The Mysterious Disapperance of Rance Howard

2006-08-18 Thread jworsham
This is for those of you who are diehard TAGS fanatics. I recently obtained a
copy of the pilot episode that appears to be fully intact, running over 23
minutes. It has an entire scene featuring Will Wright (a.k.a. Ben Weaver) that
is completely omitted from the episode that aired on Nick-at-Nite in the 1980s.

Here's my question. The closing credits list Rance Howard as one of the actors
in the episode. I've searched over and over and I cannot find Mr. Howard
anywhere in the episode. Does anyone know what happened? Maybe he was in a
scene that was later edited out, but my copy doesn't appear to have any edits.
Perhaps he was originally in the episode and it was left on the cutting room
floor before it first aired and they accidentally kept his name in the credits
(I think this happened at least once in a later episode). I thought that maybe
he was one of the cameramen seen in the courthouse interview scene, but neither
of these guys look like Rance and they don't usually credit the folks who don't
have speaking parts. This has got me stumped! What happened to Rance?

This may be one of those big unanserable questions, kind of like "Who played
Mr. Schwamp?" Can anyone out there please shed some light on this for me?

2006-08-18 Thread Nancy Loadholt
Ken,
Hope that the book is a great success.I look forward to adding it to my
Mayberry book collection.
As to chicken owners, the first one to come to mind was the cute little man
that was being evicted and had the chicken in the house when Andy came to serve
the papers. Then there was the man making the "shine" that the rooster got drunk
on the corn.

"Growing up Southern is a privilege. It's more than where you're born, it's
an idea and a state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than lovin'
fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and acoustic guitars. It's being
hospitable, devoted to screen porches, moon pies, sun dropand each other.
We don't become Southern, we're born that way."

TAGS Air Time

2006-08-18 Thread BCunnin107

Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but wasn't there a stink raised when TAGS was
moved from "dinner time" to 9:00? Seems I remember something like "This will
be
the first time TAGS hasn't been on the air during dinner time in ?? years!"
In fact, I am sure I remember this. Now, there seems to be the opposite
argument - "don't take it away from prime time." Looks like they sort of put it

back where it wasOf course, my memory ain't what it used to beAnd
some people don't eat at 5:30What time do the Indians eat?

Pictures of my car tag

2006-08-18 Thread Martin Simmons
Greetings Andy Griffith Show Fans,

Allan, this is really a question for you, but we could all be involved.
I am very proud of my Florida License plate, JL 327. I have the only
one in Florida. Each year I get a new sticker for the renewal, but
every few years they send me another actual plate. I now have FOUR!!!
I would love to send a picture of me and Opie holding them to share
with the WBMUTBB gang! Is there a way we could share pictures of our
favorite Mayberry items that we cherish? I know pictures can start
eating up space and time downloading, but what about a link to them?
Maybe a .Mac account? I had one for awhile and they are great! I just
never took the time to utilize all the features, but this would be fun.
  Let me know your thoughts.

Talk to the car

2006-08-18 Thread Dan Goodwin
My wife has one of those cars with "Bluetooth capabilities" which, best I
can figure, means you can talk to the car. I finally got everything working
on it and you can say things like "Call home" or "Dial David" and it will
make the outgoing call for you.

I'm trying to figure out how to make it recognize "Sarah, get me my house."

Ringtones on Verizon Cellphones

2006-08-18 Thread Dwmckim
Those wanting ringtones on Verizon email PIX capable/enabled cellphones might
be able to send an email with attached .wav or .midi sound file straight to
your cellphone without having to set up an account at ww.vzwpix.com. Not sure
if you have to set up an account or not. To try it just send an email with
attached sound file to yourverizoncellphonenumber@ vzwpix.com (300kb max).
That
is if you don't mind displaying your phone number accross the internet.

Not eggsactly

2006-08-18 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (SBC-OPS)
Boy that's pretty bad when I make a mistake correcting my
mistake--regarding Helen showing Slides to the Sunday School class.

"It was the Mr. Frisbee episode, not Fred Goss"

I guess I got my chicken owners mixed up--so please be kind trained
noticers. It was Orville Hendrix that Aunt Bee had the made-up romance
with not Fred Goss and Not Mr. Frisbee.

OK lets turn this snafu into a positive.

How many other chicken-owners can you name in and around Mayberry???

Mr. Frisbee, Orville Hendrix (Mt Pilot counts)

.and Chicken thieves and fried chicken makers don't count.
