Don Knotts Statue
Well the statue in Don Knotts home town is in a suit because they want him to remember as the actor. Not just one role he played (Barney Fife). And there was a statue made for Mt. Airy (mayberry) But it was destroyed. Because his home town wanted a statue, and they didnt want it in his uniform. So they wouldnt even let the man that made it keep it, it was destroyed. Isnt that sad? You think they would want everyone to be able to enjoy him! Heartache! Nothin' but heartache! some updates
We had some special guests in our shop this weekend Kenneth Otis Junkin, and Jeff Howard Branch! They made it so fun here, and we were so excited to see them and to have them in our shop! We also attended the Surry County Arts Ball on St. Patricks Day, and we were THRILLED to see Betty Lynn there. She is doing great, and said that she is still unpacking. She also exclaimed that she LOVES her view of the mountains!!! We just wanted to update you on her since she hasnt gotten 'out and about' too much since being here in Mt. Airy. We also made a 'pit stop' on our way to Myrtle Beach... we stopped in Siler City. We got to see the place where Aunt Bee lived after TAGS, and her beautiful grave site. We watchted that season today in the shop. And we got to wondering more about the 1st Floyd, and why he was only in the one episode. And what happened, we all know and love Howard Floyd McNear. But seeing the first Floyd again just raised some questions. Who knows more about him and what happened? Allen? We wanted to write and say that we are so sorry that you couldnt pull up the articles from the Mount Airy Newspaper without paying for it! We hav made many MANY calls to them but they will not allow us to get an electronic copy of the article even though we have multiple paper subscriptions. They want us to pay extra to access the articles online. We will have copies of the papers in our shop for people to see them if they want, but we don't want to have to deal with the Mount Airy paper people anymore. Russell Hiatt's birthday cards have been piling in, keep them coming! We can tell that he really enjoys them, and takes them home to his wife to see. He hasnt gotten as many as we would thought he would have by now so remember his birthday is Sunday 1-28. We haven't seen Betty Lynn yet, but we have heard she is doing well.
