The fact that the text is almost unreadable?  It may look OK on your
800x600 screen but on a hi-res monitor it is mouse print.

You might want to read the forum thread again and think about the word
'Go'.

It's still breaking the user experience of a fully translated game. And can't we
have some column caption instead saying "Ready?" (translatable, of course!) or
would that be too much work with the current GUI code?

Wait, wait. I only see two people who disliked the idea. Buggy seems
to be talking about a problem with the _old_ text-less checkbox, not
my new checkbox; I was interpreting his statement to be on my side.

In other words, he was _in favor_ of having text on the button, as
opposed to just having a blank checkmark.

I retract my earlier statement - with two in favor and two against, I
see no reason to take any action.

Furthermore, Buggy and I both give reasons for leaving the text there,
and I believe I've addressed all of the concerns put forth so far. Are
there any other concerns you have about the text? If you do have
further valid concerns, I'd still be happy to remove the text, it's
just that I currently no longer see any reason to do so.

Disregarding your sarcasm (it's not that I think people should speak
English like everyone else, but that I observe that more of our users
happen to know English than any other language - I would've used
Esperanto if it had been as popular as it was intended to be), we
still have a usable button with a translated tooltip, so I'm pretty
sure it's not any worse than it was before.

like everyone else, but that more of our users happen to know English
than any other language - I would've used Esperanto if it had been as
popular as it was intended to be), we still have a usable button with
a translated tooltip, so I have no idea how this would be any worse.

While I agree with your implicit argument that people should speak
English like everyone else, the button does not look better than it
did before.  'Better than nothing' might be a valid argument if there
*was* nothing there before, but we *did* have a usable button with a
(translated) tooltip.  This is simply not better.

Are you arguing that there is not a single user who understands what
"Ready?" means, not even English speakers?

Otherwise, it is a valid assumption, since it helps comprehension for
at least a portion of the userbase, and leaves the rest of the
userbase no worse off.

I am also noticing furthermore that a significant proportion (not
necessarily all) of foreign players also understand some level of
English, and of the rest, a significant proportion (not necessarily
all) who play multiplayer will understand the word "Ready?" But even
if this turns out to be wrong, the above still holds.

on eventually making one), I'll make it a translatable string. Until
then, this is better than nothing. Especially if it already has a
tooltip that can be translated - whoever can't understand the word
"Ready?" can read the tooltip.

It is inconsistent with the rest of the interface.  If you are going
to put a word there, it should be a translatable string.  Note that
the button already has a tooltip which is translated.

Also it does not look that good.  The text is very small.
