular Logitech mouse, I don't mind.

Grateful for any recommendations or first-hand experiences.

Cheers, Steven

Re: Mighty Mouse alternative ?

2008-10-26 Thread Dark1
I've had my Logitech MX310 for years and it's a really good mouse but
I don't think it retails anymore. In terms of batteries you can get
really good NiMH batteries from Jaycar at a cheap price and with large
capacity so you don't have to recharge them very often. You could
check the logitech website to see which mouse suits you or speak to
Daniel with the knowledge that if you purchase from him and anything
goes wrong with your mouse or if it doesn't quite work the way it
should Daniel will do everything in his power to sort out the problem.

Ruben

I think I've reached the end of my tether with the Mighty Mouse
scroll wheel problems.

2008-10-25 Thread Severin Crisp
I have a Microsoft optical cord mouse with programable left, right,
forward, back buttons and a scroll wheel. Now several years old with
full on daily use and it has not missed a beat despite now looking
rather shabby. It works straight on the wooden bench top too! Don't
know what the current models are but I would have to give this one a
double tick!

On the other side of the story, we have a Mighty Mouse with our
Macbook, much lighter use but still 100%
